My first round of tacos al pastor and fish tacos with a lemon drop.
    Nazareth G.

This was my first time here. I wanted to try their happy hour since I see their sign on my way home. I'm excited to have this place near me. I had their fish tacos and tacos Al pastor with a lemon drop, thank you very much. The tortilla was handmade, and it had the right thickness. The meat was quality and charred just right--perfectly actually. The fish tacos were good, but those al pastor tacos were the show. Finally, Jackie, the bartender, knows what she is doing. The lemon drop was delicious and not your typical watered down sugar drink--it was well balanced and had me in ratatouille mode enjoying my food with the perfect drink to accentuate my meal. I will definitely be coming back to try more--I'm so excited to see they do their chiles rellenos with queso fresco, finally I see a local Mexican restaurant do things right.

I hope you know, I hope you know That this has nothing to do with you Flautas Plate (no guac) from #AlvaradosMexicanGrill
    Mojo S.

I love flautas. There--I said it. But what I like even more is when flautas are on the inexpensive side like they were when I was growing up and used to get them through the drive-thru of the local burger and Mexican food drive-thru near DeAnn's hometown. Back then it was about $8 for four absolutely delicious flautas and rice & beans with a drink. While I'll never get that price again, it's nice to know places like Alvarado's are doing $13 Flautas and not the usual $20 price point. And these flautas are damn good. They're maybe not gourmet or primed to win any awards, but they satisfy and they make me crave just one or two more. And that's all you really want from a flauta, to fill you up and leave you thinking you could suck down a few more. I will say I wasn't impressed by the rice, pea-filled and uninspiring, but the beans more than made up for them. I was even assured by the maybe manager that I could even order double beans next time, making this a no-excuses meal to order repeatedly in the future. The service was great. They were fast and efficient, getting my order out to me in about 5-8 minutes. They asked up and down a few times if everything was good to me and the other customers. Even the location and energy of the place. I've never seen a nicer fast casual place next to a gas station. If all Circle K's had this level of dining next to them I'd be a bigger fan of theirs. The dining room was super spacious and clean. All the paraphernalia like drink station, salsa station, and counters were laid out nicely. And I even liked the setup of the tables, with plenty of two and four tops to go around. I think this place is amazing and I know where my new flauta source will be from now on.

I LOVE this place!! Such good quality food, clean restaurant, super friendly staff AND a full bar? What more could you ask for?! I've turned my family and coworkers on to this place and everyone loves it. Go check them out!

The best salsa verde I had!! (Better than moms)

Ambience is 10/10: super clean, and we were greeted at the entrance by Andrew. He took our order and was really nice and patient, explaining all the menu options to us. There's music playing in the background, not too loud which is awesome, and they have sports playing and a cute little bar area. My husband and I got the pepino water, it was so good, and they offer unlimited refills on waters. I ordered the taquitos and omggggggg soooo delicious, super authentic. The salsa verde is not spicy at all, and it goes perfect with the tacos and burrito. My husband got the street burrito, also delicious and very authentic. I don't know where this restaurant originated, but it has that Tijuana taco taste... if you know, you know! Totally recommend and definitely coming back.

$20 (after tax) shrimp cocktail. Unopened and left well short of being filled. Such a disappointment in portion & flavor.

TAKE OUT (1/09/2026) I was at Walmart getting an oil change and could not help but notice the amazing smell in the air. After dropping my car off, I asked the tech if he knew where the smell was coming from. He said it was from Alvarado! I was with my dog so I had to order outside and wait but the service was still really good. Kudos to them. I was craving seafood, and opted for the shrimp cocktail. The cocktail is just shy of 20 bucks after tax, and chips and salsa were not complementary, $5 more bucks. I had high hopes for the food, particularly my shrimp cocktail but when I got home and opened the bag, I seen how much they left from filling the container. It was short of being full. Nearly 2 inches from the lid, I mean come on now. Fill it to the top, it won't bankrupt yall I promise. The inside was not much better. Very bland and unsubstantial. Avocado inside were very large and nearly whole, wouldn't hurt to give them a cut. Outside of that, there was shrimp inside and not much else expect the juice. Huge disappoint and I do not recommended this cocktail. As mentioned, the salsa and chips were not complimentary, & was charged an additional $5 dollars. Unfortunately the salsa was very runny, and lacked a robust flavor profile. 2/5 for this place.

This is a new location in the area. It just opened up recently. I ordered take out and was happy with the food. I had the Alvarado burrito, chicken burrito and a Al Pastor taco. They were all delicious. Service staff were friendly and efficient. One side of the restaurant has a bar and the other side is the dining room. I heard that they have Taco Tuesday specials and also Happy Hour in the afternoon. I will be back to try other items.

They failed to give me my guac on the side. I do t know why They always leave off something....its not as if they're busy:...IJS THE business is clean, prices are a bit inflated. I mean Taco Tuesday is to be a discounted TACO day, not $3 tacos & if u get asada it's xtra (& a bit leathery)/tough). Further, they're street/small tacos .

First time customers after driving by having no idea this place even existed. We went home, looked up the menu and were intrigued. Hubby went back the next day and got a drink, the Cali burrito, Alvarado burrito, bean and cheese burrito and a shrimp taco! We were impressed! The meat was not greasy or fatty at all and super fresh. The Cali burrito our son ate so fast, we didn't even get a pic. The bean and cheese burrito was delish! Always nice to have authentic tasting beans. Aguas! The pineapple and cucumber was so refreshing! Some aguas tend to be too sweet! This one was not. (Side note: If you get a large and dine in, you get free refills. And the shrimp taco!! Homemade tortilla, the house sauce and the mushrooms! It was perfect. Go for yourself! You won't be disappointed. Next time, we will dine in rather than pick up to enjoy the ambiance. One thing I would say is if you are expecting a massive burrito, ours were not very big. HOWEVER, we appreciate quality of quantity and the quality was superb. Wishing all the luck to this business.

We get wristbands and assigned a table. We were told to wait in another line but we were let in shortly after. We bypass the 80's bar and go to a back room to make it feel like a "speakeasy." They gave us some ground rules and led us to our tables. At the table you have a QR code where you can place drink orders. The bar brings out your drinks to the table. Service was fairly quick and friendly. The drinks were all sweet cocktails and in the "Matterhorn Lodge" theme. There is a 2 drink minimum purchase (per guest) and each drink is $20+ so it can add up. I'm more of a beer person but some of the drinks were delicious. There was one that tasted like Christmas morning (cinnamon, clove, milky) and another drink that had popping boba that was also fun. If you're a butterfinger or peanut butter fan, there was one drink that tasted like it (you'll see it on the drink menu). I wouldn't say the drinks were strong. They do a good job of enforcing the theme. They had a "Yeti" come out and interact with the tables. Good for photo ops. They also had a magician doing a few tricks, and I enjoyed that the most. The place was kept fairly chilly! Even the bathrooms had jokes and signage on the walls that alluded to the alps. Overall a great time. Small venue but pretty chill. Can be pricey. Take a sweater. Good for dates and small groups.

Now, you still have to pay a $15 cover to get a decorated theme that just seems extremely lackluster. Then, you're paying $18-20 a cocktail for the most basic of cocktail menus. I work in a speakeasy, the hard work and preparation is what makes it great and attracts people to your venue. Last time I was there, we showed up just before 8, and there was a line of people with reservations waiting to get in. We were the only people there for 45 minutes and then a few other people showed up. You killed this place and it saddens me. I loved your different themes and vibes and now, I will never go back.

The bottomless mimosas ($29.99) sound like a great deal, but just know how they run it. There's a 90-minute minimum, and they don't bring a bottle to the table--you get one mimosa at a time, and you have to finish it before they'll bring another. The first one I got tasted like straight orange juice barely any champagne. I sent it back and to their credit, they remade it much better They mentioned they control pours to keep the environment in check, which I understand--but if you're expecting free-pour vibes, that's not the case here. Food-wise: French toast & breakfast potatoes were really good However the Chilaquiles were super dry and lacked flavor--wouldn't recommend Burger & fries were decent, but nothing special As for drink pricing, it does lean a bit on the higher side. bucket of 5 beers was around $42, $15 for a Tito's vodka shot, and even a basic Jack and Coke came out to about $18 with tip, which felt a little steep for the area. the best deal was definitely the green tea shots at only $9 I will say, our waitress Priscilla was great. She had a lot of tables and seemed a bit overwhelmed, but she still made an effort to check on us and kept my mimosas coming pretty promptly. I didn't have to wait long at all between refills, which I appreciated. Since we went for a special event, the DJs were great and really kept the energy up the whole time Parking was easy. It did say there was a $2 fee, but when we printed the ticket, we weren't charged--so it might be free, but I'd still double-check at the kiosk just in case. Overall: decent spot for the vibe, music, and brunch outing, but just be prepared for controlled drinks and slightly higher prices.

Needless to say I thought the Flyway was an interesting choice of venue for this occasion. Located near the rooftop in the same building as the Fox Theater, you'll see the entrance off Garey. Parking is abundant and can be a bit pricey if you want to park in the closest lot between the Fox and the bank. I paid $25 because I was feeling a bit lazy. After walking up 4-5 flights of stairs (there is an elevator available) you'll find yourself in a nicely decorated room with wooden floors, couches along the wall and colorful lighting. Got that old tyme speakeasy vibe (but no piano music.) The bar is near where you enter. There were a few hiccups in the sound, probably because this place doesn't seem to have live music that often. Or it was on the musicians themselves (there were 11 bands that played, mostly way younger than I). But overall the sound was pretty good. I always have earplugs in but if I forgot them at home I wouldn't have lost much sleep. I didn't drink anything alcoholic but the bartenders were keeping the water cups going. That was very appreciated because with the amount of people moving it got warm on occasion. They also have a smaller balcony with a nice view of Garey and other parts of downtown Pomona. Would I come back for the nightclub? No. I'm too old for that lol. But another live show? Sure why not. You can never be too old for live music.
