I hadn't been to Fleet Feet in years! I was shopping with one of my (adult) daughters and she needed a new pair of athletic shoes so we came here. I don't remember the name of the gal who helped us, but she was great! She was very knowledgeable about the various brands/styles they carried. She was also friendly and personable. My daughter was asked to do something on two pieces of equipment (for lack of a better word). This gave the staff member information that helped her narrow down what shoes would be best for my daughter. There had already been questions asked about what the shoes would be used for, etc. A few different brands and sizes were brought out and tried on and walked around in. Pros and cons were discussed and a shoe was chosen. A lot happened while we were there, but it didn't take a long time and things kept moving. We were never sitting there waiting for long periods of time. I've been to buy athletic shoes at another well known store and the process takes entirely too long. I only visit Fleet Feet about once a year. Apparently you're supposed to switch your running shoes out more often than that, but mine really do last that long! Or maybe I'm just not running enough?! I've always worn Hokas, but lately they haven't been getting the job done. I was interested in something new but had no idea where to start, so I knew it was time for a visit to Fleet Feet. The staff is always extremely helpful. They don't try to push things on you... everything is about a zillion dollars anyway, so whatever shoes you buy, they're making a great sale! They always seem focused on helping me find what's right for me at the time. On my latest visit, I was fitted in a pair of Cloud Surfers and I'm so happy with the change! Oh, and the best part about this store is that you can try your shoes and return them within SIXTY DAYS if they aren't the perfect option. That's pretty incredible! This isn't a spot I need too often, but when I do, I am never disappointed. I will always make this my stop for my running needs! read more

Every time I have shopped at Fleet Feet I have been more than satisfied with the help I have received there. On my most recent trip, Katie helped me pick out the best shoes for my needs. She was patient and informative. Another big perk of the store is the technology used to help find the best fit specific to your foot. The few times I have attempted to purchase a pair of shoes on my own has left me frustrated and wasting money. It's definitely worth going in to get fitted properly -- especially if you have any issues with your back, feet, etc. Bonus that they have a rewards program. :) read more

I'm a self-proclaimed sneaker addict. I have had many good experiences at Fleet Feet getting fit for, and purchasing, running shoes. I dropped by on Thursday evening though because I know all Fleet Feet St. Louis locations are drop-off locations for Shoeman Water Projects. You drop your shoes off and their shoe collection efforts improve our planet by keeping wearable, usable shoes out of local landfills and directing them to a secondary market for reuse both locally and globally. They use the shoe revenue to provide clean water in communities in developing countries. I got rid of 2 pairs that will no longer serve me and they went to a great place! So glad Fleet Feet participates. read more

Very mediocre running store, would classify similarly to the Road Runner Sports chain. Prices are average to high average on shoes and apparel. Shoe selection is limited especially if you want a technical (both trail and road) shoe. For example, they carry no racing flats because the purchaser doesn't like buying zero drop shoes (not sure if this is due to a market interest thing, a personal opinion about zero drops, or a combination of both). The sales people are nice enough, but in general they are not that knowledgeable compared to other stores in the area and around the country that I've been to. The store is definitely a retail establishment first, running company second. In my opinion the store is decent if you're buying a first pair of running shoes or if you know exactly what you want (and know they stock it), but if you want something more complex or in depth, go elsewhere read more

I'll be the first to admit that I am a form-over-function chooser of shoes (yes, that includes athletic shoes). When my shins and feet were sending up warning flares after wearing a three-year old pair of asics tigers for running on the treadmill, I heeded my mom's suggestion and headed over to Fleet Feet to be fitted for an actual (gasp!) performance pair of shoes. I took a number and did not have long to wait. The sales associate who helped me fed my data into a computer and brought out some pairs of shoes for me to try. She even let me know that I needed arch supports, as one arch had collapsed thanks to a high-heel habit. I tried on all of the pairs of shoes she brought out, even running outside in front of the store, which doubtless provided some comic relief to the patrons at the Subway sandwich shop located further down in the strip mall. The service here was attentive and friendly, and I appreciated that the salespeople don't try to push the most expensive items. I also took advantage of the sports bra fitting. Little did I know that the champion sports bras that are my default for working out are the preferred attire of 12-year old girls, but I guess I do now. Faith is the Best. My husband I came into the store on Thurs. 7/28 afternoon and were immediately greeted by Faith and her smiling trainee, Sam. We had purchased a Garmin Forerunner 55 previously and we could not get it working properly. Faith said no problem, and synced with my phone, she changed the watch face with features that my husband wanted and she organized the exercise features that my husband would be using. She very patiently showed me how to operate the watch and gave me time to write the instructions on the watch face diagram that I brought with us. She kept telling me that I almost had the watch running and she made sure that I did not feel like a dummy. Faith and all your other wonderful associates are the reason we have always purchased our exercise gear from Fleet Feet since you opened your first store in St. Charles. Kid 1 decided to run track this year AFTER I had invested in some "running" shoes for her PE class. I put running in quotes because they were technically running shoes, but not bought with the amount of use in mind that running track would require. Rather than investing $100+ in some new shoes for a sport right off the bat, I decided to see if these worked out (and if she continued past the first few days of practice.) After the first two weeks of practice, she was having pain in her arches so we took her shoes in to FF to have them make a recommendation. After checking the quality/condition/fit of her shoes, they recommended that we try out a pair of insoles rather than buying new shoes. I like them already... We took the insoles home and she ran in them a couple more weeks before coming home with a blister. Back to FF. Based on some questions, it was determined that her socks (combined with her sweaty feet) were the likely culprit. Sold us a couple of pair of synthetic, friction-reducing socks, made a recommendation for foot powder, and sent us on our way. No issues since. Both of the employees who helped us were very knowledgeable. Not only about their products, but about runner's issues in general. You could probably buy the products online for less money, but I don't mind paying a little more to support a local business and get the individualized attention. For the record, Kid 1 stuck with track for the entire season and plans to run in college next year. read more

I run a lot. A lot. Therefore, I go through several pairs of running shoes a year. I usually buy from Big River Running (I love the guys who own the stores--so helpful and sweet). I'm a loyal Big River customer. But now that we've moved from the city to Chesterfield, I thought I'd give Fleet Feet a try. I was so disappointed. I understand that you take a number, and wait to be helped, but I felt out-of-place. I like stores where you're greeted when you enter. I like for store employees to acknowledge that I'm there. I understand if they're busy, but when someone is standing there clueless, greet them and kindly direct them to the numbers. It took me forever to realize that you have to take a number to be assisted. Frustrated with the long wait and the lack of friendliness, my husband and I left without buying anything. I will not be switching to Fleet Feet, but will continue going to Big River, where the guys always greet me. And if they're busy, they politely tell me they will be with me in a momemt. read more

I had heard that Fleet Feet was the place to buy athletic shoes, and I wasn't disappointed. As someone who has bad feet...most shoes hurt, I have wide feet and bunions, and wear arch supports...I knew I needed to go someplace where the staff was really trained to fit you properly. Each salesperson handles only one customer at a time, so you take a number when you arrive. I only waited a few minutes. After doing a few things to measure my feet and asking questions about what type of exercise I do, my salesperson brought out a few pairs to try on. She was smart enough to recognize that I would do better in a pair of men's shoes, and brought out a couple to try on. After I found a pair that was reasonably comfortable, she walked me to the sidewalk in front of the store and watched me run for a bit. Based on the way I run, she determined that I needed a specific type of arch supports. So why 4 stars instead of 5? The pair I bought with the arch supports I bought actually hurts my feet a little when I work out. I think the arches just aren't exactly right. When I swapped back my old arch supports into the shoes, they were better. I AM very happy with the shoes and will go back when this pair wears out. Though I didn't take advantage of the service, they also offer sports bra fittings. As they send you an email with some bucks to spend in their store when you spend a certain amount, I guess I'll be taking my $15 back and buying a properly-fitted sports bra soon. read more

One of the main reasons why I love this store is the group runs they organize. When I first moved to St. Louis I knew nobody and looked to join a running group. I found fleet feets and it changed my whole view on the Lou. I immediately felt at home with this group and rarely miss a run now. The group meets every Thursday for a 3-5 mile run during the winter and in the summer they meet at a local high school to do speed work. The regulars in the group make any newcomers feel right at home. Most meet up for pizza and beer afterwards which gives you the opportunity to get to know everybody a little better. Cole and Lindsay organize the runs every week and are both very knowledgeable on all topics running and are always there to encourage you to keep it up and setting goals for yourself. l have turned to them for advice on health and fitness numerous times. I HIGHLY recommend this running group to any new runner to the Lou. Thursday's are my favorite nights now, and I'm actually on my way out to do speed work now! read more

I went to Fleet Feet to find the right shoes for me, and I did. Love my purchase and the service I received from the sales person that helped me, but I will not be shopping here again. I think if they could have fitted me for my shoes and taken my money without ever seeing me in the store they would have. I stopped in to this Fleet Feet location to pick up my packet for the Chesterfield Turkey Trot, so they were quite busy. The packet pick up was very well organized, and I was in and out quickly, after picking up a 13.1 ornament to celebrate my fall accomplishment with a tree display, of course! I usually go to the Des Peres location, but this one also seemed well laid out, and I recognized some friendly and helpful faces from other running events. Highly recommend Fleet Feet! read more

Maybe the caliber of employee has increased over the last year since the negative reviews because I had a great experience here recently. Mr. G's birthday is coming up and since he's been getting into running more (much like his runaholic wife here) I thought I would surprise him with a trip to Fleet Feet for a fitting and true 'running' shoe. Being an avid runner I know that you get what you pay for with running shoes and if you have the proper shoes, your running will go to new levels. That being said, good running shoes aren't cheap. That's why the fashionable 'running shoes' don't last and give you aches and pains (side note: if you have pains in your legs, feet, back, etc. the likely culprit is bad running shoes). So going in, I knew I would be spending somewhere between $100-150 on good shoes. When we walked in we were greeted right away and taken to the fitting area. Kim was the associate helping us and she took lots of time to ask us questions about what we were looking for and got a background on what Mr. G had done before with running. She looked at his feet, measured them and explained throughout the entire process what she was looking for so we were informed. I think that is so helpful for people who are new to running; even veterans could learn a thing or two. She entered all of the information into her IPAD which told her what type of shoes were best for him. She brought out three pairs and the very first pair (Brooks) he tried on he loved. She watched him run in them outside to make sure they looked correct on him. Along the way she had him try the inserts as well, but he preferred the shoes without them. She definitely was not pushy about up-selling which I appreciate. Kim was so nice and personable, every place of business could benefit from an employee like her. Mr. G has since ran in his new kicks and absolutely loves them. He can't believe how much of a difference they make. So if you are brand new to exercise or a seasoned pro, check this place out. They also have awesome training programs for all levels from beginners to advanced runners. read more

The staff was VERY knowledgable & thorough. The service reminds me of the old old full service gas stations when they were called service stations. They really know your feet & will put you in a few pairs of shoes based on your foot, size, arch, etc. she put 5 different pairs of shoes on me & had me run on the sidewalk out front each time about 25ft & back & watched my feet & ankles. I was fitted with full inserts that quickly customized each shoe I tried on. The inserts are really tough & seem like they will hold up much better than the cheap Dr. Sholes I picked up at Walmart or a whopping $50.00 after using that foot analysis computer deal. At fleet feet the inserts are replacements for the existing inside your or your new shoes so no one can tell you have "special" inserts & the inserts only cost $40.00. This place is great their were no snobs, they seemed like they were runners & athletes themselves. I have already recommended this place to my friends & coworkers. I bought a pair of the wic away Aspire socks for running going to try them out. I bought two sets of the inserts, one for my work boots & one for my running shoes. My next pair of running shoes will come from Fleet Feet. Today real compassionate service is not so common, great job guys. read more
