My first meeting with them was very educational and they took a lot more time explaining my options with me than the other two doctors I had consulted with. They were very friendly and did not try to "sell" me on any kind of procedure. After choosing to go with them I scheduled my surgery and they did the rest! The process was very smooth and they assured me every step of the way. It has now been almost a year since I had the procedure completed and my vision is better than 20/20! I cannot believe I waited so long to get the Lasik Eye Surgery completed. Laser eye surgery was something that I had always wanted to do but was too nervous to let anybody mess with them. Southwestern Eye Center has a team of Optometrists, Opthalmologists, Eye Surgeons, Nurses, Anesthesiologists, office staff, et. al. that works like a perfectly tuned machine. It is obvious they all have "seen it all" in the eye care business, yet everyone answered my questions as though I was their first ever patient. The results of the surgery after only three days are so wonderful, I am looking forward to having the surgery on my other eye as soon as possible.

Over a year ago, I had cataract surgery by them, and within a week, I was seeing double out of my left eye. This is very dangerous, as I have to close my left eye to tell whether I'm looking at one car or two. They took no responsibility for this, which obviously was caused by the operation. I went to another appointment in February 2026 and reminded Dr. Hooper that I was still seeing double. He totally ignored that and told his assistant to schedule me for a routine exam in a year. .

I was very impressed with their offices--it was clean, nicely decorated, and had plenty of room in the waiting area (in fact, the whole place is huge). Vista uses better technology than my previous eye doctor. Instead of dilating my pupils, which I hate and it just seems like an outdated practice, I paid something like $40 to use their special machine to photograph my eye. It was actually pretty cool to see pictures of my eye and I got to skip the dilation. The eye doctor I saw was probably only a few years older than me, but she was very knowledgeable and put me at ease. She let me try on different contacts so I could see which one I liked better since I was in between correction sizes. I wasn't intending to purchase contacts through Vista since I normally go through Walmart, but the price was right and they were offering a rebate. Score!

I know the definition and have never heard it used to refer to an eyeglass prescription. I was told there would be a cost of $50* to get a copy of my prescription, and it's not covered by insurance. * in addition to the office visit charge The other issue was regarding co-payment and, once again, the receptionist and the office manager insisted that I HAD to pay the co-pay. I have dual insurance coverage, which means the secondary insurance picks up the remaining balance not paid by the primary insurance. This has been the case for me for the past seven years. Both women insisted this was incorrect. I paid! Now, two weeks following this encounter, I was not surprised that the co-pay was refunded back to my account ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Who knew, hmm, guess I did! I was transitioning from metal frames, with the nose pieces that form "craters" on your nose, to smooth, lightweight plastic frames. I'm so pleased with them. I had the appointment card written by their receptionist at the time of making the appointment that said "November 27 at 9:30". I arrived early. They said they didn't have my son on the schedule and couldn't get us in. I explained that we traveled a distance for this appointment and it is a waste of time and money for their mistake.
