As a Dover resident I try to keep as many purchases local. That being said, I called Cocheco Print Works for an estimate to get 3 USGS maps laminated. I was told they didn't do such large pieces on premises but would sub it out. Elden whom I spoke with would call another print shop who could handle the large dimensions I needed and call me back with the estimate. Cool. Elden does in fact call me back with the price of $90 !!! I promptly told him I was not interested. So much for keeping my business local. I used another business in Portsmouth for $20 total. I don't mind if local means a little bit more but this was a complete rip-off ! read more

I, too, prefer to shop small business. I come from a "printing" family and know how to clearly place an order and a request for a quote. I went into the store with a sample and went over everything. The order was large and timely. They said it would be ready in four days. I took two weeks and was completely wrong! Then--get this--when i picked up the incorrect order (no time to do it over) and pointed this out to the owner, he just shrugged! I'll never go back. read more

As a small business owner, I love supporting other small local businesses. With that being said, I've given Cocheco Printworks a couple tries and I won't be returning, as much as I want to give them my business. Both times I used them, they printed my orders incorrectly, even though I had clearly communicated what I needed via email. The most recent and final time, I arrived to pick up an order of one 11"x14" print and spent 30 minutes in the shop waiting for it. I was then charged $15, because of a $15 minimum that I wasn't told about. I can't help but feel taken advantage of. I'm really sad to leave a negative first review, especially because everyone in the shop is friendly, but it is what it is. read more

Established in 1985.

Cocheco PrintWorks opened for business in 1985 as Dover Duplicating. Our founders, Ed and Faye Decie set up business in the mill building on Main street. They produced mountains of printed material at a time when everyone turned to the "Quick Printer" to get their copies. Ed moved the business across the street in 1996 to 442 Central Avenue and renamed it to Cocheco PrintWorks. In 1999 Cocheco PrintWorks was purchased by Jonathan West. Under Jon's leadership, Cocheco PrintWorks quickly upgraded it's technology to become a leader in providing local print services that get the job done. I was assigned a commission on Monday that was expected to be completed at the latest on Friday, but the client wanted to grab the print in hand by Wednesday to give the framer as much time as possible to frame. I made the mistake of going to a big box retailer for the last minute print, and when they brought it out... Oh, it was terrible. Oversaturated colors. The print itself was too dark. The material they called "photographic paper" was cheap and thin. It had smears and scrapes on the print surface. The black ink looked matte while on a glossy surface, and everything looked blurry. I was totally at a loss, so I paid and left, but ended up asking a client who referred me to Print NH who then took the job so close to them being closed for the day. Also, the print quality was phenomenal compared to that big box retailer -- the colors were on point, and everything was crisp. I was happy, and so was the client. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
