They then show up when we're leaving as if to suggest we didn't cancel. West Maui Taxi was able to turn around and book everything for me in under 30 minutes. I was able to organize payment so my guests didn't have to worry about that, the drivers also shared their contact information with the riders in case they needed return journeys at the end of the night. My guests said the drivers were all super friendly, and the whole experience lovely and smooth. Additionally, I've never circumnavigated the east side of Maui. We were talking to the Expedia Local Expert at the Papakea. She suggested a shared van for 12 people (kids ride for free or half). I noticed a flier for Carey's "Ultimate Hana Adventure, Private, full-day Maui limousine tour." She gave that sigh of "that would be nice." I said, no I want this. There were 4 of us, we got a Expedia Local Expert discount, plus an AARP discount, So, the price easier to swallow. We were picked up on-time at 8:00 AM by Bill. The GMC Yukon Denali was immaculate. We got on the road, it was clear that Bill's wealth knowledge blew away us old-timers. Our first stop was Anthony's in Paia for a light snack. Then we began the journey around the Hana side of Maui. Bill had all sorts of storied as well as little things we've never noticed. Maui has been in a drought for a while, so most of the waterfalls were dry. When we got to the Hotel Hana, we were escorted to a Lana'i dining area with a special menu for Carey travelers. Bill excused himself. So, we had a private lunch. He was such a great guy, I would have invited him to join us. But I guess there are protocols. We were back on the road, but didn't stop at the seven pools, none had water. At one point on the back road, there was a fast growing fire, Several of us stopped to shovel, rake, kick, etc. There's no cell coverage. I reached up and hit the Red On-Star button. I was on the phone with Maui County Emergency in less than 2 minutes. We continued our journey around the back side of Maui. I asked Bill if we could take a back road to avoid 37, and the whole Dairy Road mess. It was worth the extra money and would consider doing it again.
