    Michelada & pastor tacos
    Rosa M.

I take my micheladas very seriously. I was so pleased when this one was perfect!! The food and drinks were amazing also! . So flavorful and delicious. Service was 10/10 also. Definitely coming back . Ambiance was very inviting and relaxing , perfect for small or large groups.

My first round of tacos al pastor and fish tacos with a lemon drop.

This was my first time here. I wanted to try their happy hour since I see their sign on my way home. I'm excited to have this place near me. I had their fish tacos and tacos Al pastor with a lemon drop, thank you very much. The tortilla was handmade, and it had the right thickness. The meat was quality and charred just right--perfectly actually. The fish tacos were good, but those al pastor tacos were the show. Finally, Jackie, the bartender, knows what she is doing. The lemon drop was delicious and not your typical watered down sugar drink--it was well balanced and had me in ratatouille mode enjoying my food with the perfect drink to accentuate my meal. I will definitely be coming back to try more--I'm so excited to see they do their chiles rellenos with queso fresco, finally I see a local Mexican restaurant do things right.

I hope you know, I hope you know That this has nothing to do with you Flautas Plate (no guac) from #AlvaradosMexicanGrill

I love flautas. There--I said it. But what I like even more is when flautas are on the inexpensive side like they were when I was growing up and used to get them through the drive-thru of the local burger and Mexican food drive-thru near DeAnn's hometown. Back then it was about $8 for four absolutely delicious flautas and rice & beans with a drink. While I'll never get that price again, it's nice to know places like Alvarado's are doing $13 Flautas and not the usual $20 price point. And these flautas are damn good. They're maybe not gourmet or primed to win any awards, but they satisfy and they make me crave just one or two more. And that's all you really want from a flauta, to fill you up and leave you thinking you could suck down a few more. I will say I wasn't impressed by the rice, pea-filled and uninspiring, but the beans more than made up for them. I was even assured by the maybe manager that I could even order double beans next time, making this a no-excuses meal to order repeatedly in the future. The service was great. They were fast and efficient, getting my order out to me in about 5-8 minutes. They asked up and down a few times if everything was good to me and the other customers. Even the location and energy of the place. I've never seen a nicer fast casual place next to a gas station. If all Circle K's had this level of dining next to them I'd be a bigger fan of theirs. The dining room was super spacious and clean. All the paraphernalia like drink station, salsa station, and counters were laid out nicely. And I even liked the setup of the tables, with plenty of two and four tops to go around. I think this place is amazing and I know where my new flauta source will be from now on.

I LOVE this place!! Such good quality food, clean restaurant, super friendly staff AND a full bar? What more could you ask for?! I've turned my family and coworkers on to this place and everyone loves it. Go check them out!

The best salsa verde I had!! (Better than moms)

Ambience is 10/10: super clean, and we were greeted at the entrance by Andrew. He took our order and was really nice and patient, explaining all the menu options to us. There's music playing in the background, not too loud which is awesome, and they have sports playing and a cute little bar area. My husband and I got the pepino water, it was so good, and they offer unlimited refills on waters. I ordered the taquitos and omggggggg soooo delicious, super authentic. The salsa verde is not spicy at all, and it goes perfect with the tacos and burrito. My husband got the street burrito, also delicious and very authentic. I don't know where this restaurant originated, but it has that Tijuana taco taste... if you know, you know! Totally recommend and definitely coming back.

$20 (after tax) shrimp cocktail. Unopened and left well short of being filled. Such a disappointment in portion & flavor.

TAKE OUT (1/09/2026) I was at Walmart getting an oil change and could not help but notice the amazing smell in the air. After dropping my car off, I asked the tech if he knew where the smell was coming from. He said it was from Alvarado! I was with my dog so I had to order outside and wait but the service was still really good. Kudos to them. I was craving seafood, and opted for the shrimp cocktail. The cocktail is just shy of 20 bucks after tax, and chips and salsa were not complementary, $5 more bucks. I had high hopes for the food, particularly my shrimp cocktail but when I got home and opened the bag, I seen how much they left from filling the container. It was short of being full. Nearly 2 inches from the lid, I mean come on now. Fill it to the top, it won't bankrupt yall I promise. The inside was not much better. Very bland and unsubstantial. Avocado inside were very large and nearly whole, wouldn't hurt to give them a cut. Outside of that, there was shrimp inside and not much else expect the juice. Huge disappoint and I do not recommended this cocktail. As mentioned, the salsa and chips were not complimentary, & was charged an additional $5 dollars. Unfortunately the salsa was very runny, and lacked a robust flavor profile. 2/5 for this place.

I…read moreremember I asked a contractor doing work on the building what they were making it, and he said "A pizza place" what an understatement. The weather was lovely so we sat on the big patio, which is elevated and shaded from the sun in the evening hours. The waitress was absolutely lovely. They don't have any beer on tap, which I hope will change soon. So my friend ordered the chicken piccata with extra capers and I ordered the salmon piccata. Our meal took a long time. Maybe 30 minutes, but we were chatting and happy to wait so it was no big deal. Both our waitress and what I assumed was the manager came out to apologize, assure us our food was coming and ask us if we needed anything, which was much appreciated. One gripe was that I guess the waitress told my friend that our meal would come with two pieces of bread when it came with one, and we really think they should be serving bread before the meal, especially with how long the meal took. But I had to give the full 5s because the food was spectacular. Both my friend and I basically licked our plates. The meat had just the perfect amount of sear without being overcooked. She was very happy with her extra capers and my salmon was exquisite. That coupled with the immaculate vibes, the gorgeous building and the friendly service, I will not hesitate to go there again! I am a pomona native and resident and I have so much respect and pride for my city. The fact that they restored this beautiful old building and are serving amazing food, 10/10 no notes... except maybe serve bread

Also, the brunch is buffet style which I do not eat, but they could have had two areas with the food! The lines were long and ran out of food many times, and they did not have any condiments for you. The best thing was the music, the Dj did his thing with and I was able to dance the whole time and had a wonderful time! The food was decent but it could be better. Since they are new with brunch I'll let them slide. However, I think they should have a omelette bar to have more options and better menu. The price of the brunch is reasonable for food and bottomless mimosas only $50.00 , but should be better with organization for a day brunch party. I'm sure the dinner on regular hours is pretty good tho! It's a very fun time here! And I do recommend for a live fun setting and to dance. The food and organization on waiting in a long line just needs to get better. -Marshay D.

Walking through the 80s bar it gives off very clubby and busy vibes so it was hard to imagine a speakeasy at the end of it. I was actually shocked upon entrance and really impressed with the detail and ambiance. It is a small space and keep in mind you may share a table with another group if necessary. The drinks were actually phenomenal. On the pricier end of $22 and up but we're so good. I loved the horror theme play on the cocktail names! The candy man was delicious and my favorite. The Lester drink came in a light bulb with an edible flower and that was definitely an experience! My hubby loved the Samara which was a delicious espresso. I wish I could have tried more cocktails but our timed seating was up (90minutes). Overall, I was a bit worried with all the poor reviews but we had a good time and definitely got you into the spooky season spirit! The staff was also very kind. I do wish they had more horror actors but still a good time. The bottomless mimosas ($29.99) sound like a great deal, but just know how they run it. There's a 90-minute minimum, and they don't bring a bottle to the table--you get one mimosa at a time, and you have to finish it before they'll bring another. The first one I got tasted like straight orange juice barely any champagne. I sent it back and to their credit, they remade it much better They mentioned they control pours to keep the environment in check, which I understand--but if you're expecting free-pour vibes, that's not the case here. Food-wise: French toast & breakfast potatoes were really good However the Chilaquiles were super dry and lacked flavor--wouldn't recommend Burger & fries were decent, but nothing special As for drink pricing, it does lean a bit on the higher side. bucket of 5 beers was around $42, $15 for a Tito's vodka shot, and even a basic Jack and Coke came out to about $18 with tip, which felt a little steep for the area. the best deal was definitely the green tea shots at only $9 I will say, our waitress Priscilla was great. She had a lot of tables and seemed a bit overwhelmed, but she still made an effort to check on us and kept my mimosas coming pretty promptly. I didn't have to wait long at all between refills, which I appreciated. Since we went for a special event, the DJs were great and really kept the energy up the whole time Parking was easy. It did say there was a $2 fee, but when we printed the ticket, we weren't charged--so it might be free, but I'd still double-check at the kiosk just in case. Overall: decent spot for the vibe, music, and brunch outing, but just be prepared for controlled drinks and slightly higher prices.

Parking is abundant and can be a bit pricey if you want to park in the closest lot between the Fox and the bank. I paid $25 because I was feeling a bit lazy. After walking up 4-5 flights of stairs (there is an elevator available) you'll find yourself in a nicely decorated room with wooden floors, couches along the wall and colorful lighting. Got that old tyme speakeasy vibe (but no piano music.) The bar is near where you enter. There were a few hiccups in the sound, probably because this place doesn't seem to have live music that often. Or it was on the musicians themselves (there were 11 bands that played, mostly way younger than I). But overall the sound was pretty good. I always have earplugs in but if I forgot them at home I wouldn't have lost much sleep. I didn't drink anything alcoholic but the bartenders were keeping the water cups going. That was very appreciated because with the amount of people moving it got warm on occasion. They also have a smaller balcony with a nice view of Garey and other parts of downtown Pomona. Would I come back for the nightclub? No. I'm too old for that lol. But another live show? Sure why not. You can never be too old for live music.

Then we were told that the chilaquiles and taco station was now open.. so we headed down to it. There was no one to great us at the station. We stood around for around 10 minutes and no one showed up. So at that moment I grabbed a bowel of menudo. Lucky me!! I also grabbed a long hair in my menudo.. my sister in law thought it was a piece of onion but it was not! It was a very long strand of hair. At that point we all tried our best to make the best of it and enjoy the mariachi and mimosas. Then when I returned to the taco/chilaquile station the lady was very rude!! She bluntly asked what we wanted instead of telling us our options.. and I said I'll have 2 chorizo tacos please.. she said where's your plate?? I wasn't aware that I had to give her a plate to serve me. It was an overall horrible experience. Especially because we were literally the only party in the entire place besides the mariachi. The mariachi and our server were the only pleasant people that morning. I will never be returning.
