My husband and I reserved a 3 bedroom unit at Triton's Trumpet through Coastal Resort Sales and Rentals. Our first surprise, the master suite had no closet for our use; the owner put a lock and sign on it saying Owner's Closet. We checked another bedroom and saw it was filled with all kinds of stuff that belonged to the owner, including blankets, sheets, towels, toys, etc There was only 1 closet available. We've rented vacation units before and saw closets with that kind of lock and sign on it but it was in the hallway. The owner of this unit had a lock and sign on the closet in the hallway too. I called Coastal Resort and was very disappointed in the manner they chose to handle the situation. It left us no other choice but to stay there all night because they claimed they couldn't contact the owner until morning. I told them the only acceptable solution would be to move us to another unit or refund our money. I got a Call the next morning saying the owner said there was a hook we could hang our clothes on, and they said the owner said she could send over instructions for the tvs that my husband couldn't get to work (my husband worked at QVC for 25 yrs., as a Quality Assurance Specialist, testing every kind of electrical device imaginable and never had a problem setting up something as simple as a tv). This was TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!! We left the next day and found a beautiful unit at the Astoria vacation rental, so nice. It had everything Coastal Resorts didn't have with Triton's Trumpet (we stayed in a 2 bedroom unit yrs ago & it was more room in that unit than the 3 bedroom unit, and more modern, too). 201A unit even had an electric stove with coils, an antique to say the least. I haven't cooked on a stove like that in over 25 yrs and I didn't like it then. Needless to say I did a dispute with our CC company and I told my CC company I wanted every cent returned because we had a miserable night and our guests who had medical problems were not happy either. I don't usually do reviews but I don't want anyone to experience what we went through. I feel strongly that the owner of 201A Triton's Trumpet cares very little about guests who rent their unit and more about their own desires. There were also issues with the keys...we had to use 3 to get into the unit and they were not marked. Oh and how could I forget this, they had no loading carts to carry your things. The only thing Coastal Rentals would say about the closet situation is that it was in the owner's lease that they could put locks on the closets for their use. I got no reply to my question: How does your making things comfortable for the Owner help us with this terrible inconvenience we find ourselves in because of their gross negligence? I don't want anyone to go through this nightmare. Oh and by the way, the nice unit Astoria was rented via Shoreline Rentals and not only was the unit absolutely phenomenal but the staff were great!!! read more

Our rental (Sand Dollars in Holden Beach) was infested with roaches. There were roach traps full of dead/living roaches. We watched them crawling on the counters, across the microwave, up from behind the oven. And somehow this wasn't the worst part of our stay. The worst part was the host, Coastal Vacation, and Charity Luv Parsons (the "manager") specifically. After originally confirming that they had 2 other homes available and would be able to move us which is all we asked for, they refused to help in any way. Ihad to get Airbnb involved, who sided in our favor, found us a hotel for the night, refunded our unused days and gave us a % off our replacement location. The women in the office were threatening, combative, and completely disrespectful. I have traveled extensively and this is the filthiest home I've ever stayed in with the worst customer service ve ever experienced in my life. The Blue Crab Cottage on Holden Beach was reserved, payment was processed, and we received the "Thank you for booking with us. We look forward to seeing you" from Coastal Vacation. Everyone requested their time off work and looking forward to this needed vacation. On March 27, 2024, I received an email telling me our reservation was cancelled. Coastal Vacations didn't have the decency to call me to discuss options, just cancelled the reservation. I had to go online to my Airbnb account and send a message to Coastal Vacation asking why. Coastal Vacation replied, it's a 7-night minimum stay and also, you weren't charged enough for the dates you had. They blamed Airbnb saying Coastal Vacation has no control over Airbnb system, but I'm a retired travel agent and I know the process. You don't list on Airbnb without giving them all the details and approving listing before it goes live for booking. Coastal Vacations is at fault and the real reason for cancellation is all about the money. The nightly rate booked was $289.20 and now they are selling the house for $373.14 pn for June 1-8 and $497.71pn for June 8-15. Be very cautious when booking through any of Coastal Vacation avenues. Your vacation may be ruined too with no options. I asked them to call with other options, but no one has called or sent an email reply with any options. CRICKETS from Coastal Vacations!!!! Airbnb did try to find another place but at this late date the only option in our price range is on the mainland. Bottom line - Coastal Vacations made the error, and we are paying the price. I am actually giving this business 0 stars! We are extremely disappointed in the way we were treated after our last rental with them in June 2023. We had been loyal repeat costumers for the past 7+ years, renting the same ocean front house for the same week in June. CVR explained their hold policy the first year we rented when we inquired about reserving the house for the next summer, same week. We put down the $100 to hold the house 12 MONTHS IN ADVANCE (according to them, the earliest we could reserve the house). In June 2023, we inquired to reserve the house, same week, for June 2024, and were informed it had already been reserved for that week by new renters (14 MONTHS AHEAD!)! We were stunned and upset they did not call us, as loyal repeat renters who took care of the property and always left it in great condition, to give us first refusal for "our week" and rented it out from under us. Recently rented a duplex from Coastal, and NEVER will again. First, I reserved Westside for the first week of October, several months ago. Soon after I decided to stay an extra week and reserved Eastside for the following week because Westside wasn't available for the that particular week. We got there 20 minutes early and had a code to get in, it didn't work. Called the office and Faith refused to let us in, even after driving for 11 hours to get there. Finally got in at 3:00p, and the odor about knocked us over. We looked around and found the tubs filthy, the floors were not properly vacuumed and I don't think the hard surfaced floors had ever been mopped. The ceiling fans had an inch of black dust all over them, there was sand on the night stands, a skillet with dried egg all around the inside, and the oven was so nasty we would not cook in it. So I called and spoke with Faith or Brooke, and they sent the same housekeepers that had supposedly cleaned it earlier that day, back. One of the housekeepers told us that the property was owned by a woman and her brother owned the other side (Eastside) and they would not provide proper cleaning supplied to do a good job and even said the reason the stairs weren't swept was because the owner wouldn't provide a handheld vacuum (I suppose the housekeepers couldn't use a broom)... So, we stepped out on the deck to let them redo the cleaning job and they left. We went back in, and you still couldn't tell they had been there. There were 3 of us staying at that point, and all 3 of us in our 70's. One of our party fell very ill Saturday evening, and was worse on Sunday, so we had other things to worry about other than NASTY accommodations, and he was transported by ambulance to a near by hospital early Monday morning. So we all three spent Monday thru Thursday at that hospital. HOWEVER, on Wednesday when we knew all was well with our sick companion, I called the office again to complain about the FILTH. I was told the housekeepers would be back. I asked that they come after 3:00p, because we were headed back to the hospital. I left bight bright pink post-it notes around indicating what needed attention in case they came while we were gone. One note was on the floor right beside a HUGE ROACH that said "Get this F'er out of here". We got back just a little before 3:00p, open the door to find the notes gone, but a brand new Dollar Store Vacuum Cleaner sitting by the door. I called the office AGAIN, and was told "the housekeepers had been there, taken pictures, showed them to the manager and the housekeeping manager, and they WILL NOT BE BACK'. So... my sister and I went to the store, bought cleaning supplies and cleaned the joint ourselves. I forgot to mention that there were supposed to be rocking chairs on the deck, and there were none. NOW TO EASTSIDE - When I booked Eastside, I was told the move would be made as easy as possible and that we could just sit our belongings on the deck while the housekeepers cleaned Eastside, and that they would start cleaning Eastside as soon as those occupants checked out and that we could leave our food in the refrigerator at Westside until we moved in, which would be as soon as Eastside was clean. SO, the occupants of Eastside left about 5:00a. I called the office around 9:00a and spoke with NATHAN to let them know that Eastside was empty and that we had all of our stuff out of Westside. A little after 10;00a I called back and spoke with Nathan to let him know the housekeepers still had not shown up. He put me on hold, AND THEN... a woman that refused to identify herself very hatefully began to talk to me like crap. She said "DID YOU OR DID YOU NOT LEAVE NASTY NOTES FOR OUR HOUSEKEEPERS"... I said "no, I left one for your exterminator" and she said 'AND WHAT DID IT SAY... WHAT DID IT SAY"... I told her exactly what it said. Then she said the housekeepers won't be there until you move your car. I asked her what her name was again, and again she refused to give it to me, and asked her if she could at least let the housekeepers know what the agreement was so they would know it was okay to come on and clean AND THEN SHE SAID "MOVE YOUR CARS OR I WILL CALL THE POLICE AND HAVE YOU REMOVED FROM THE PROPERTY"... We hung up and I moved our vehicles off the property. The housekeepers came and left. So, we start moving our stuff into Eastside. It is a little cleaner that Westside was, until we got upstairs. The Bedroom with twin beds STUNK so bad of urine, we could not use that room and just left it closed off. The upstairs bathtub had such a weak floor, it felt like the floor would give in at any given moment, so we were afraid to use it, AND THE BEDSPREAD in the room with the queen bed, HAD A BIG BLOOD STAIN ON IT, and the Living room I was afraid to even call the office about what was going on in Eastside, especially after being treated the way the unidentified woman talked to me and threatened me. read more

We rented Bridgecrest, a pet friendly house through Coastal Vacations in November 2021 at Holden Beach. Upon arrival the smell was so awful we could barely stay in the house long enough to open all the windows. The carpet upstairs was visually completely covered in pet urine stains which explained the odor. We contacted Coastal and they said we rented it and there was nothing they could do. During the conversation, they admitted it should not be rented in that condition. We left the house after one night but Coastal was totally unwilling to refund even $1 of our fee. Terrible service, terrible management of the properties and we will not be using them again. Renter beware is all we can say since they do not stand behind insuring the house is inhabitable. read more

We have been renting from them for a while. Over the years, we have forgiven a lot. A roach infestations that required a midweek spraying, difficulty with bookings, etc. Most recently, the lack of communication regarding our lost week of vacation during a natural disaster. These cannot be controlled, but the absolute lack of communication and attentiveness to understandably disappointed clients they have had for years is disheartening. Do not rent from Coastal Vacation Resorts! I should have known this would be a horrible experience from the general Attitude of the girl that answers the phone. But it was the only beach house I could find that had a ramp instead of stairs. And as y'all know, my husband requires entry. First night, the heat wasn't working. It was 30° outside. I called probably 10x and they told me "sorry there isn't anything we can do" eventually I annoyed them enough and someone came out and fixed the heat after 1am. Then, the ramp is so steep, and slippery that Doug and I both slid down. (I was trying to help him by holding his chair back from sliding). Completely unsafe. The upstairs was SO completely disgusting. They charge a pet fee but apparently keep that deposit and never clean the carpets. The washer broke during our stay. Finally got someone out around 9pm (after calling 3x starting at noon that day). He said there was sand in the bottom of the washer that caused it to stop draining. (It's a washer from the 80s in a rental property with atleast 4 families staying every month) but they blamed us for it breaking. on Christmas a storm came through and water leaks occurred in FIVE different places in the house. Causing my very expensive camera bag to get wet. Water was coming from every door and window. The property had tons of BLACK MOLD, water damage and it was overall unacceptable. Not only will Coastal Vacation Resorts not refund me any of our money. They've also decided to keep our damage deposit. Because of excessive sand (ITS A BEACH HOUSE) and trash (no trash was left, only a couple small things swept up. Oh and a couple shampoo bottle I accident left there). They now also manage the summertime rental of our little cottage down there at Holden Beach and we could not be happier with them. Over the past 30+ years we've all of the other rental companies at Holden Beach to rent a house from and a couple of them to manage the rental of our house and Coastal is by far the best one to deal with as far as customer service and reasonable rates/fees. read more

Coastal is still in business regardless of how they manage properties & treat paying customers! From the booking stage, getting charged $1000 too much, the staff was difficult. Staff was rude, unresponsive & too many issues from the start. From maintenance, housekeeping, functional furniture/appliances & overall management of the property. They had an excuse for everything & don't want to fix anything. Coastal is not very responsive. Coastal claimed "the person that got my complaint/concern was off until Sunday"? Sunday was a week after my original email? My email went to main company email. Nobody followed up until 2 days later & no fix until 2 more days (only new sheets). No fix of other MANY issues. I contacted Coastal at least 1-2, maybe 3 times per day & they always gave us some rude or unresolving response. Blew us off. They also would not give us a credit or refund due to property being discounted prior to us booking. Not our problem that it couldn't rent for a higher price before 2 days prior to arrival? Appliance not functioning? Per coastal, go buy this down the street to fix your issue? Really? They never apologized for my daughter getting hurt first day, falling through broken furniture on the pool deck that should've been trashed months before renting. They didn't replace furniture, but removed it. No lounge chairs by the pool due to this. We were told we could sit by the pool in metal/aluminum chairs in 95 degree heat that would scald or burn my kids and us! Again, rude! We will NEVER rent from this company again. Castle in the Sand property on Holden beach was our rental. I have no choice but to warn the next paying guest. Sheets & towels left in bag on front porch. Beds weren't made, annoying but we dealt with it. Not ok that king bed sheets badly pilled & not replaced until 4 days later after multiple follow ups on my behalf. Full bed sheets were blue with bad yellow stains. Home was not stocked at all. No hand soap, No spices, no salt/pepper! Main door wouldn't stay shut without locking it. Fridge didn't produce ice. Last morning, we finally got 4 pieces of ice. Lack of clean: Master-bath drawers & dresser had black hairs everywhere. Bedroom floors not vacuumed. Master bed is firm not comfy, husband & I didn't sleep well; Full in bedroom is hard and you could feel springs; bunks are pretty bad too. Couch in living area is a sleeper and it sucks you into the back of it so you are sitting at an angle. Pool: biggest upset; i wanted a place with multiple lounge chairs to lay out. 4 women & only 2 loungers. Ok deal with it? Right? Well, first daughter sits on one day after arrival, she fell through broken rotted very weathered wood chair, shouldn't have been out there! I went to sit on other chair before something happened. Gently sitting on it, it felt unstable & if I moved, I would've ended up on the concrete too. Coastal aid they will remove chairs but can't replace for a couple weeks due to owners ordering new ones that won't be in. Never got an apology for my daughter getting scraped up. Never asked to fill out incident report. Never layed out due to this. Was told by Brooke at coastal to sit on metal/aluminum sitting chairs that were so hot from heat, I would've been scalded! Pool company came by once & didn't clean well at all. Spiders & sand in the bottom of the pool the entire time. Said I got a discount before arriving due to late booking so owners wouldn't do more. I still paid asking price. They discounted because it wasn't rented up until 2 days before. I still paid & got a place with so many issues & a rental company that didn't seem to care. This is a review about Coastal Vacation Resorts, Holden Beach, NC., but even more so about the house we rented, McDiarmid, 1027 Ocean Beach W, Holden Beach, NC. We went there with my wife and myself, our 3 adult children, their spouses, and our 4 grandchildren. We have NEVER been so disappointed with a rental in all the times we've visited Holden. This is the first time we chose to use Coastal Vacation Resorts and the last. In regards to the McDiarmid House: 1) First there is no inside entrance to the 2 living areas. You have to go outside, up or down the stairs to access the two living areas. The laundry room is also only accessible by an outside entry as well. 2) Upon arrival, we found the laundry room smelling like mildew and the floor disgusting, along with a pile of dirt/debris piled up along the wall. (When notified, housekeeping did come and clean the floor) 3) In going into the downstairs living area, as we open the sliding doors and pulled the curtain back to enter the wooden, 1" round curtain rod fell onto my wife's head. When we looked up, one of the wooden support brackets was broken off, there was a hole broken into the tile where the rod had evidently punctured the tile on other occasions. As we continued to explore the ceiling we found several tiles soiled with water stain, broken, and water swelled. 4) As we pulled up, one exterior light was dangling from the side of the front of the house as well as the one at the end of the deck. Neither worked. They did come and re-secure the lights but could get only one working. The outside light that was suppose to illuminate the back staircase so one could get from the downstairs up to the second floor never did work. Maintenance came and changed the bulbs but it still continued to not work, causing our grand-kids to come up an down in the dark. 5) We had planned for the grand-kids to stay downstairs, but found that the back door would neither latch closed nor would it lock. The screen door had the screen torn loose and wouldn't shut. When the came to fix the inside door we pointed out the torn screen to the maintenance man he said there was nothing he could do that the whole doort was in such disarray that it needed to be replaced. 6) We found the upstairs kitchen sink leaking and when we looked under the cabinet we found the sink was propped up underneath by a i x 2. Again maintenance came and fixed at least the leak. Fortunately the board never gave way when the sink was filled with water. We also had to have maintenance come and adjust the backdoor7) to the deck as it wouldn't open or close via the knob. On the first day when we went to the office to voice our grave concerns the manager went to her office and stated she called the homeowner but he was unwilling to negotiate the contract. She went onto say that Coastal Vacation Resort's position was that the contract was between us and the homeowner; I found that very confusing and I guess correct via the "letter of the law," but we chose this house via their (Coastal vacation Resort) website, pics, and description. Also, (which was the least of our concerns,) the one pic with the hammock...it must be invisible cause we never did find it! We also found it interesting that on their website, you can "read" under "reviews" other's supposed experiences of the house, but there's not an option to write your own, or believe me this would be posted there as well. Again, PLEASE stay away from this house..as for Coastal Vacation Resorts, others might have a different experience, but because of the McDiamid house, we will never use this Rental company again. which is unfortunate as I'm sure they have many other fine homes. read more

First of all. Coastal Vacation Resorts is a top flight operation. My review, as they have managed my family's property for two decades, is a five star rating. The rating is for one of their properties, License to Chill. And the review is of the owner, not the real estate. That would be an insult to my dad who built this property. Again, I have been involved in the rental of my family owned property for 20 years. If you rent from this physcopath, get ready.... First of all, he will show up at 10 am basically tapping his foot waiting for you to leave. And if your not ready, get ready for a shitshow. My niece sat on his 20 year old pull out couch and it broke. I know its 20 years old because a family member of mine owned it for 20 years. My 13 year old son explained what happened and he deadpanned, "whose your cousin, John Candy?" My niece heard about this, and burst into tears as she is on the heavy side. What an asshole. Now, after talking to the current renters, I understand he has 3 cameras that are visible that he monitors remotely (and who knows how many that are not). He controls the HVAC remotely and keeps the inside temp at a rather uncomfortable 75 degrees. And YOU HAVE NO WAY TO CHANGE IT!!. It's a nice house, I know because my dad built it. Unfortunately it was sold to the current owners. Sleep on the beach and get torched by sand fleas. It's a better deal. read more

The only reason I'm giving Coastal Vacation Resorts one star is because Yelp will not allow me to give them 0. My husband and I rented a beach house at Holden the week of June 28. We arrived to find that the master bedroom, master bathroom, and second bathroom all reeked of marijuana and cigarette smoke. There was food crusted on the first bowl I pulled out of the cabinet, and there was a sticky ring of goo on my bedside table. The house had apparently been inspected for cleanliness, (cleanliness during a global pandemic was very important to us.) We were up cleaning/sanitizing until 3:00 am, and would have stayed the week if it were just the cleanliness that was a problem, because we could fix that ourselves. However, the smoke smell was horrible. We chose CVR because they are a non-smoking company and we have an infant. We emailed them, received no response, and called first thing Monday morning. They would not move us to another property, credit us to come back later in the summer, or refund us. Our only option was an Ozone treatment which would require us to be out of the house for 4-5 hours. (By the way, where does one go with an infant when everywhere is closed due to a pandemic?) We called our pediatrician and learned that both the residual smoke as well as the ozone treatment are unsafe for infants, and can cause lung damage. CVR did not care. After a terrible night's sleep in a tiny bed (we couldn't sleep in the master for the smell) with our daughter in the front of the house on the floor so she wouldn't be near the smoke residue, we had to pack up and leave on the first day of our beach trip that we paid for in full. Nikki at CVR had the nerve to tell my husband, "We can't babysit our renters. We won't take responsibility for the people before you that must have smoked." We will NEVER rent with CVR again. If smoke and fifth bother you, I would recommend you avoid them as well. read more

Up until this year we have been highly satisfied with CVR except for the fact that the house la we booked always had to be changed. This year the house we booked through CVR had bad plumbing, lights that did not work in several areas of the house bugs in the master bed and mold. We spoke to CVR about this and at first they we willing to help us out. They were to send out a plumber, never saw him. No refund was offered to us. I now understand why homes are pulling their contracts with CVR and going elsewhere or renting out through VRBO or Airbnb. I will NOT use CVR in the future. They received my last 3k+ read more

We were unable to inhabit our beach rental due to Tropical Storm Isaias. Coastal Vacation Resorts refuses to refund our $250 damage deposit because they are angry we consulted our credit card company for reimbursement of other charges. Coastal is responsible for refunding this deposit directly back to customers. Be aware that their travel insurance carrier is running months behind in claims processing. The staff has shown very poor, unprofessional customer service. read more

Truly frustrating and disappointing experience. Upon arrival at our unit around 7:00 p.m. after a seamless late check-in process, we noticed food particles and crumbs on the living room carpet, sand on the couches, and a litany of food particles and crumbs throughout the master bedroom. It was clear to us that a thorough cleaning had not been performed. We notified the company via email on Saturday night, called the office on Sunday morning (it was closed) to ensure that we provided adequate notification of our concerns within 24 hours. I'm not sure we would have received any communication back had we not called again on Monday morning when the office opened. When the receptionist answered the phone, she indicated that she would forward our email from the general inbox to the housekeeping supervisor, but that the housekeeping supervisor would not return to work until Tuesday. At no point were we offered the opportunity to have someone return to finish adequately cleaning our rental property until Tuesday, when we finally spoke to the cleaning manager. The company indicated that the previous tenants had left a significant mess and large cleaning task, the worst the housekeeper had encountered in 27 years cleaning for Coastal. We were never called to ask if a later check-in would be suitable because more time was needed for cleaning; the property was just certified as "inspected and ready for occupancy" with no regard for the residual mess that was left. We sent multiple emails throughout our stay to try to get our concerns about the cleanliness of the unit addressed, especially given health considerations around COVID. The company indicated in a subsequent call with a manager that the only response to a cleanliness concern was to send someone back to re-clean the property. No consideration was given or acknowledged for the 3.5 days/3 nights we spent in a house that wasn't adequately cleaned. We eventually spoke to a manager after emails were unanswered throughout the week, and the resolution to our issues and concerns from the company's point of view was that the issue had been resolved with a re-cleaning and that refunds are not part of their business practices. Further, the manager reiterated that we were just clients that they were going to be unable to please, and effectively dismissed our concerns. Our week in our property with Coastal was frustrating and the way our concerns were addressed was neither nor adequate. We enjoyed Holden Beach, but we will look elsewhere for a rental in the future. read more

My fiance and I booked a week-long beach trip at Holden Beach late in the season (September) so that we wouldn't have to interact with many other people as I have underlying medical conditions. I am susceptible to infection and this is the only trip that my fiance and I will take in 2020. Upon arriving at our rental beach house in Holden Beach we found that the place was disgusting. There were pieces of food and food crumbs all over several surfaces, primarily the living room carpet, dining room rug, and master bedroom floor. Further, there was sand on the master bed comforter and both couches. There were suspected bodily fluids (phlegm or feces) smashed on the wall leading into the bedroom. The coffee table, dining room table, breakfast nook table and the countertops in the kitchen had to be cleaned before I felt comfortable putting items on those areas. The worse was the carpet in the bedroom as we could identify the types of food that was left behind from previous tenant We immediately sent an email to the company explaining the issues we had encountered as it was Saturday evening and we were very unpleased by the lack of cleanliness of this property. We received no reply. We called on Sunday, but they were closed. We called on Monday and we were told that the cleaning manager was out and wouldn't be back until Tuesday. No one on staff offered to help resolve our disgusting beach house situation via email or phone from the time we arrived and emailed Saturday through the end of Monday. Also, apparently no one in the office had any way to help get someone to clean the property. My fiance went to the Coastal Vacation Resorts office on Tuesday and was told that the cleaning manager was in a meeting and he should call back in 30 minutes. He called back in 30 minutes and talked to the cleaning supervisor, who said they would get in touch with the cleaning person who handles this house and would call or email us when she be coming to clean. (We did not ever receive a call or email to inform us when she would be coming to clean). We came back from the beach with a note from the cleaning personnel stating that she was sorry and this was the dirtiest/unclean rental she had seen in 27 years. We called to talk to the the "manager" of this company who stated that at the beginning of the season in March/April they do a full deep clean of their properties and after that they do a a lesser weekly cleaning (not a full deep cleaning) as they have guests week to week (Saturday - Saturday) and do not have to time to deep clean each house. When we spoke to the manager from this company she told us there is a certain amount of time the cleaners have to take care of houses so she had to move on to the next house. She also said there were issues with the vacuum not working. This is very alarming given the fact that we are facing a global pandemic and it seems this company is doing what they normally do for cleaning and are not taking extra measures to make sure the homes are clean and disinfected to a standard that they claim on their website. As a person with underlying medical conditions who is very careful, especially during this time and this being our ONLY time leaving our home to go anywhere this year we were very disappointed to show up to a filthy house and get plenty of excuses as to why when the company should have just done their job and cleaned the place efficiently. The excuse I was given was that people who want to check in right at 3 become angry and frustrated when they can't get in right then. We didn't get our keys to check in until 6:30 PM so there was PLENTY of time for this property to be cleaned. The manager of this company was dismissive and unprofessional when we called to talk about our issues and one of the first things she said was "you seem to want money back" and "we don't do that." She dismissed several of our concerns and had no empathy toward the state of our rental, particularly after she concluded that she had figured out that we "wanted a refund." We never formally requested a refund; the manager brought it up multiple times on the phone along with the fact that the company does not issue refunds. The manager claimed that resolution for our issue was to send someone else out to clean the property and that the matter was resolved. No consideration was given to the three nights we stayed/slept in a filthy beach house. The manager began the phone call with an attitude, which only intensified as our conversation continued and she got to a point where she said she couldn't do anything to resolve our concerns or satisfy us and she hung up on us. Great customer service, huh? I DO NOT RECOMMEND RENTING FROM THIS COMPANY. YOU WILL NOT GET GOOD COMMUNICATION FROM THE COMPANY AND THEY ARE VERY UNCOOPERATIVE IN FIXING ANY PROBLEMS YOU MAY HAVE. Home rented was not to standards expected. Rental agency would not resolve issues. May 2013, I was looking for a vacation rental with specific amenities to have handicap access (due to my husband's Charcot-Marie-Tooth Muscular dystrophy disease) and oceanfront, for the week of 09/14/2013. I wrote an email inquiring and was sent a rental book in the mail. I found only one home that had these two amenities for rent this particular week, since we would be coming from grandson's graduation at Parris Island.I called Coastal Vacation Resort two times to inquire about this home. I asked specifically 'Is this home nice, up kept, modern, clean, in good condition?" I was told during both of my phone inquiries "Oh, yes. It's very nice"! Within 15 minutes of walking through the home and outside, I put a call into the rental agency to tell them we were highly disappointed and asked what they could do?? I was told I needed to speak to the VP; Mrs. Brown. She listened to my concerns/complaints,then informed me there was nothing they could do. I asked about moving us and we pay the extra if necessary. Mrs. Brown said she could NOT do that BECAUSE the owner of our rental home would get mad!?!?! I said, 'Well, we CANNOT stay in this dump!" with her response being "Why don't you stay until tomorrow and maybe you will feel better about the situation tomorrow? The weather is supposed to be really beautiful tomorrow." (When was I concerned about the weather?) Both agreed, we weren't staying there. I took pictures to the rental office to Mrs. Brown. I once again told her my complaints and showed her the pictures. Reservation # 255663 Unit # Hidden Treasure 821 OBW, Holden Beach, N.C. paid in full $1326.46 on May 07, 2013 for Arrival 09/14/2013-09/21/2013. 1. ROACHES crawling in the kitchen. I killed one and left it on a white coffee filter for them to see for themselves! 2. The furniture must have come from a dumpster instead of even a thrift store- it was so worn out! The bed mattresses were worn out and one when you sat down they felt like it was a box spring, which I even lifted the bedspread to make sure it was a mattress. 3. On one bed, there were 3 small dead bugs. I'm not a pest control professional, but I have sense enough to know if they are dead, they had to be alive at some point! (If there were 3 dead how many alive still? What kind were they?? ) 4. The floors in the living room were warped badly and with my husband having severe balance issues when walking, this would have been a true disadvantage for him. If he were to fall and break a bone, his healing would be slow and probably never heal right. 5. The bedrooms were so small that there was a small distance between the beds and the walls to get around the bed. For motion/movement impaired persons, this would be a problem. 6. When I called and inquired about this rental, I was under the impression it was a house. It's an old double wide (small) mobile home. I asked Mrs. Brown why we weren't disclosed this information and she said she didn't really know if it is a trailer or not, but possibly it is because before all the laws changed about specific buildings on the beach, they probably allowed mobile homes. 7. The deck was worn and boards loose in places. On the upstairs deck there was ONE rocking chair on it in poor condition. 8. deck also had a gate that was just sitting on the deck and not put up. This is a liability for the owner and the rental agency, because it did not secure the pool.I went over each of these concerns and pictures, Mrs. Brown did nothing to offer any kind of resolution. I told her, "I'm not taking a chance of taking roaches/bugs home!" She said, "There's nothing we can do!" I suggested as VP,to call the owner &tell him I would NOT rent his property any more until he did repairs/get rid of roaches.She said, "Well, the only problem is, we have 3 homes of his .I asked "Are all 3 of them like this dump you rented us? " She said, "Oh, NOO"(My opinion, based on her response, she already knew this to be unsatisfactory rental!) Needless to say, we left Holden Beach after 30 minutes and drove home which was a total of 13 hours on the road.
