Visited Fresh Thyme Market 3 times while working in the area. It was the closet grocery store in the hotel I was staying at. It has a variety of fresh produce, meat, bakery items and more. I really really really wanted to like this store, really did. I walked in to a neat, clean and organized store that just looked like quality, like you could expect to get your money worth. I was on the hunt for Unreal Deli product - it is listed as being here on the companies website. I couldn't find it and walked around filling my basket with other stuff while I searched. The store was staffed to the hilt, but not a single person would greet me or acknowledge me when I tried to get help. The couple at the sushi counter even, just seemed like they did not want to be there. I had to ask 3 times to get answer on the sushi roll. I eventually gave up looking for Unreal Deli, figuring I would order online as they offer free shipping on orders over 99.00. I won't be back to this store again, not just because it is 4 hours away from home but because I left without a single employee greeting me, asking if I needed help or responding to my attempts to flag them down. Fresh thyme has removed all the disabled parking spots from its Mpls location ( 24 30th Ave SE, Minneapolis, ). This is a large parking lots so its confusing why you no longer provide for the seniors who live in Prospect Park or other disabled folks. Its hard that the store has become almost all self check out and your supply of produce is now limited, but no where to park and having to struggle through a parking lot that is often full of snow? Woo first review! I got wind that this new Fresh Thyme location on University and S.E. Arthur near Prospect Park / U of M Stadium Village area opened today and headed that way. Fresh Thyme is a great place to get your groceries or stop for a meal! Similar to Whole Foods but better prices. I like the other locations so stopped in to shop and eat dinner. Lots of fresh produce and for cheap. I got avocados for 50 cents a piece! They have great cheap produce and some unique stuff, like multiple kinds of fresh mushrooms. Good organic, gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options. I especially like their gf frozen meal and dessert options! You can save a lot by buying in bulk here. They have bulk candy and chocolate, yes, but also bulk beans, cous cous, and flour (gf flour!). Great way to save and reuse containers. I love eating here too. Good salad bar, antipasti bar, and soup options. Love the tomato soup. My boyfriend introduced me to $4.99 sandwiches and I've been obsessed since! Can put whatever you want on it. They also have gluten free bread! Made to order pizzas, sushi, and other to go meals as well. It was their first day, so when I asked for gluten free bread, the guy couldn't find it and was going to make me a sandwich with gf pizza dough (cooked and sliced). He was really gonna go the distance for me! However, he found the gf bread and made me an awesome Reuben. Cheap rotisserie chicken - maybe just for opening day but was a steal! As far as service, a lot are younger, probably U of M students, so can be a bit awkward at times. I love Fresh Thyme!! I've seen these around my home state of Michigan, but never got a chance to check it out. Until now. In Minnesota. And boy, am I glad I did. The opening sale prices are unbeatable. I've gone twice within 2 days because I just can't get enough! There are a ton of fresh options here - deli, pasta bar, salad bar, bakery, sushi, you name it. The produce is ridiculously fresh and for such good deals! Avocados are 3/$1, bell peppers are as low as 88 cents, 2 boxes of grape tomatoes for 2/$1, and 1-lb bags of carrots are 3/$1 too! I don't know that I can go to any other grocery store after this... I'm obsessed with the Fresh Thyme white cheddar Mac n Cheese. That's my favorite buy by far and I'm sure I'll be adding to my "Fresh Thyme favorites list" quickly. read more

I've been to this location 3 times and so far so good. I spend most of my time in the produce section and its a good assortment of quality products at a reasonable price. I do find several items in the bulk section (pay by the weight) to be pricier than even Whole Foods. The meat case is pretty good, but smaller than say Cubs. Nonetheless, still good options and prices. Haven't tried the deli bar, but someone I know heard good things. I have had the oven fried chicken and guacamole, both which were tasty. One thing I noticed, this location seems to not have a juice bar like the one on Excelsior. If it's there and I'm missing it.... let me know. read more

I love it here. Everyone is friendly and helpful, and their selection is pretty great, especially when it comes to bulk goods. They are fantastic for those with dietary restrictions--keto, vegetarian, vegan, paleo, and FODMAP-friendly options abound. Prices are not as good as prior reviews make them out to be. It's still pretty expensive. The biggest problem with this store is that they don't make it a habit to have someone available to check your groceries out for you at a register, and there are often minimal staff around to assist with employee required codes, such as as deletions, at self-checkout. Lose lose for customer service. If you have even a moderate amount of groceries, it's really kind of a horrible experience, if not just simply for the lack of space there is at self-checkout. read more

Just moved to the area last month and made my way down here from Roseville after seeing a weekly ad. I am so happy I came to check this place out, it's great! This place kinda reminds me of how Whole Foods used to be, except much less expensive and pretentious. Overall I was very impressed with both their sale prices, some of which were crazy values, and even their regular prices. They have rows of bulk foods in the middle of the store that provide excellent value for getting exactly how much you want of many staples. Produce looked very nice and fresh, as did the butcher's case. This will likely become a common stop for me to get groceries and produce! As an aside, I was ecstatic and surprised to see St. Elmo's Cocktail Sauce being sold out of their refrigerated butcher case. It's a restaurant in Indianapolis famous for their out-of-this-world shrimp cocktails served up with one of the hottest (and in my experience, the best) cocktail sauces around. Trouble is that it needs to stay refrigerated or it loses the heat that makes it so good. This is the first time I've seen it sold this way outside of Indiana. read more

Fresh Thyme is one of my favorite grocery stores to shop. I just wish there were more locations, especially in the East Metro. This particular location can be a little difficult to park, but the parking lot, street and parking garage should offer plenty; I think most people don't realize you can also park in the attached garage. Check out the deli and salad bar, they are the hidden gems of the store. Produce here is always fresh and have many items to cater to different diets (vegan, gluten free, keto, etc.) Be sure to swing by the wine shop, which is outside the main door. read more

With a good grocery store walking distance from the U, Fresh Thyme has a ton to offer: a huge bulk section, fresh meats, sushi, BYO pizza, salad bar, tons of fresh produce, and a lot of organic options. I'm curious to see how the prices hold up after their grand opening sale going on until the 18th. Attached to Fresh Thyme is a small liquor store, which have reasonable prices and a great selection of beer. A lot of surley beers are also sold in that store! I am a huge fan of Fresh Thyme and was very excited to stop into this location and check out the new addition to the Minnesota Fresh Thymes. I approached on University from the east and struggled to figure out the parking. I followed the light rail and found the underground parking garage, but the signage was really not prominent. I took the elevator up because there was not clear signage indicating that there was a escalator around the corner. Big lesson, more signage is needed to help guests figure out where to park and how to get into the store. I went up to the store and the layout seemed a bit off. I thought it was strange that you walk right into the meat section and the produce is in the back of the store. I have not seen that approach and not really sure I am a fan. There were so many shelves that were not fully stocked. I went to the beverage cooler (where you can grab 1 beverage) and there were so many holes. I was going to grab a la croix, but it was completely picked over. It was 3pm on a Monday so I am not sure if they had a big lunch rush or what. I picked up a few items and went to the checkout and the woman working the checkout just seemed like she was over it. This just did not seem like the normal Fresh Thyme experience. read more

It doesn't exist even though you pay all the delivery fees and tips. It's only curbside pickup. The orders history said it was delivered around 10 am. It was not. I love this grocery store, they have all kinds of fancy, healthy goods as well as normal produce, grocery items. I tried their poke (spicy and pineapple) which were both amazing. I also enjoy a variety of plant-based products FT has like dairy-free yogurt, cream cheese, ice cream. The bulk section has a ton of stuff from Medjool dates to cinnamon coated almonds, almond flour, chocolate, raw cashews, etc. They have in-house freshly made nut butter too!! I just moved to the Twin Cities, and am glad I found my go-to grocery spot so quickly. The produce is super affordable, and they even have an entire bulk section. Unlike Whole Foods, you can bring your own containers if you prefer to reduce your usage of single-use packaging. In terms of specialty items (such as vegan meats and yogurts), I have always found what I needed. Unlike other reviewers have mentioned, the staff has always been polite enough when I have asked for help. I don't expect spa quality service from a grocery store. Because of the proximity to The U, the lines can get pretty long on weekends depending on when you go since a lot of students shop here. However it's always been well stocked when I go, and it's friendly on the budget (especially when you get a surprise coupon on your receipt!). I do agree with other reviewers that they can minimize on the packaging they use on their produce. Last week they had a special on green beans, but they came in a plastic bag that couldn't be recycled. Same situation with the cauliflower. Most grocery stores sell these items loose. read more

Understand that the Fresh Thyme stated return policy and how they handle actual returns are not the same. Their stated return policy is no questions asked. Their actual return policy as performed by the assistant store manager was to attempt to guilt us by "informing" that they would have to throw the item away. So, I would recommend to resolve this issue by either changing your return policy or change the negative attitude of your staff. read more

I've always really liked their location in Bloomington and was super happy when I discovered they had one just five minutes down the road from me! They have a good collection of produce, and it's really well located, one of my favorite things is being able to buy pink Himalayan salt in bulk! The only thing I would say is that occasionally the workers are pretty cranky. The second or third time I went there I asked a girl about getting honey in bulk because I had a friend who went to that location and had bought honey in bulk recently, but they didn't seem to have a spot for it, thought they had the honey bear containers. I was told that they hadn't had honey in months and would probably never get it back, I asked her why the honey bears were still there because it was a little confusing, she said she had no idea because it wasn't her department but also that honey was never coming back. That was a little confusing to me, and I was a little surprised at how impolite she was. A week later they had bulk honey again. Terrible service/communication, got yelled at for a problem that wasn't my fault in the first place. If they didn't want residents from Link to push their carts out then they could've left a notice somewhere to inform us. As someone who has just moved in, I was told by my neighbors that pushing the carts into the residence building was okay, and someone in OUR building was in charge for pushing the carts back (before that I did push the carts back myself). I recently moved to the Twin Cities area, and one thing I had not been able to find was a grocery store comparable to my favorite chain in my home state, called Sprouts. I was initially overjoyed when I walked into a Fresh Thyme for the first time and discovered that it was almost exactly like Sprouts! Initially. My joy quickly turned to disgust as soon as the smell hit me. The odor inside this place is like what I imagine a butcher in an open-air market would, but not in a good way. Overall the store just didn't seem clean, and it just didn't seem bright enough in there. The produce looked mediocre at best. The meat looked okay but due to the smell I couldn't bring myself to buy any. Other than that, their selection of most items was pretty good, the prices were good, and the staff were friendly. But still not enough for me to shop there. It just didn't seem clean. Because I was hanging onto hope, I decided to try another Fresh Thyme, thinking maybe it was just this particular location that was lacking. I was wrong... the Bloomington one was just as sad. Avoid market on Wednesdays if you're intending to buy items with Sale prices ending or beginning on that day. It's a hassle at the check-out to get the correct price. After recently receiving one of their weekly Sale flyers in the mail, I drove to this store to check it out on a Monday and buy a few items they had on Sale. From Fairview Ave. then heading west on University I found the store, no problem, and after slowly rumbling down the street alongside the store that's all torn up, I parked in their surface parking lot. Seemed like a busy place in the late morning/early afternoon. Many people moving around, seemingly haphazardly, every which way - maybe trying to quickly get around everyone else and out of the store. Kind of like Whole Foods in that way. After searching high and low all around their produce section, twice, looking for the organic blueberries that were supposed to be on Sale, and neglecting to read the small notice posted that these did not make it to the store due to vendor issues, I asked for help and we learned "together" that this was the reason for their absence. So I bought the non-organic ones, instead. A certain organic apple that was supposed to be on Sale was very difficult to find and then was posted with an incorrect (non-Sale) price. While shopping in the produce area, I noticed two women, I think they were together, and one was pushing a cart with two small children in it. One time I passed by them, both kids were eating an apple. A short while later, I noticed each child was eating a banana. It appeared they were eating directly from the available produce. I wonder whether they recorded each child's weight upon entering the store and then weighed them again at check-out to see how much they need to pay for what was consumed? After seeing their signage about their Double Ad Wednesdays (two Sales flyer ads in effect), I returned on Wednesday on my way elsewhere, to see what new items were on Sale and buy more of those Sale-price blueberries. I was pleased to find they now had in stock those organic blueberries. I decided to buy some organic and some non-organic ones to see which I liked better. I also purchased one bottle of their 2 for $5 special on orange juice. Not too terribly surprising, in going through the check-out, the blueberries and the orange juice rung up with incorrect pricing and the male cashier seemed incapable of understanding what I was pointing out to him - that the prices were not correct. Eventually, he called a manager or supervisor over who also seemed to have difficulty grasping what I was saying - but then it seemed to dawn on him and become clear. He rung up the items so that the correct prices were given on those items and then left to leave the cashier to carry on. He told me my total, and after I paid, I did not receive any thank you, nor a sorry for the confusion. Having had this frustrating "Wednesday" experience, with their 2 Sale Ads in effect at once, I think it may be best to avoid the store on Wednesdays if you want to buy Sale items. read more

The healthy trend in food markets shows at Fresh Thyme. First: That's a lot of vitamins and supplements! By far the most I've seen anywhere and you may need to keep your phone handy to figure out what some of them are, even Dr Oz would be amazed. Second: Huge selection of tea, especially Bigelow green teas with flavors. There is take out coffee and easy access to grab and go items at the entrance and a small outdoor dining area. Speaking of coffee, with the huge tea selection I never did see make-at-home coffee. If you are into sugary cereals you may be out of luck as a few of the bigger sellers are on the bottom shelf with the rest all organic or granola based brands. The deli section is mostly healthy items as well and they have a sushi maker. They make California Rolls which is we could say sushi based.
