The Dallas Art Museum is free for most of the museum, with special exhibits costing extra, but honestly there is plenty to see without spending a dime. They have Renoirs, Picassos, Monets, and so much more. The bathrooms are surprisingly very nice, the AC was absolutely on point, and it was not crowded when we visited. A perfect spot to get a little culture in between meals. Honestly, a must hit for out of town visitors looking for something fun to do that does not involve eating. Be sure to hit the gift store too, a museum gift shop is usually well curated, and this one is no exception! (though I will say the lady working the store had a sh:tty attitude)

The DMA has a supporter membership for $120. It includes parking which would cost you $20 otherwise. You also get two free admission tickets that you can use to view the museum's collections or any special exhibitions each and every day of the year. The membership will also provide a discount at the museum store and in the snack bar. Visit twice during the year, and the membership more than pays for itself. You can buy your membership online, print the receipt, and show it for free parking. Once inside the venue, show the receipt at the check-in desk to get your free tickets to the special exhibit(s). Your DMA cards will be mailed to you in four weeks, in the mean time, use that printed receipt for everything. We renewed our membership this weekend April 2026 and went to see the Samurai Collection. Metalwork is not a favorite of mine, but I was still fascinated by the stories presented on the placards throughout the exhibit and I certainly appreciated the beautiful, intricate craftsmanship presented in each piece. I didn't realize that the Samurai swords and armor had been banned from production in Japan, so the metal workers pivoted and learned to become artisans. They started to make and repair metal embellishments, lanterns, and incense burners for the numerous temples in the country. Many of the items in this collection were from Kyoto and Nara, both places my husband and I visited in November 2009. The full body armor was fascinating. Little pieces of leather were coated in metal, painted, and woven tightly together to form a moveable, but protective layer over the body. The workmanship was exquisite. The exhibit had a few short videos you could watch to learn about the work. I especially liked the 30 second clip about the process of making cloisonné. These vases are beautiful and the process to make each one is detailed and meticulous. Kids could collect a postcard-sized scavenger hunt near the entrance and use that to stay in engaged throughout the visit. At the end, there was a sign on the wall with the answer key pictures showing which art pieces help the intricate designs they were looking for. The DMA has a permanent collection that includes a variety of art from around the globe, as well as multiple special exhibits throughout the year. Everyone is bound to find something that delights them and inspires conversation and wonder. Worth a visit!

You can buy some souvenirs such as postcards, T-shirts, book about the history of the mustangs, pins, etc. I was fortunate that they had 20 percent off. The lady at the museum was very sweet and helpful. The museum definitely needs upgrades in technology. She wrote down the original total of my merchandise, calculated the discount on a calculator, wrote down the discount, entered each item on the computer. It was really time consuming. They also didn't accept Apple Pay.

The Mustangs are located in a hip active area that offers music museums cafes restaurants and and sightseeing. Definitely worth 5 minutes of your time, but you might find yourself spending the day.

The garden in the spring is beautiful with the flowers in bloom. You really feel like you are in nature with all the different plants, trees, trails, a creek, wooden bridge, wild flowers, and serenity. This time I avoided the parking fee by parking in a free lot at SMU and walking 10 minutes to the Bush Center. Overall, the gardens are a gem in Dallas. They are completely free and in some ways just as nice as the Arboretum, just smaller.

The lady at the front desk was welcoming and knowledgeable about the museum. I like the addition of interactive pieces in the museum which made the experience better. They have a souvenir stand at the back and a guessing game. If you win the guessing game you get to choose between two shirts. I got the Roanoake tape measure and a free shirt from the guessing game. All in all it was a lunch break well spent and the ladies working there were lovely. I recommend stopping by if you are in the area.

They commence by escorting you and your children throughout their beautiful and wonderful exhibits. They are so kind and gentle with your children. These marecoulous women get your children engaged in the historical world of Roanoke, Texas. I felt like I traveled back in time. Best of all, our friends were allowed to participate and expand on their knowledge. All their questions were answered so patiently and the children were allowed to touch certain items and explore. The kindness of all these women blew my mind. They even hugged us without hesitation at the end of our unscheduled tour. Also, we are now in their Facebook page, so Yes, they made us famous. I highly this interesting exhibit, with caveats. It was very informative and I saw many new and…read moreinteresting details about the Sistine chapel that I had never realized. You will learn the extreme lengths Michelangelo went to over 4 years to create these paintings. You will see up close the fine detail and will learn where Michelangelo's self portrait is and why he portrays himself this way. Do NOT SKIP the audio device. I bought a VIP package, and the clerk only gave me the option to scan a bar code and listen on my cell. I did not being ear buds so this was a waste to me. Later, as the exhibit got busier, I saw the audio devices, so that was annoying that I wasn't given that option. Finally, the paintings followed a good flow but the informational panels and accompanying audio are numbered and the numbers do not match the flow. The hand held devices could simply scan in. I had to scroll through a website. I also did not like the lighting. While this is a temporary exhibit, the lighting could have been improved. I was not impressed with the exposed extension cords. Each exhibit had a stand alone light fixture, and most of the cord was tucked away. But the plugs were exposed. Finally the light itself was harsh. It looked good on the wall, but was glaring when you needed to read the informational panel. I bought a book for $12 at the end. It essentially shows each panel separately and contains the same information as the wall description. I would have loved to have this in my hand while walking through. Finally, don't miss the video presentations. I do recommend this exhibit. If they would spend a little extra effort, I would make it a high recommend.

As hotel guests, we were supposed to skip lines, but the staff didn't check our status, threw us in a normal line and we didn't realize until waiting in line for nearly 50 minutes that there was a separate line being honored, even though two employees of ICE were told by us that we were hotel guests and we showed our hotel bands. It is lovely and magical, but the amount of people in each 15 minute group was overwhelming.

She's going through breast cancer treatment and needed some holiday cheer. Bought tickets online, and even with the senior discount for all four tickets, we paid $212. We planned to see all the hotel's beautiful decor and then enjoy a nice meal in one of the hotel's restaurants after seeing ICE! NOWHERE, absolutely NOWHERE on the ICE! web site or the Gaylord's site does it mention the true blue nightmare that is parking, nor does it mention or suggest buying in advance a parking pass for the garage nearest the ICE! exhibit. One must search for info on parking to find that out. We would have paid another $25 per vehicle, but it would have saved MANY steps and much frustration. We were coming from Plano and found the parking garage was full. Our friends from Granbury were apparently about two minutes behind us pulling onto the Gaylord's grounds. We went to the front of the hotel to valet park. Valet was crazy busy but efficient considering there were long lines four rows deep with a mixture of overnight guests loading and unloading luggage, day visitors coming and going, etc. We were shocked to find out valet was $27 and NO CASH. We didn't see another choice, so we used valet services. Although right behind us, our friends were waved away because "valet was full." They were routed to a remote lot where a shuttle picked them up and dropped them off at the back of the hotel. We, of course, were at the front. It took quite a while to navigate the massive hotel to find each other. We made the fairly long walk to ICE! and proceeded through the maze and many stops along the way of getting inside the exhibit. Once in our (very hot while outside the exhibit) parkas, we inched along a long snaking line for at least 30 minutes while all those in front of us stopped for the professional photographer to take their pictures. We knew we wouldn't purchase any photos and wanted to skip that step. They wouldn't allow that. So we had our picture taken, got the claim ticket and moved into the exhibit. The exhibit itself was cute. The artistry of the ice carvings is quite impressive. The Grinch That Stole Christmas theme wasn't nearly as good as previous years. It seems to be a smaller exhibit than others, but it was still enjoyable. I'm not a fan of the Grinch stuff and would have preferred another theme, but it was well done. As we emerged from the cold, we were asked for our claim ticket for the photos. A nice young lady brought over our already printed photos... one 8x10 in a cute ICE! themed cardboard frame, two 4X6 prints, and a cute little frame that looked like a snow globe to hold one of the 4X6 prints. The cost? A whopping $45! That's the smallest package they offer. No option to buy just the 8X10 or the two 4X6 prints. Not a chance we were going to spend that kind of money on photos even if they were good. We thought they might make a deal rather than discard what they'd already printed, but nope. They'd only accept $45. No pictures for us. Upon leaving the exhibit, patrons are sort of "dumped" into a very large gift shop, much like the Disney and Universal Studios parks do. One must navigate the gift shop to get out of the ICE! area. The gift shop opens into a large open area with an ice skating rink (additional fee), a merri-go-round (additional fee), and a Build-a-Bear station (additional fee). There is NO SEATING in this entire area. There is a place to buy BBQ (as I recall) and drinks, but no seating. My friend wanted a Christmas ornament from the gift shop as a memento, so the rest of us stepped out of the fray and had to stand while she waited behind at least 25 people to pay for her purchase. No seating doesn't make sense except that Gaylord wants people to move around and spend money. Once leaving the ICE! area, we walked the fairly long distance back to the hotel and made our way around to where the restaurants are. That isn't a short walk either and was quite congested with people. Once we reached the restaurant area, we were met with a sign saying the restaurants were ALL reserved for overnight hotel guests only. So we've spent all this money, navigated the expensive parking nightmare, fought ridiculous crowds, and now we're not welcome to have a sit down meal in the hotel. Thankfully Grapevine has many fine offerings, so we left the Gaylord, tired and frustrated, and made our way elsewhere for our meal. There is no doubt the Gaylord Texan is aware of these many issues. They don't care about warning local patrons so plans can be made accordingly because the hotel is making money hand over fist. So incredibly disappointing. We won't bother including ICE! or the Gaylord Texas in future holiday plans as they were inhospitable hosts who clearly don't care about the comfort and convenience of their patrons.

You can pay $10 to park in a nearby parking garage. We visited for the Total Solar Eclipse. There were food trucks, port-a-potties and other vendors. Beautiful view of the lake and plenty of room to set up our blanket and chairs to enjoy the day.

They had dancing and performances on a stage and seating available for you to sit and eat your food. It is located at the Asian Times Square plaza so there was plenty of parking and other things to do if you don't want to partake solely in the festival. This was a pleasant surprise but if you're not ready to be in a large and loud crowd then steer clear because it was absolutely packed. Highly recommend if you are looking for a fun and free event to attend over the weekend. :)
