brown stew chicken, yellow rice, mixed vegetables - YUM
Hannah J.

Grateful my friend mentioned this place to some tourists, in front of me, as I'd driven by for years and didn't know! Easy to find, convenient parking, 3-4 tables inside and a homey vibe, and tons of menu options to mix and match. I had the brown stew chicken with yellow rice and mixed vegetables (zucchini, squash, peppers, onion, I believe) - DELICIOUS. Also I'm just a girl, so portion was enough for me to both snack later and have another lunch. Prince (working during my visit, pretty sure it's his spot) was friendly, and I overheard him talking to a guest who said she hadn't been in in a long time, and he said he remembers her, mentioning her daughter by name. It is so nice when business owners genuinely connect with their guests/community. Hoping to make it back soon! Thank you!

Go eat these ox tails. Some of the best Caribbean style ox tails I've ever feasted on. I murdered the 21$ plate. They don't skimp on portion size either, and if you have ever bought ox tails, you know they high! Un popular opinion, but I like their yellow rice over the rice and peas. I got both and smothered cabbage. All delicious and full of expansive flavors. Oh yeah grab you a meat pie too, they bussin.

Oxtails with white rice and greens

We stumbled in before doing an airport drop-off. We dined in and ordered oxtails and wings, various sides on the table. My oxtails were small and kind of tough. They gave an adequate amount I suppose. The wings are pretty big, they're wing pieces. They were kind of soft and chewy I'm use to a crunch with my jerk wings. The warmer probably softened them up. I don't like that. Greens were ok. White rice was good. The service was good. The owner or workers were pleasant and talked to us while we dined in. I'm sure it's the best for their area.

Jerk Chicken...

In my opinion, I would say best in Biloxi/Gulfport area...now, don't go comparing to any other area. Lol...but, I have tried the (3?) other spots in the area (I wouldn't recommend either of those). This place has a good variety/ flavorful/ prepared well- and I would recommend...

Stewed chicken

The first Jamaican spot that I have visited in Mississippi. All in all it was a very decent experience. It's a cafeteria style set up where you can select a variety of main dishes and sides. I was torn between the jerk and the stewed chicken. Played it safe and chose the stewed chicken for now. The cabbage was cooked down enough to be tender and the sweet plantains were delightful. I got a side of mac and cheese to try and that is not pictured and was not the biggest fan but it's edible. The lady taking everyones order was very sweet and everyone waited patiently for their turn to order. I'll definitely go again and try the jerk next time!

Escovitch Snapper

Every time I see a travel show in the Caribbean, they never fail to show some escovitch-style fish. When I saw Coastline offered this on their menu, I knew I wanted to try it. I finally got around to it one weekend and it did not disappoint. I loved the combination of flavors. The steamed veggies with the rice and peas were great sides. I highly recommend this!

Braised Oxtails...your taste buds will thank you!

This was my first time visiting and I was not disappointed. The food was great! I ordered the braised oxtails, cabbage, & rice and beans. They give you huge portions. I was completely satisfied. On my next visit, I think I will try the curry goat!

We have been down To the Caribbean many times before and this food is the second best Caribbean food we have ever had (the other was a stand on the side of the road in Costa Rica)... you will not have better food in the south! It supersedes all other food, It is a MUST do! Very very reasonable! The lunch special was about 7$ and very filling (we got the brown gravy chicken stew and the plantains were perfectly cooked and the collard greens were good (would recommend rice instead just to soak up the brown gravy) we got also two sides of meet for about 3$... the jerk chicken and the curry chicken are unbelievable... they even have a peanut drink! The place is very clean and the staff is friendly! I would give them 10 stars if I could! We came back on Saturday cause we wanted to get their ackee and fish breakfast which is good too and only done on Saturday... I am not a cabbage person but i would eat this cabbage all day

Too many dings with the health department. Food isn't seasoned well. The community would like better food and a cleaner environment.

Bonfire was not the first choice for dinner last night. We were headed to another restaurant but…read morethat place had an hour and a half wait. We were hungry so we decided on Bonfire. When we arrived at Bonfire me and my date were the only ones there. I have no idea how long it had been open but it looked brand new. The atmosphere was very pleasant. I loved the lighting fixtures and the design of the seating area. There was also a dj that added to the atmosphere. Bonfire being a Jamaican restaurant I thought it apt to order the Jerk Chicken. You get 2 sides with the entree. I ordered the mac and cheese and french fries. My date got the catfish along with the potato salad and french fries. I was eager to dig in when the food came back. First off the fries were very crisp and fried to perfection. The mac and cheese was delicious. It was some of the best I've had at a restaurant in a long time. The jerk chicken was absolutely amazing. It came with the jerk sauce on the side. Honestly, I really didn't need it. The chicken had a delicious smoked flavor. It tasted like chicken you'd eat at a summer bbq. I can not say enough about the jerk chicken. I tasted the catfish my date ordered and it was really good too. I really would love to come back here and try more things.

I have been coming here for years and why I haven't left a Yelp review, is beyond me…read more El Flamboyan is the ONLY reason you'll ever find me in the town of Ocean Springs. It is truly worth the 30+ minute drive because the authentic Puerto Rican flavor is undeniable. The ambience gives real Boricuan vibes. I sent a photo of my Medalla to some friends in the island and they really thought I was in PR. The roadside stand feel hits you with that island realness the moment you step out of your vehicle. While this is an outdoor venue, they do have many seating options if you'd like to stick around and enjoy the music and the vibe. The food can also be taken to go and everything on the menu is fantastic. On my last visit, went with a Medalla (Puerto Rican beer), carne guisada (stewed meat), tostones (fried plantains), and my own personal all-time favorite: ensalada de pulpo (octopus salad). Everything was so delicious. I would eat every meal here if I could. Last but not least, the folks working here are the BEST. They're friendly and you can tell they love what they do and they put their heart and soul into this amazing food.

Ordered arroz con gandules as a side and very tasty as well. Had a couple of Medalla Lights as well. If you are seeking indoor dining you're out of luck! All dining is also fresco under a tent so plan accordingly. Food takes time as it's made to order so please be patient. Nice Puerto Rican jams playing. Makes you feel like you are in PR. Owner was very nice.

I was initially in my feelings because they had a few "ain't gots" which is always annoying. But the customer service was legit. She was super cool. I am now so excited to try their other dishes. . .but I know that i will be getting the Jamaican patty every time with whatever I order - it was that good! The jerk chicken came with rice & beans, cooked cabbage, and flat cornbread. I know that the latter two food items have other names, but I don't know that they are. I just know that they were tasty! I'll also say that they chose a great location to open. I always drive on Cody Rd S, and I will be sure to stop by more often. Lastly, because they are new, they seem to be working out some of their issues. Be sure to call ahead if you really want a specific dish. They were out of an appetizer and an entree when I called. Their credit card machine was also acting up, so you might want to bring cash as a backup. I am sure that they will work out these issues in the near future.
