I scheduled the appointment three months in advance, called me morning of to say they were running late because of emergencies. no one ever called me back to let me know if they were even coming. waited around all day. called after hours and the answering service never relayed the message. Tried to call back Monday morning several times couldn't get through finally got through and no one apologized. I wanted to delete my review on Yelp, but they've made it hard to do so I'm updating my review instead (1 star for Yelp!) Sometimes the measure of a company is how they act when they've screwed up. The owner of Coastal Services called me in the evening on the weekend. She took responsibility for the mishap and immediately said that they would refund the charge. I went with another company for our dehumidifier problem, but I think I'll keep Coastal Services in my short list of go-to contractors in the Ocean View area. Always happy to buy local when I can. selling my house. New owners had an inspection. Found an issue.....loose toilet in the half-bath. (A room I never used the whole time I owned the house) Coastal sent a plumber who seems incompetent from the minute he got there. Said the floor was uneven. said he needed shims. He put in 4 shims, which obviously essentially does NOTHING but raise the whole toilet. Next day new owner came to inspect the toilet before closing and it was still loose. Coastal sent back the same guy to fix it. I didn't want him back. George said it was our fault that the toilet was loose again . Eventually they sent over a different guy who managed to secure the toilet to the floor with ZERO shims. but George would not even send the new guy over until I agreed to pay a second full price for the same repair. I was in the middle of closing and I had no choice but to pay it again. I strongly suggest you find a company that will stand behind their work. This year I contracted with this service for maintenance on my HVAC. They have cancelled twice on me and cannot even reschedule me till next month. I travel many hours to make these appointments. No forwarning that they were not going to show up for the bi yearly Maintence included in the $300. contract I payed for, being a new customer I am very disappointed. Having a very difficult time with billing dispute. Coastal is trying to charge us for a bill that we did not contact their services for. They were commissioned by ADT and Ferrandino and Son. Plus they upcharged, doubled the price that we had already pre paid to ADT. They did not rewire anything, just a quick thermostat install Wouldn't recommend. read more

Coastal Services needs to be shut down for FRAUD & DECEPTIVE PRACTICES. I called Coastal Services LLC and spoke to George Elliot's (owner) wife, Doreen, which assured me repeatedly via telephone the electrician, Tom Tillette, whom they sent to my home on February 17, 2025 to address a circuit in my garage was a MASTER ELECTRICIAN. When Mr. Tillette arrived at my home he also stated to my face he was MASTER electrician, yet when I went on the website for Delaware's Professional Electricians database, there is no record of Mr. Tillette ever possessing any type of electrical license in the state of Delaware EVER!! He was at my house for a total of five minutes and I was charged $288.00 by Coastal Services LLC to complete work done by an unlicensed, uninsured electrician. With all the publicly documented previous legal trouble that Mr. Elliott experienced with his previous company, EASTERN SHORE ELECTRICAL SERVICES I would hope by now, he is well versed with all Delaware electricians laws and procedures. Along with his extensive experience in the field for NUMEROUS YEARS, he undoubtedly knows that an electrician must be licensed to complete any type of electrical work when entering a home in the state of Delaware. When I contacted the office, and spoke to Mr. George Elliot's wife, Doreen, after she FINALLY called me back after sending three emails and two telephone calls later. I simply explained I am requesting a copy of Mr. Tillette's license and insurance information. At that point, she became combative and extremely aggressive, then told me I could drive to the office and view the plethora of licenses displayed on their Coastal Services LLC wall. I am not asking if Coastal Services LLC is insured, Mrs. Elliot, I want to know if the person that you sent masquerading around like a master electrician working on my home, is licensed and insured!! SO, NO MRS. ELLIOT, I'm not driving all the way to Oceanview, when I reside in Lewes Beach, Delaware, that is a 40 minute drive.!!! Like WHAT! ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! I asked if she could please email or text me copies of the credentials I was requesting on Mr.Tillette and if she could not, to please kindly refund my $288 for sending an unlicensed uninsured electrician to my home to perform work. ****MRS DOREEN ELLIOTT THEN AT THAT POINT HUNG THE PHONE UP IN MY EAR*** EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL MRS. I needed to have a dishwasher installed quickly since after three weeks Home Depot said they couldn't do the job despite having paid them for installation. I was desperate since I was leaving my beach home in three days. While initially Coastal Services said they couldn't fit me in they said they would try. Well they got me in the next day. The plumber they sent was very good. He has some problems installing it because the custom cabinets were so tight but he managed. The price was very reasonable. I would recommend them for plumbing or other home services. read more

They were hired to fix a leaky toilet, came by and replaced the wax seal but that didn't work. They came by again and replaced the seal again. Still didn't work. Turned out there was a flaw with the toilet and then wanted to charge full price for the installation of a new toilet. It turned out to be a huge waste of time. Also a waste of money at emergency rates since the problem was never fixed! They didn't properly diagnose a problem with the toilet that was fairly obvious. To make matters worse the woman answering the phones had no apologetic attitude at all and was actually rude. She acted as if this was all an inconvenience for her. read more

I called to have A/C serviced because it was not blowing cold air. The first person comes out and hooks up a meter to check if the freon was low, which it was, so he proceeds to put 2 lbs of freon in the system. That was $584. He did not check to see if there was a leak or any other problems. He explained to me that sometimes when the A/C systems are installed some companies do not fully charge the system. The next day the system is still not cooling the house. This is on the weekend now and I called them again, and the following day the owner comes out and hooks up the freon gauge and tells me the freon is low by 2 lbs. Wow big surprise. I said there is obvious a leak. He explains to me he would have to run a test which would take 5-6 hours to find the leak at a cost of $800-$1,200. That does not include fixing the problem. I declined the service and contacted another A/C repair service. He came out had the leak detected within 1 1/2 hours. read more

Last evening I noticed some water collecting underneath our kitchen sink. I called Coastal Services this morning at 9:00am and by 9:30 am Adam showed up at my door to determine where the leak was coming from and repair it. I was pleasantly surprised with the courtesy, professionalism, and social skills displayed by Adam. He was thorough in his inspection, determined the source of the leak and had it repaired within 15 minutes. I was so impressed that when my neighbor told me that he needed a plumber I recommended that he call Coastal Services and specifically ask for Adam. Coastal Services has my highest possible recommendation for HVAC (I have a contract with them for this service), and all your plumbing needs. They are simply the BEST!!! read more

I had an 8' by 10' chunk of siding blow off the side of my house way up near the highest part of my home(about 30 feet). My normal handyman came over but said it was too high for him. I had to get it done within four days as I was having an open house as I'm trying to sell my home. Contacted Coastal Services on Monday morning and they had their estimator over that afternoon and job was done the next day! It looks good and they cleaned up after. Well done Coastal Services! If there was a NO star rating i would have chosen that one. Coastal Services (CS) was recommended by Bradford White (BW) , the Hot Water Heater manufacturer, to repair my Heat Pump Hot Water Heater (HWH). In my opinion CS is VERY expensive and does marginal work. The first tech came out to my home to repair/replace the condenser (which was under warranty), so i was just being charged for labor. The tech spent a lot of time on the phone. So much so that i felt he had little to no experience with this type of HWH. When i called the owner (George?) to complain, he said he would come out. He NEVER showed. They charge $185 just to come to your home!! That bill was over $500. Then considering i HAD TO use them (according to BW), i called them again for another issue with the HWH. This tech was a nice guy. He knew what he was doing. This time the 10 year old unit was leaking and had to be replaced. Still under warranty, I asked CS to replace it with a comparable unit. After one and a half weeks of waiting to hear from CS and..... NO HOT WATER!!! i called them. I was told "someone would get back to me" THAT SOMEONE NEVER CALLED. I then gave up and called another HVAC company. They called me back within 3 HOURS!! 3 hours!! they had a comparable unit and asked me when i would like it installed. They even found an energy rebate that i could apply to the labor charge. CS would never have done that. I will NEVER use CS ever again. They are the worlds WORST as far as i am concerned. read more

We recently needed to have an AC unit serviced. After checking with neighbors, we called Coastal because they are 1/2 mile from our house. They arrived right on time and the technician was great. He confirmed my diagnosis of the problem and replaced the defective part in less than 15 minutes. This is the point where the story goes off the rails. We asked him how much we owed him and he said he didn't know, the office would bill us. At this point, we were operational again, so I called the office and asked how much the bill would be. I was told that the first hour was billed at $150, with a 1 hour minimum, and we would be billed for the parts once the technician reported in. Imagine my surprise when I got an invoice for $185 in labor and a 400% markup on the parts, with a separate, additional 20% markup called out as a specific line item. When questioned about the labor charges, Coastal just sent a revised invoice with the correct $150 labor charge, with no explanation. When asked again about the parts charges, another new invoice appeared, again with no explanation. It feels like Coastal tries to bill whatever they think they can get away with and only corrects things when called out on them. While they were able to quickly and accurately diagnose and repair our problem, the after service was terrible. Their business practices seem shady at best, and more likely blatantly dishonest. I DO NOT RECOMMEND COASTAL SERVICES! read more

Coastal Services has been our go to plumbers and home repair contractors for 4 years, helping us to take care of our Bethany beach needs, while we live 2 1/2 hours away. During a week when we are reeling from news of a stock market collapse and a deadly virus, I need to shout from the rooftops about the amazing service we got yesterday when we received a call from a town official that streams of water were pouring out from under the crawl space of our house. I called Coastal and literally within 3 minutes, Adam was at our house carrying out emergency water pumping, shutting off valves, and calling us with updates. He pumped the water out, was able to pinpoint the source of the leak in the water main supply line, and had it fixed ASAP. He left the pump running over night and called the next morning with an update, turned on the hot water for us so that we when arrive tomorrow all will be normal.
