I normally love this place, and we've been coming here for Sunday brunch a lot lately. On our most recent visit, I ordered my usual chile relleno burrito, which my husband and I shared. Unfortunately, we both ended up with severe food poisoning afterward and are currently on day two of feeling sick. This experience was very disappointing, especially since we've always enjoyed dining here. I've been coming to Cocina Adamex for a while, but this last experience was unacceptable. I ordered the green chili plate that's supposed to come with rice and beans, and there was no rice at all. The salsa packet was shoved inside the beans, which is honestly pretty unappetizing, and the chips were completely soggy. On top of that, they didn't include the usual brown bag with fresh chips and separate salsa containers like they normally do. Everything about this order felt rushed and careless. This place used to be consistent, but lately the quality and service have clearly gone downhill. The lack of attention to even basic details really shows. I'm not sure what's changed, but it's affecting both the food and the customer experience. Definitely disappointing. read more

This place had been on my list for quite a while. There have been a lot of Instagram posts about the giant conchas that they serve there. We couldn't decide what to have for lunch and I thought it was the perfect opportunity to visit Christina Adamex. When you first walk in you face the bakery counter. Turning go down little hallway to get to the restaurant. There's a hostess desk but you order at the counter and find your own seat. The dining room is super cute.. in fact it's probably the best selling point of this place. There's a large flower tree in the middle of the room, some sombreros, some papel picado banners, and a mural of the words Christina Adamex. There's some lovely artwork on the wall as well, and out the door is an enclosed patio. In the corner was a pair of musicians - - a man on the keyboard and a woman singing. They were really, really good! We ordered the red chili plate and a single taco plate. They each came with beans and rice. As much as I wanted to love this place, I didn't quite make love level. The food was okay. Nothing to write home about but also not bad. I ordered a crunchy taco and it came in a pre-made taco shell like the Old El Paso shells you buy at Fry's. All in all it wasn't bad. But we drove a little ways to get here and I don't think we would do it again just to eat here. They do seem to be known for their coffee and pastries, and we didn't have those. read more

Me and my family have been coming here for years and something has changed in the last year, the food isn't good anymore. The last 3 times, I've ordered what I always order (chile relleno burrito) and it's been cold. The cheese isn't melted and it has tons of onion. It's a clean, cute place. This place was such a cute vibe! It was a great surprise when I walked in Sunday morning and they had live music with a singer. Family oriented business. If you're looking for fresh empanadas and fresh homemade tortillas, come to this place. I tried the apple, pineapple and dulce empanadas. Favorite was the apple, it was sprinkled with cinnamon. Absolutely Amazing Experience! From the moment you walk into Cocina Adamex, it feels like stepping into a little world of its own. The atmosphere is fantastic, with warm, welcoming employees and beautiful Mexican decor that truly sets the vibe. Plus, there's so much fun stuff to browse--adorable soaps, keychains, stylish shirts, mugs, and more! The food was delicious! We ordered the beef flautas with rice and beans, beef tacos, carne asada burrito, enchiladas, and, of course, a classic bottle of Coke. Everything was flavorful and cooked to perfection. Before leaving, we stopped at the bakery area, and despite having tree nut allergies in our group, the staff was incredibly helpful in guiding us toward safe options. We thought we would try this place out. We knew it before when it was Azteca. It's got a nice big parking lot and the remodel is very well done. Inside is cute and refreshed. We ordered online (to go) and the ordering process was pretty easy. Pick up was easy also. The portion sizes aren't as big as I would expect, and the food was ok. We had a chimichanga and some enchiladas with rice and beans. They tasted good! I wasn't impressed with the salsa we ordered with a bag of chips. It wasn't chunky but watery. Overall, I would eat there again but wasn't overly impressed. Please note we did not try any bakery items but they looked very good! The price for everything was affordable. read more

I was in the mood for some Mexican pastries so I came here. This place is primarily a Mexican restaurant with a small bakery inside. I am reviewing only the bakery since I purchased just pastries. There are 2 parking lots, one parking lot on each side of the restaurant. I'm guessing maybe spaces for 100 cars total so it's pretty ample. There are trays of Mexican pastries inside a closed display area. You can either use the provided tongs or use the provided disposable plastic gloves to get what you want inside the bakery display. You get a tray and put whatever you'd like on the tray before heading to the cashier to ring you up. Some of the pastries has labels missing but most of them are labeled. I ordered the churros, it was more chewy than crunchy but nonetheless it was delicious. I also ordered the pumpkin empanada which is a pastry with pumpkin pie filling, this was flaky and chewy, great taste. I also ordered some kind of flat crunchy cinnamon sugar pastry. Not sure what this is called but it was the best thing I ordered. Also ordered an Apple soda which was awesome. The ambience here is very laid back, tables and chairs that are traditional Mexican restaurant looking. I'm sure it's great to bring the kids along. Very nice and relaxing atmosphere. Next time I come here I will be sure to try something on the food menu and post another review on that. If you are into Mexican pastries like I am than you should come check this place out. This morning's visit to Cocina Adamex was a huge disappointment and has changed my mind about never visiting again. My friend and I love the Cafe de Olla. I arrived before her and ordered our coffee to have it ready when she arrived. I was very disappointed in the amount of time it took to get our coffee to our table. Guests who arrived after me were served, and guests after them were served. After more than 20 minutes, our coffee finally made it to our table. The coffee cup I was given had a chip, and the server was very dismissive when we made a small comment about the length of time we waited. My friend and I won't be visiting this establishment anymore as the customer service has declined significantly. read more

I enjoyed this place so much! From the time I walked in to hearing the live music, to receiving my XL extremely fresh Concha, to the friendly staff, and awesome atmosphere. We went in around noon on Saturday so thankfully the wait wasn't that long. To the people in a rush to eat....this place just isn't for you! They have limited seating and it's a place to slow down and enjoy your meal! If you're a person who loves conchas, hot chocolate, or coffee then you're going to be in heaven! You must pre-order your concha the day before you go if you want the XL one. They are about $20 and the giant coffee and hot chocolate are $25. Take your kids, family, or friends to catch up and enjoy them! They not only serve lunch but they have breakfast as well. We are the chilaquiles but next time I will be trying the concha French toast. I was bummed they were out of tamales and chile relleno's as I was told they are amazing. Amazing food for breakfast or lunch. The restaurant has a bakery on one side with so many great-looking pastries. There is also a little store in the hallway between the restaurant and the bakery selling little treats and fun collectibles. One of the coolest things on the menu is a coffee cup big enough for 5+ people to drink. The coffee comes in a comically large cup you can buy in the store! The environment here is very warm and inviting with bright colors under an exposed wood ceiling. We went on a Saturday morning and there was a band playing music inside! The busy environment and music made for a very fun morning. You need to order at the front before finding a seat. This space was a little crowded as there wasn't much room between the tables and counter. The restaurant has a parking lot on the south side with ample space for people arriving by car. There are plenty of tables inside and in the outside covered space. The staff was very kind cleaning off tables and making sure everything was great. read more

Just south of the Roosevelt historical district lies Adamex bakery. We had seen it on the social channels and it lived up to the hype. The Mexican pastries bakery is at the entry showing traditional bakeries. Conchas are the classics but there are many more. We enjoyed the 2-tacos with beef plate and the green chile pork plate. We took home a dozen flour tortillas and a six-pack of pastries. The dining room was clean and bright. Music was playing and that would be my only complaint as it was a bit loud. Service was fast. Price was good for the portions. Food was hot. Dessert and pastries (pan dulce) was great. Come for the bakery/pastries and stay for the reasonable food. read more

Absolutely loved this lil place! We were driving by to pick up my nephew and on the way back. We stopped so glad we did. The food was yummy. It was easy, convenient and so cute! They had a couple singing with live music and actually they were also very friendly and fast! My only regret was not going earlier to get bread as you walk in. They are making fresh bread then they have merchandise to buy and then there's the restaurant where you can order and sit down. We ordered Huevos rancheros, my husband asked for flour tortilla. They gave him a huge homemade tortilla. It was so good!! The concha French toast was perfect. They give you a side of maple syrup, but you really don't need it, the bread is so soft, and the taste is unique and they also have a variety of coffees and Aguas frescas; I ordered a watermelon agua Fresca, very refreshing! It is a local favorite, locally owned.and for sure publicity stops have been made as of recently. Visiting celebs love to stop but by I am baffled by all the five star reviews. It was not bad at all but not 5 stars either.Maybe I ordered the wrong dish or they were having a bad day. I did go later at night so maybe that could have been an issue. i will go back and try them for lunch . Cute decorations. Soda fountains instead of cans would be great. To me It is just a regular Mexican food place out of hundreds in the valley so again not sure about the five stars. it does not really stand out to me as better than say: Gallo Blanco, Barrio Cafe, or Bacanorra. I had seen a video of a place in San Jose, California with these XL Conchas. Then months later I saw Phoenix had a place with XL Conchas. I knew I'd be in Phoenix before San Jose and today was the day! I love Pan Dulce BUT Conchas are not my favorite. In fact, I never buy them for me unless they are the only option. My daughter is my Conchas lover. This Concha was so DELICIOUS!!! Normally, Conchas are too dry for me except the sugar topping. This Concha was incredibly moist and so flavorful. I just can't!!! Even my husband who doesn't care for Pan Dulce at all, loved it! He couldn't stop about how good it was. Then...the breakfast we had. We have never been able to order what Old Town Mexican Cafe in San Diego calls The Gringo Special at any other Mexican restaurant but they do that here! Two eggs, bacon, papas, frijoles, and FRESH MADE TORTILLAS! Can you tell I'm excited!!! Everything was so good! Worth the 30 minute drive from Surprise. The review was only a 4.2 but it was definitely higher than that for us. Finally a Mexican food place we loved in Phoenix. I visited here a few years ago, and the food was hit or miss. I decided to give it another shot, especially since they started offering extra-large conchas and large coffees. Unfortunately, the Menudo didn't taste fresh, and the tacos weren't any better--honestly, Taco Bell has better taco shells. I tried to make do with the sweet breads and coffee, but I won't be coming back. The attitude of one of the women taking orders--especially the one with braces--was unbearable. She was incredibly rude, and it didn't help that her speech was hard to understand. She clearly took offense when I asked her to repeat herself. I can't believe they still have her working there; she's not only rude but also very opinionated and unpleasant. This place is way overrated. They need to serve real Mexican food and have better service. read more

From a recommendation we were expecting so much however we're let down. Went late morning and ordered two scrambles, mine was the machaca. Both were warm at best and I swear mine had a cold spot in it. The tortillas came wrapped in foil and were stuck together ripping when you tried to separate them. Love Cocina Adamex (formerly known as Azteca). The food is awesome and the service is always top notch, and I've found the restaurant to always be super clean which is a must. It's very cute, not the hugest establishment but decent size and great for a quick lunch. The bakery is always on point and I'm obsessed with all of it, I have a sweet tooth if you couldn't tell! You can grab items self service style and bring them to the register when you order food which is a nice perk. Awesome place! I enjoyed all of my savory and sweet items minus the red beef tamale, this was my first time getting it and the masa was very burnt and dry and the insides weren't bad but not great. Where to even begin.... This place is a hot mess. Looks like most of their budget went into the decorations/aesthetic. The food is BASIC, I would rate it a step below Filiberto's. You sit yourself and go up to the register and order when you're ready, which is fine. Also they don't have a drink menu anywhere so you have to ask what their drink options are. Oh and you can't order a single cup of coffee you have to buy the big Jarron of coffee which is $15. I'm pretty sure people only go there because of the huge Concha with chocolate, to take pictures for Instagram. The horchata was gross, it tasted like milk with sugar. They also only have ONE salsa option which tasted like tomato mostly and it wasn't spicy at all. The customer service was poor. We had a horrible experience all around and I also found a hair in my rice. I don't understand why people continue going here. read more

I tried this place for a third-time. I really wanted chicken tacos & in my head, I pictured crispy taco shell, shredded chicken, cheese, & goodness. I was underwhelmed by the chicken tacos. The shell, was crispy, but sadly reminded me of a Taco Bell shell or something from a grocery store. The shredded chicken was cooked through but didn't have the seasoning it so desperately needed. Chorizo. I was really looking forward to this but again, underwhelmed. Wasn't seasoned as well as it could have been. Much like my first visit, I placed the order to go to eat at my office which is less than 10 mins away. And it was lukewarm by the time I arrived. I honestly do not understand. But the best part of the experience was the service, we were greeted upon coming in through the side and checked in often by ALEXIS! Fun concept to enjoy an extra sized concha, we grabbed some coffee too. Four of us had 3/4 of the concha and had enough for probably 8 more people! Definitely a fun concept. Coffee was basic and they were out and too busy to fill it up so it took a while to get our coffee and refills at the end of our meal. I guess I was expecting them to have Mexican Coffee to go with the concha's so I was a little disappointed. They have a little mini shop with cute Hispanic themed boutique gifts. First time here and was really impressed with the quality of food served there. Great tasting Mexican cuisine and a very reasonable time between ordering and serving. Service was excellent despite how busy it was. And love the range of seating in the restaurant, from tall table with chairs to normal seating arrangements. And an out door covered aérea to sit and eat. In all loved the experience and would definitely go there again. 5 stars from me. read more
