We were referred to this place and honestly almost didn't go in at first-- from the outside, it looks more like a bar than a restaurant. But once we stepped inside, we were pleasantly surprised. It's actually a cute, country-style diner with cozy booths and charming wagon wheel decor that gives it a warm, welcoming vibe. We were immediately greeted by a lovely hostess who also ended up being our waitress. She was friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu, which made the experience even better. We ordered the blueberry pancakes and the eggs Benedict, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly, and you can tell they really care about the quality of their food. After all these years! We retired at least a decade ago and this was one of our breakfast stops on our way to work. Amazingly, its still a pretty darn good place for breakfast. Today's breakfast was a Sausage Scramble covered in a creamy country gravy that was oh, so good. Can't complain about the generous portion of great tasting sausage in my scramble. Better yet, there was plenty more to bring home. I could not love the biscuits however. These are not house made, a restaurant supplier failure, IMO. So what is so hard about making a real, flaky biscuit? Glad about the gravy, however. Portuguese Sausage and Eggs. The 1 1/2 sausages were plenty big and were cooked perfectly. Too bad they didn't taste as garlicky and spicy as we remembered. Different brand, I think. So, where can we find a great, spicy Portuguese sausage, I wonder? I love the old style lounge ambiance. They might have reupholstered since last time but they kept the oldies but goodies Lounge "look" I remember. Very nostalgic. And the service was just as outstanding as it always was. Sadly, it's not as convenient for us to visit here as it was 15 years ago. That's only because, after we retired, there was little reason to drive this far. THIS place has all the ear marks of the best karaoke dive bars! We were greeted warmly when we walked through the door and the place was already humming with happy energy. Cheerfully conversing diners in booths and folks bellied up to the bar filled up the cozy space. Homey country style decorative touches, strings of white lights, leathery booths, and wood panels create a warm and rustic atmosphere. We came at the tail end of dinner and sadly, we missed the prime rib as they were sold out (get here early for prime rib & close to the action booth seating!). This is a what-you-came-for generous pour over ice with your choice of mixer, and they'll just keep coming until you say otherwise. My go to meal is the prime rib, end cut with baked potato, veggies and caldo de verde soup. As always the food is excellent and the service is better all the time. I knew I was in the right place so I asked for directions and they led me to the Restaurant. When I got there, which was only a few feet away I walked in the cozy dining area. A visit that took decades. So back story my parents moved to the area in the 1960sand herd of a place in chino with amazing chicken. They decided to give it a try the line was long eventually they went elsewhere. Well Mom got to go all be it a different menu today. She had the fried shrimp and minestrone soup. I had the Ortega sandwich as it was lunch. The shrimp were beer battered and large with good flavor . Her soup looked homemade and was a large portion of. She opted for onion rings as her side. The sandwich fad a generous portion of roast beef Ortega chili and cheese. This a a bar & restaurant so it was loud. The bar is dark with stone on one wall that has various liquor bottles imbedded in it. Service was friendly the prices are reasonable , parking is in a lot behind the bar. I would go again . We ate in the bar area hoping to take advantage of happy hour specials. Potato skins should be a staple in a bar and grill.. they aren't good. Service was so so like, we got the drinks quick and the food didn't take long to come either but all Of a sudden, in DECEMBER the AC came on and was blowing straight at us! Really cold. We even waited a few minutes to see if it would cut off. It didn't so.., We left without packing up the nachos. They weren't good either. What a disappointment.
