I attended a tour and tasting at Maeve Chocolate and left impressed. The tasting featured six…read moredistinct chocolates -- everything from bright, fruity single-origin bars to richer, high-cacao pieces -- and while all were tasty, I generally preferred the darker, more complex offerings. The textures were clean and the flavor development in the dark bars (bitter-sweet, with subtle fruit and spice notes) stood out. The tour guide They were excellent, personable, clearly passionate, and very knowledgeable about bean sourcing, tempering, and flavor profiling. Their demos on conching and tempering made the process tangible without getting bogged down in jargon. Some history Maeve Chocolate's shift from the Seattle Chocolate name reflects a move to emphasize craft, single-origin sourcing, and a modern identity that better represents their focus on ethical sourcing and flavor-driven small-batch production. The new name and packaging celebrate provenance and the personalities behind the beans, while preserving the company's Seattle roots and commitment to quality. Highlights Six thoughtfully curated samples showcasing a range of cacao percentages and origins. Strong preference for the dark chocolate line -- nuanced, well-balanced, and memorable. Informative, engaging guide and a concise, behind-the-scenes look at production. Friendly tasting pace that allowed time to savor each piece and ask questions. If you appreciate chocolate craftsmanship and want a guided tasting that balances technique with flavor exploration, Maeve Chocolate's tour is worth it.

Very interesting and unique flavors. I went for the collaboration with Dungeon Crawler Carl, which was amazing. Not only was there a special chocolate bar that they had for the collab but they also had a corner decorated in the theme of the book and stickers of characters from the book. It was fantastic. Parking is pretty easy in this area. There is some parallel parking by the front door and a parking lot nearby. I'll definitely have to come back for a tour.

UPDATE: 3/24/26... As a Yelp Elite member for 6 years, I…read morepride myself in giving fair reviews, whether good or bad. And with the bad, I strive to be positive on the experience that was good before giving suggestions or letting the owner know what fell short. I'm never out to bash a business. Rather, as an owner, if you pride yourself in customer service, you will take what a sincere Yelp Elite reviewer has to say, step back and see how you can improve. I just read the comments another reviewer posted a few days ago and saw that they were berated as well. I had nothing to gain from giving the review I did and it's unfortunate that you're no longer going to be in business, but there were two other people with me that came to this consensus. With that, I will reply to the unfortunate remarks slammed at me, the reviewer. Let me preface by saying I asked for a pic with the owner before tea service started. If it was said that we had a wonderful and lovely time, it was not by me but one of my friends who, when asked how everything was, couldn't think of anything else to say. Also, I wasn't going to express all of this in front of the owner at the time because I had others with me. So, to rebel and ask me if my mother is still alive and did she teach me to behave like this? Well, all I can say is your reaponse as a business owner is extremely childish and unprofessional. I didn't make the food. I reviewed it and if that means it's not the best review, so be it. It pains me not to give a business owner a good review because that's not what we as Elite members strive for. That said, lashing out is not the answer. At least I have the maturity and diplomacy to put these comments in without getting into a mud fight like you chose to do. Review..... My two girlfriends and I came here for afternoon tea. Since I'm the Yelp reviewer, I asked them for their input and so it was a consensus of the three of us. Here's what went right. It was nice to have a carafe of water at our table, there were beautiful flowers and dyed water to match in the vase, the teacups and saucers were very pretty, the owner was extremely nice. Here's what we thought needed a second look. The sign in the store advertised cheese and fruit for the afternoon tea but it didn't appear. When we asked we were told it didn't come with it but we could get some if we wanted. Please revise the sign as people do notice. Suggest you have a selection of three sandwiches rather than two of each. One was a small croissant filled with egg salad and if we hadn't been told that we thought it might be chicken. The other was a cucumber sandwich which although it's nice to have thin slices of cucumber, these were razor thin. Sort of disappointing that there was so little on a beautiful piece of bread. They scones were nothing special. Perhaps have something inside whether it be cranberry, currant etc. The sweets consisted of a Mexican wedding cake which was rather dry and was there a detection of almond extract? The orange macaron, as beautiful as it was, lacked flavor of orange. I was expecting a nice burst of something but it just wasn't there. The fondant on the petit four was much too thick, and sweet. Whatever fashion the raspberry is used, keep a bit of that tart flavor to offset the sweetness from the fondant. The effort was there, things just felt short.

That said, after today's visit, I stand corrected. The exterior is run down and the lighting inside is depressing, but the place is clean, the staff is nice and the pricing is competitive. If this place had a robust meat selection, I think they could give Uwajimaya a run. I didn't find everything I was looking for, but the dry spices and vegetables were exactly what I was after. I didn't see cabbage or celery, but the selection was still more diverse than any other store I've visited. My singular knock was the two guys stocking the store. Both were kind and polite, but they also had radios blasting music. I'm sensitive to sound, so it made it hard for me to focus and I'm sure a couple items I was after I missed, because I couldn't stay in the area where they were stocking merch. Bulk spices tend to last, so it may be a minute before I find my way back here. That said, this will be my go to spice store.

Food: (4/5) I'm not the biggest fan of mac and cheese in general because it gives me flavor fatigue sooo fast, but this one was really good! I've had Beechers at the famous Pike location many years ago and don't remember it being so delicious. I have no idea what exactly my partner ordered, but it was soo creamy and just the right amount of cheesy. It was so steamy that it stayed hot for a good amount of our flight as well. This is definitely something I would like to start getting more often, especially as a comfort food before something that can be physically taxing like a long flight.

They essentially have premade sandwiches that they toast up when ordered so freshness could be questionable, but it does speed up the wait a little bit. As for the wait, it can take quite a while, but again as airport kiosks go, it seems par for the course during a rush. There's a lot of seating right across from the kiosk but it was completely full when I was there, so I went to my gate to devour my hot and greasy sandwich. If I'm ever in Sea-tac again, I think I'll get the mac and cheese instead.
