The very large screened porch was a favorite place to dine, as the shade kept the summer heat at bay. The air conditioning worked exceedingly well, and the beds were quite comfortable. The master mattress was very firm, so if you need more cushioning bring a pad. It's a very easy, mostly shady walk to the beach, which pleased me. Usually a walk to the beach is hot, sweaty, and a little miserable as you lug your chair, towels, etc. I never felt that way walking from Down East Dream. My one complaint is that there is only four plates, knives, etc. So there are not enough dishes if you need more than one plate per person or to serve from. We will definitely return.

The listing advertised a "beautiful new home" -- what we got was filthy, infested, and absolutely not as advertised. The home had stained linens (what looked like urine), black mold in bathrooms, hair in showers, sticky furniture, and dirty dishes. When a deep clean was finally done, it disrupted hundreds of cockroaches, making the home uninhabitable. We had to get a hotel for safety and hygiene. The emergency line was not answered, and customer service was dismissive throughout. We were eventually refunded (minus insurance), but only after repeatedly chasing and being treated like we were the problem. I do not recommend this property or working with CVROI -- their customer service is slow, unhelpful, and defensive, even in situations involving health hazards.

Massive rental homes that are beautifully decorated. We've stayed here twice in different sections…read more(both times in winter) and LOVED both homes. Very family friendly and quiet. 6 person golf cart included for free with every rental home. People running the Hammocks were fantastic and greeted us at the ferry very late at night with our babies. All the homes are really decked out with electronics, board games, baby equipment, lots of extra kitchen appliances, etc. Massive screened porches and decks on the homes. seriously, can't say enough good things about this place and Bald Head Island. During our Christmastime stay we drove around the island and saw lots of deer and a few red foxes. Our babies were delighted. FYI, if you have small children, drive around in the golf cart with blankets during nap time. Our children napped for 2 hours while my husband & I enjoyed driving around the island. We came at Christmas and another time in January when the island is quieter, but we wouldn't hesitate coming during the summer to swim in the pool and ocean. Lots of scheduled activities during peak season.

Also black mold was present as well as not use of the elevator (forced to use dangerous spiral staircase). Presented these issues to OIA on the first day of our visit. They sent someone by on Day 2 to look at them and take photos. Never heard back from them!!!
