    Woooo first check in!

Woo first review! I got wind that this new Fresh Thyme location on University and S.E. Arthur near Prospect Park / U of M Stadium Village area opened today and headed that way. Fresh Thyme is a great place to get your groceries or stop for a meal! Similar to Whole Foods but better prices. I like the other locations so stopped in to shop and eat dinner. Lots of fresh produce and for cheap. I got avocados for 50 cents a piece! They have great cheap produce and some unique stuff, like multiple kinds of fresh mushrooms. Good organic, gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options. I especially like their gf frozen meal and dessert options! You can save a lot by buying in bulk here. They have bulk candy and chocolate, yes, but also bulk beans, cous cous, and flour (gf flour!). Great way to save and reuse containers. I love eating here too. Good salad bar, antipasti bar, and soup options. Love the tomato soup. My boyfriend introduced me to $4.99 sandwiches and I've been obsessed since! Can put whatever you want on it. They also have gluten free bread! Made to order pizzas, sushi, and other to go meals as well. It was their first day, so when I asked for gluten free bread, the guy couldn't find it and was going to make me a sandwich with gf pizza dough (cooked and sliced). He was really gonna go the distance for me! However, he found the gf bread and made me an awesome Reuben. Cheap rotisserie chicken - maybe just for opening day but was a steal! As far as service, a lot are younger, probably U of M students, so can be a bit awkward at times. Takes some time to work out first day kinks I'm sure, but this is an awesome and affordable fresh produce and all around grocery and quick bite option. Nothing else like it around and really supports the area!

Fresh thyme: even the flowers are cheaper and better?

Love this new location and its selection. They just opened a few days ago and I'm ecstatic to have found this place. 1. General Very clean, nicely organized, staff members are very helpful and attentive. I hope this continues and don't decline in quality. It's a grocery like others, good selection and very comparable with Whole Foods. 2. Food selection One word: great. I found everything I needed/wanted. I also liked that they are cheaper than most grocery stores and of good quality. Bakery was great too. Their ready to eat food was very delicious, from soup to pizza to whole chicken. They also have fun games for kids and give treats if they solve the puzzle. Parking lot is spacious enough. All in all, my new favorite grocery store

mild guacamole.... tasty and $4.99 on Wednesdays.

I've been to this location 3 times and so far so good. I spend most of my time in the produce section and its a good assortment of quality products at a reasonable price. I do find several items in the bulk section (pay by the weight) to be pricier than even Whole Foods. The meat case is pretty good, but smaller than say Cubs. Nonetheless, still good options and prices. Haven't tried the deli bar, but someone I know heard good things. I have had the oven fried chicken and guacamole, both which were tasty. One thing I noticed, this location seems to not have a juice bar like the one on Excelsior. If it's there and I'm missing it.... let me know.

Lunch register at 12:30 pm on a busy worker Wednesday.

Expensive. Crowded. Ignores local customers. Registers SHUTDOWN AGAIN IN MIDDLE OF LUNCH HOUR at 12:30 pm. Ugh. What possible reason would your 20 deli employees have for ignoring the hundreds of workers trying to buy a quick lunch? You guys are pathetic.

Pretty solid store, has everything you'd want, but some items are just too spendy. And now I need to make it a long enough post

Store is dirty and the produce (tomatoes) has mold growing on them. Not enough workers either.

Do the cashiers bag the groceries, or do I? I'm new to grocery stores in MN and never know what to expect anymore.

They bag your groceries in either paper or plastic!

Are there 2 different Fresh Thyme at this location or is there a mistake? I Followed Yelp's directions to this place today and literally ended up in the middle of nowhere -__-

Hi, Minh! We're sorry to hear about this! There must be a mistake with the directions. We'll look into getting it fixed! Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

I have been shopping the grocery story & wine shop for about 15 years. I'm in the store(s) 4-5 days…read moreper week, spending roughly $500 per month between the two. I have over half a dozen friends working there, the regular staff all know my face, and I even recently interviewed for part-time work there. I do not like paying 5 cents for a plastic bag every time I swing through for a few items, so I decided to bring my own bag today. It's a messenger bag that rests on my back, no side pockets. Many customers in the store carry purses and/or reusable hand bags. All of these people have immediate access to their style of bags, whereas my messenger bag would require me to take it off my back in order to open it. As I walked by a very indiscreet undercover security member I hear a man's voice telling her via radio to keep an eye on me. I was then followed around the store for the entire visit, again very indiscreetly. I say this as someone who has worked professionally in security from bars, to retail, to IT. When I realized I forgot an item in the produce section I walked all the way back across the store, only to see a male security member come out of the back and proceed to follow me to the register. I intentionally chose a lane with a bagger, and showed him there was nothing in my bag before handing it to him. At the end of checkout the cashier asked me if I'd like to keep the 5 cents or donate it. This was new to me since I normally do self-checkout, so she explained that the 5 cents is a form of encouragement to bring my own bag. I replied to donate it, then said it was ironic considering security followed me around the entire store for wearing a bag that I was now being rewarded for bringing. She snapped at me and said "Well if you have a problem, my manager is right over there", and pointed to the self-checkout where the manager present has known me for quite some time and is always very friendly to me. Normally I decline a receipt when asked, but the cashier printed it without asking me. Seeing as I was only making an observation and not trying to escalate like the cashier was now doing, I deferred from chatting with said manager, and walked out of the store after placing my receipt into the donation box towards the Animal Humane Society like I always do. I have enjoyed the niche items that Kowalski's offers that other grocers do not, but considering these other stores sell the same common products for up to 40% cheaper, and considering the harassment by security and the poor customer service today, I will forego these niche items in favor of shopping elsewhere from this day forward.

I'm a lookerrrr, so I loved taking my time to really look around. The store is bright, clean, and stocked. Good variety: groceries, deli and bakery items, personal care products, and even a small jewelry section tucked in. Prices felt fair....nothing that gave me sticker shock. Didn't have much interaction with staff aside from a quick (and quiet) checkout, but everyone seemed friendly from a distance. Parking was fine, which is always a bonus. I'm not from the Minneapolis area, so I wouldn't make a special trip just to come here, but if I'm nearby and need something, I'd happily stop in again.

I was in the area so I hoped that the Wedge co-op would have smoothies, and they did! I purchased a breakfast fuel smoothie that ended up being a little too nut buttery for me. This is my fault, remember I've been sick so I wasn't reading properly! The smoothie maker happily gave me some pineapple juice to add which helped. He declined my offer of payment for said juice. The real winner is the two bites of macaroni and cheese and macaroni and mushrooms from the hot bar that my stomach handled. It wasn't too salty or too greasy. Once I have my appetite back, I'll def come back for full portions! They have a nice quiet seating area that's always been clean when I visit. Parking is parking at the wedge. It's never as bad as anticipated.
