Definitely fancier than what we're used to. Think like a nice wedding but the food was actually good. I had the stew with mash and my husband had steak medallions with truffle fries. His steaks were perfectly tender. My stew was very flavorful and hearty. The brown, butter mashed potatoes were so good. We had a lemon, coconut cheesecake to finish that didn't disappoint. Shout out to our server, Emily, who was super friendly and helpful with their menu. We advised that we were mildly in a rush and she took care of us. They started us off with an amuse (Italian meats on crostinis). They were yummy! We ordered the Brussel sprouts for app and the Australian wagyu with truffle fries for dinner. Wow! I did the 10 oz filet with fries and my husband did the wagyu with the truffle fries. I've honestly never had fries with my steak and wasn't sure what to expect but it was a really good pairing. We each added asparagus for a vegetable side. For appetizers we did the loaf of bread and the beef tartar. The loaf of bread was warm and had really good fluffy butter. The beef tartar was also excellent. The Gigi's cocktail and old fashioned were very yummy. We had two New York cheesecakes for dinner and they tasted very very good. Wifey wanted to come here last minute so we gave it a shot. The service was good and the ambiance was great. It was in a weird part of Chino, a cute little area, I'm not sure what to call it. It was a bit overpriced, but the food was pretty good. We had a root beer and a wine. We ordered Steak Frites and Boeuf Bourguignon- a beef stew type item with mashed potatoes. A lot of meat and gravy, but could have been some more mashed potatoes. The food was cooked well with good seasonings. Most people sat outside on the patio area not inside. Miguel was good and attentive. The only thing was that when the electronic payment system came it had the tip at 20%. I thought I choose the tip amount based on service and food quality. Love the cozy atmosphere and delicious drink & food choices not to mention their friendly staff and servers. I had the Australian 12oz Wagyu Ribeye which was tender and delicious and my wife had their Camping Trip which is a nice Salmon served on top of a hot stone. Truly delicious! This is one of romantic fine dining located in downtown Chino. We were here just because we wish to eat great beef. So my husband ordered Australian Wagyu and I ordered Short Rib over Pasta. First off the Wagyu was so 'stingy' considered it worth of $75, it's only the super tender meat and 3 pieces of potato, could be more generous with some veggie for that price. While the Beef Short Rib Pasta was tender however the sauce was too sour to my opinion. Overall service was great and sweet. We were taken care of well. Always a wonderful time at Owen's. Due to their hours being mostly end of week/weekend, we try to attend their specialty events on Sundays or Tuesday. Check their social media to stay updated. We attended an Italian wine and cheese tasting, with a prefix dinner after. We also attended a Julia child birthday dinner. If you're adventurous, try and event. You don't know what you're eating beforehand, but we have NEVER been disappointed. I've loved the outdoor eating area since the first day we dined there years ago. Very crispy with great flavor served with lemon and mayo. Then we had our salads. Cesar Salad and Green Goddess Salad. Really good and flavorful salad dressings with fresh crisp vegetables. For our entrees we had the Lobster Tail and the Flat Iron Steak. The Lobster Tail was served with clarified butter, lemon, on a bed of pasta. The Flat Iron Steak was juicy and rare with crispy and seasoned French fries along with a sauce. Service was great. I had heard great things about this restaurant in Chino from friends and Yelp reviews, so my expectations were high. My girlfriend and I had been looking forward to dining here for a while, and we decided to celebrate our 3 year anniversary here this past Wednesday night. The night started off on a positive note: the restaurant had a cozy ambiance with pleasant music, and the staff left a personalized anniversary card with heart confetti on our table -- a thoughtful touch I appreciated since I had mentioned our celebration in the reservation. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. Our server, Jordan, was friendly but clearly inexperienced. He struggled with multitasking and took longer than expected to take our order using the tablet. Both my girlfriend and I have past experiences in the restaurant industry as servers, so we know this wasn't due to a busy night -- the place was relatively slow. Jordan also didn't seem knowledgeable about the menu or ingredients, and he kept running back and forth to the kitchen for basic questions. He recommended the swordfish with eggplant as the special of the night, which my girlfriend ordered, and I got the Wagyu Ribeye. I asked for grilled onions on the side -- a pretty standard topping request at most gourmet bistros -- but was told they weren't available. Odd, but I let it go. Thankfully, my steak came out perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. The real issue came with the swordfish with eggplant dish. Right away, my girlfriend commented that it was dry and completely bland. I tasted it myself and agreed -- it was far from the standard you'd expect, especially for a nightly special. We flagged it to Jordan, who didn't show much empathy or concern. He simply said he'd take it back. We requested the salmon instead. To make matters worse, it took over 25 minutes for the replacement dish to arrive. By then, my ribeye was cold since I had waited to eat with my girlfriend. Again, Jordan didn't acknowledge the delay or offer to accommodate us in any meaningful way. He lacked the attentiveness and awareness expected at a higher-end restaurant, and it really put a damper on what was supposed to be a special night. When the bill came, the swordfish dish (which we didn't eat) was removed -- which is fair -- but no other accommodation was offered for the overall inconvenience. We had to ask if anything else could be done. Jordan went to speak with a manager and returned offering either 10% off the replacement dish or removing a glass of basic champagne from the bill. He laughed while presenting the options, which came across as unprofessional and dismissive given the situation. In the end, while I appreciated the personalized card and initial gesture, the poor service, disappointing food quality (especially the special), and lack of accountability really soured the experience. This place might be great on other nights, and I understand not every experience is perfect -- but I felt it was important to share our honest experience so others celebrating something meaningful aren't left feeling like we did. read more

Just underwhelming overall I came to Owen Bistro for my birthday and honestly left pretty disappointed. The food itself was just... okay. Nothing really stood out except, strangely enough, the salty butter that came with the bread (that was actually excellent). Everything else was pretty bland and average, and clearly catered to a very mild palate. The "off the menu Chocolate Cake" was, unfortunately, the worst cake I've ever had. It was so dense my fork could barely get through it, bitter, and just not enjoyable. And that's coming from someone who cooks and bakes. Zero out of ten on that one. I barely touched it and it was also my birthday which our waiter knew so honestly, I was expecting him to at least give us a percentage off of the cake since it was almost untouched and I let him know how unhappy I was with it, but he just really kind of seemed dismissive. Service also missed the mark. The waiter opened by telling us how tired he was, which is just not something you say to guests right as they sit down. Later, we waited about 15 minutes just to get a dessert menu, only for him to come back and say he had already put in our dessert orders... which we never actually made because he never brought the menu we asked for. The restaurant itself isn't particularly aesthetic, so you can't even get nice photos to make up for the mediocre experience. Overall, it was fine at best, but definitely not somewhere I'd return to. read more

I initially came to give 3 stars, because I enjoyed the patio ambiance and live music. However, the bathrooms here have no soap. For being the only restroom in the building and no soap is disgusting. That means that STAFF DOES NOT WASH HANDS, super gross. Really makes you question If they are properly handling our food In the back of the house. We spent about two hours there. I let staff know when I first got there, that there is no soap. Then at the end of the night, I went back and still no soap. They told me to go to the men's restroom- which by the way had an extremely strong urine smell. All of this really does note exude a fine dining experience and leaves a lot to be desired from Owen's Bistro. Topping that off with a hidden 20% service charge which is not clearly stated on the bill, which means customers are double tipping. We left 20% on top of 20%, I felt like the bill was really high for what we got. How are we suppose to know when they are not forthcoming. Super shady and really really bad business! read more

BEWARE booking Owen's for a private party, the owners are extremely rude. The food was not up to par, they would not allow me or my guest to enter the bar area to get drinks, they were rude when approached for drinks, napkins, anything you would need. My guests were left without drinks for 30+ minutes. The entire party felt uncomfortable every time someone would need to use the restroom. The event was beautiful not because of the owners but because of the vendors and myself that set everything up, and then the owner Denise posts a picture on social media of the event acting like she set it up, when actually sat there giving us dirty looks and watching us like we were children. She ruined everything and did nothing to contribute to what a beautiful event it could have been. They wouldn't let us pick a meat, chicken or steak, said it's too expensive when I would be the one paying for it not them. After speaking with many of my guests I decided this needed to be known to whoever may be considering booking a party here. We are an easy going group and they didn't appreciate us as guests in their restaurant. I would give 0 stars if I could. read more

Wow. How do you have salty food that everyone in your party agrees is too salty and then get gaslit and told "it's the same as the other batches the chef made"? I don't understand how, collectively, the staff could botch the service AND the food so bad. Our reservation was for 7 and we weren't seated until 7:20. Hostess wouldn't make eye contact and extend a warm welcome. Our server, Jordan also struggled with eye contact. When we told him our dishes were salty he didn't particularly seem to care. We ordered the Brussels sprouts salad and the jumbo shrimp and both were excessively salty. Food took too long and prices were way too high for what the food was. Uno tre Otto in Claremont is way better. The restaurant looks pleasant but isn't enough to justify a 58 dollar lobster tail. read more
