I continue to be thankful for Randy and Cobblestone Shoe Repair, as he just polished one pair, and replaced the sole on my second pair of work shoes. My wife helped me learn of the benefit of getting better quality shoes... those that can have soles and heels replaced are likely better for your feet than shoes made other ways. Randy also sells fine shoes, including Alden, which are hand-made in Massachusetts... they fit my feet just right, and they look good and that gives me extra confidence. Randy can also repair most things made of leather, and he is just an all-around great guy. I would give Randy 6 out of 5 stars, or an 11 on a scale-of-10. Thanks, Randy!! read more

The owner was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about all manner of footwear. He recommended some shoes that work very well on my wide feet. He recommended some very reasonably priced orthotics to help my foot problem (plantar fasciitis). I bought some silicon tape he recommended to solve the blister problem on my right foot from backpacking. He also repaired a couple pairs of shoes for me. I needed a pair of boots re-soled and had another pair that I was just about ready to toss due to a crappy job performer by a place near Olive & Fee Fee. (In a dry cleaner). I talked to Randy on the phone and he told me to bring them in and he'd re-sole and put new caps on the one pair, and take a look at the other pair. He told me right away what was wrong with them, so I left both pairs with him. Within a week, I had them back and I couldn't be happier. I would highly recommend him for boot and shoe repair. I'm going to take a gun case that needs a bit of repair in as well. I'm confident that will turn out as well as the boots. I'll update this review after that repair. read more

Ok everyone, the guy is gruff. He doesn't suffer fools. Get over it! He does really good work with quality materials like JR soles for that resole of a decent shoe. I've had plenty of nice calf and shell cordovan shoes through his store and received great results. He's even resoled my Birkenstocks. [Why? No break-in again on the leather upper straps if you were wondering.] I've watched him dismiss someone who basically thought he would let them try a bunch of different show laces on their shoes. (And thought he would lace them for them!) The guy has a backroom full of work from locals and internet referrals to do and economically cares more for the $150 resole of some Aldens than someone walking in for the first time with a $10 request for heel pads that believes he should drop everything for them. I am a recurring customer and have a wonderful report with him. He can be quite pleasant and engaging. Could he be nicer to people? Yes. Should he be nicer? Probably. Do people walk in expecting to have their posteriors kissed? Yes. He is a good place to buy Alden dress shoes, btw. read more

Craftsmanship is on point! I've had several shoes repaired by Randy-- from simple heel tips to resoles to dinged leather repairs-- and he produces top quality outcomes for a fair price every time. I've emailed photos of repairs I need and he sends a quote back in usually less than an hour-- even on Sundays. He has even advised me on home repairs for leather furniture. Oh this was not a good experience. Called the guy to find out if he could die a pair of shoes I had, just to make them darker. He said it would be no problem and to bring them in. So, I went and had my dress tailored to fit this heal, excited that I would actually have shoes that matched. Then I brought the shoes in, and much to my dismay, the guy, very rudely informed me they were undyable. I told him that he said on the phone they would be easily died darker, and he told me, again, very rudely, that I couldn't rely on anything he said to me on the phone. UM, what? If you knew you had to see the shoes, I gladly would have brought them in for him to see before I relied on his word. So the moral of the story, don't trust anything this guy tells you. And don't rely on anything he promises you, because I have had other friends come here and end up with shoes completely different from what he guaranteed...and he DID see those shoes first. This is a great place and Randy is wonderful! I would not go any other place. He does great work...is very honest and really cares about his customers and is very patient. I had a pair of sneakers that needed some new soles. The finished product looked great but unfortunately were uncomfortable because I have very sensitive feet. Randy totally understood my situation and has been working very hard to come up with a solution which will work for me. I've taken shoes here to be re-soled, re-dyed, and to have the heels fixed. The work was done well, but was expensive. Also, I took in a pair of burgundy-colored shoes, and although the guy claimed he was going to mix the dye to match exactly, I got the shoes back a much duller and less charming color. Frankly, they're red shoes, I would have preferred that they come back too bright than too dark. I have been hearing some rumblings in the 'hood, though. The owner seemed to me a man of few words, but there are rumors he's been rude to other people that have come in. but you know how it is... I ain't one to gossip, so you ain't heard that from me. I'll probably continue to go there, since it's right next to both Starbucks and the grocery store, but I'll still be on the lookout for that "great shoe guy" who will make all my footwear young and beautiful again. read more

I've read the other reviews on Cobblestone and I'm shocked to say the least! I dealt with Randy via email, as I live in Atlanta and their repair shops were all the way in Missouri. I was VERY apprehensive about shipping my fiances' Christian Louboutin heels to some random company I found on the internet. In my hesitation, I called my Saks Fifth Avenue saleswoman and asked her if she had any recommendations for a place that could put on the red sole protectors. She gave me a local place that boasted on their website their longevity and quality of work. I took in a pair of shoes and he charged me $120 AND I had to pre-pay. I was miffed to say the least. A week later I picked up the one pair from the local shop. It was done right, but the red sole protector they used did not match the rest of the red sole. A week later I received the two pairs back from Randy at Cobblestone...and they were DEAD ON! The quality was excellent and my fiance was extremely pleased. I have her latest pair of Louboutin boots that I am on my way to ship to Randy. You have a client for life!!! read more

I'm sad. My beautiful, ivory wedding Louboutins took 2+ months on a quote of two weeks to be returned to me. I had to follow up numerous times by calling and emailing and finally just walked in to demand them back. After $90, on a quote of $40, they unfortunately look worse on the outside than before. They were able to repair the lining that was moved by dancing at my wedding, but not worth what happened to the ivory satin. The red used to paint the bottom bled into the fabric and they look dingy and damaged from scrubbing, admittedly by their team. However, no offer of any type make good in the slightest. I won't go back - not that I'll ever have a chance to have my wedding shoes restored again. read more

While visiting St. Louis, I visited Cobblestone shoe repair and found this product called Lock Laces for my Brooks Tennis shoes. They save me from having to keep tying my shoe laces. I have sent them shoes to repair for me and I am impressed with the quality of materials they use to help my shoes last longer. They also are very good with re-coloring them and adding a weather and stain protector to help my shoes stay looking better longer too. Please, if you are reading this, go somewhere else. We've been to this repair store quite a few times. Why we keep going back is beyond me, but that is neither here nor there. While no experience has been pleasant, this visit took the cake. Back in Spring of 2016, my mother brought her purse in to be re-dyed. A few weeks after pick up, she noticed the leather on the handle had started to peel. (The extent of my mother's purse use is minimal, mind you, so any discoloring was minute). In early September, my mother brought her pink Coach purse BACK in for the handle to be re-dyed. Before going in to the store, my mother had to call and make sure her purse had been finished - She hadn't heard anything from them for weeks (September 9th drop off date, November 4 pick up date). During the phone call, the owner acted as if it was her fault for not receiving the email (thinking it had gone to spam). When my mother arrived at the store, the owner brought her purse back in a white Target-like plastic bag. She opened the bag and was devastated. The once flawless light pink purse had dark stains ALL over it. ALL over. It was as if a mechanic with dirty hands had handled the bag. The handle was a bright pink color, nothing like the original color or the rest of the bad, that felt like plastic and looked like it had been painted by a toddler and there are dark pen marks in two places. Again, my mother takes pristine care of her belongings, so the thought of it possibly not being her purse came to mind because it looked so different than the purse she had dropped off. She immediately confronted the owner who in turn slammed his hands down on the desk, looked to the side, and sighed as if my mother had just insulted him to the greatest extent. She explained to him that she had paid him for his service, and this was not how she brought it to him - it's completely discolored. The pictures posted are the outcome of the re-dying. This purse was in pristine condition, minus the peeling handle. We are ridiculously upset with the results of the double re-dying of her bag. It is completely ruined. So please, don't go there with nice items, because they will not come back how you are hoping they will. read more

The customer service at this place is terrible. I went in seeking assistance with removing a high heel tack stuck in a single shoe. The guy behind the counter was extremely rude!!! He told me I needed to bring in both shoes. I tried explaining I only needed the tack removed from one shoe, the is perfectly fine. He interrupted and said I needed to repair both shoes, not just the one. Then he indicated he cost would be $15. Ridiculous!!! In conclusion, I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Customer service was definitely borderline disrespectful and poor quality. I had a pair of heals that needed a new sole. I was told it would take a week. It took a month! I stopped each week and was told the sole was on order. Finally, on the fourth week I went in to find they replaced my tan suede sole with a white leather sole, lumpy and poorly installed. It was uncomfortable, so I went in a week later to ask for a refund. No apology, he just said well for a full refund I have to have the sole back...of course I didn't care...it was bad anyway...he ripped it off right then and there...gave me the refund...but no apology for the delays, or poor job. Scuffed, scratched, and got dirt on a brand new pair of Chanel shoes. My shoes were brought in when they were brand new so I could get something put on the bottom to prevent the leather from wearing. When I came to pick them up they were covered in dirt, scratches, and scuff marks. The owners son in law was very nice and said they could fix them and to come back in a few days. However when I came to pick them up the owner ( the older gentlemen) referenced in the other comment, was extremely rude and disrespectful. The shoes were not fixed and I asked for a refund and he refused. He even went as far to use a condescending and inaccurate analogy ( there will be no refund. We are just a small business trying to make a living. If you bought a pair of shoes at a department store and you ruined them, would you return them?). Which I responded " No, I wouldn't. If they were ruined when I bought them I would". After that he said " you can take your shoes but there will be no refund". After this I had to send the shoes to Chanel to get fixed. I had to pay for this service too. So basically I paid for my shoes, $50 for this guy to ruin them, and $100 for Chanel to attempt to fix them. He also got dirt on a pair of Manolo's, fortunately it was a different fabric then the Chanel shoes, which the dirt permanently stained sections of it . I also had to pay him to screw up my Manolo's which he would not refund either. I have never been more infuriated in my entire life! This man is the most unpleasant, rude, condescending, and deceitful person I have ever met in my entire life. I am completely infuriated as I write this. This shop, where I have been a regular customer for several years, has completely ruined two pairs of semi-expensive shoes that I asked that they re-sole. In both cases, they applied a sole to a larger area than needed and as a result, the shoes (heels) are bowed and now too big. Completely un wearable. And, to make it worse, one has to pay for the service upfront and they refused to refund my payment. Do NOT take your shoes there. When I went to Cobblestone the first time, the owner told me that my regular shoe repair shop, Graff Shoe and Luggage, was out of business for not paying rent and that he used shoddy materials and craftsmanship. Later I found out Graff was only a mile away in a new shop at 13710 Olive. Before I discovered the lie, I had Cobblestone resole a pair of shoes that took weeks longer than promised and at a very high price. Then Cobblestone told me a pair of my J&M's were not repairable, and tried to sell me a new pair of shoes. I found out that Graff was still in business, so I took them there and he made my J&M's good as new, at less than half the price Cobblestone charged for a repair.
