Let me begin with the quality. I had been searching for a particular style and make of a bomber jacket like I'd bought in the 70's and wore for decades. I looked at hundreds, and made bad purchase off of ebay. When I saw the Cockpit USA A-2 bomber, I knew immediately that I'd found it. Incredible, beautifully designed and built. The service was also outstanding, as I was leaving on an extended overseas trip and they were kind enough to rush the shipment to me in time for my departure. I have been treated with extreme rudeness by these people, and, also,cheated out of a great deal of money by a re-seller on eBay, with the moniker, "milarmy". I am so impressed by the service I received. I sent an old bomber jacket to have lining, pockets and ribbing repaired. Rose called to update me on their progress and to answer questions. My husband has owned this jacket for 38 years. I asked that they not refurbish the leather as it is nostalgic. Wouldn't honor an exchange after trying on the jacket. I'm very displeased as I was excited for the jacket but now I'm stuck with a $1600 jacket that I can't do anything with but allow it to collect dust in the closet. They did offer military discount which I suppose helped but I certainly won't be purchasing from them again and would recommend anyone else do the same as I was advised against purchasing from this company. Edit: Owner response proves my point. I would not recommend ordering online as the company claims the garment as used when tried on. The passive aggressive response from the owner hardly instills confidence in their business. It's almost assuredly money down the drain when purchasing from this company. There are better companies to purchase from. I'd suggest maybe Overland or Arcteryx. They're cheaper and overall better quality material. And this company's reputation has ruined itself. This review and others that the owner felt so inclined to shut down is only meant to help inform the consumer of a potential purchase. Hopefully this review will help others as they navigate sheepskin or general jacket options to avoid this company and spend their money somewhere it'll be considered as a quality investment and not something you have to regret. This is THE store to get a cool leather jacket. Originally they were supplying the pilot since WWII and still do actually. I have 2, one I got 40 years ago and still great. This time I bring my son to get his. It is on the 12 th floor of a business building, a small room full of jacket and WWII artifacts. I ordered a jacket off their website utilizing the sizing guidelines provided. I found the jacket to be shorter than expected. Due to circumstances surrounding hurricane Helene, I was unable to return the jacket in the 30 day window and they will not accept it back. I would think that a company lauding itself on providing jackets to the US military would certainly understand extenuating circumstances, and exceptions to policy. REBUTTAL: That is correct. I did wear the jacket I think twice. I suppose there is a fine line between "trying on" and wearing. I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt to the product retrospectively. I should've placed it back in the box and sent it back. in addition, I note a theme of defensiveness to negative comments by the EVP. We purchasd the Mustang A-2 leather jacket. Leather is decent. However, we are extremely disappointed with the zipper. It is a flimsy zipper that one would put on a pair of trousers or light jacket, certainly not a heavy leather jacket. For the amount of money we paid, I would expect a substantial zipper, not one that is difficult to pull up and will easily break. I wrote to them twice but they never responded. Poor customer service! I wish I had read the reviews before shelling out this money! read more

Very shady business practices with this company. They will make you go through a verification process to get a military/veteran discount code, then you place your order and pay for it. Later they will arbitrarily cancel your order if you have a different ship to address even though you already got verified and paid. They do not respond to inquiries about sizing on their products (and others have left bad reviews about their sizing as it can be hit or miss). Then they will try and get you to open an Amazon or PayPal account just to make a one time order, not going to happen. This is not a reputable brand and their shady business practices and inconsistent sizing will ensure they will stay that way. Save yourself ton of headaches and hassle and order from a reputable company with good business practices. read more

Essentially around the corner from Bryant Park in midtown Manhattan, between 5th and 6th on the 12 Fl. of 15 W. 39th St. for one of NYC's best kept secrets. Flight Jacket Heaven at Cockpit USA. I just spent a pleasant 45 minutes shopping for a new A2 flight jacket to replace one fourty years old. The staff at Cockpit were kind and patient with top notch knowledge of their stock They helped size and kit me out with a new A2 in short order. I was able to examine the excellent workmanship closely, try on several jackets, and make a mental comparison with my old jacket. Some differences? A better classic fit, wider sturdier cuffs and skirting, and I really like the two deep interior pockets and underarm vents. Great innovations on an already great product. And made in the USA, people! A well made jacket at a mid point price range ( why buy a "designer version" when you can have the real thing?). I expect this piece to be both durable and functional for years to come. A classic piece and a pleasure to wear. Cockpit USA makes a great product . I bought a top of the line Dunkirk Hooded RAF jacket in 2019. The jacket has proven to be exceptionally warm, even in the coldest conditions that a MA winter can dish out. My only complaint: the zipper. Last winter, it broke near the top, allowing the pull to be "pulled" right off the teeth. I used a safety pin to keep the pull on the zipper for most of the winter. This is not what I would have expecte from American made jacket selling at this price. I have less expensive jackets that have zippered flawlessly for decades. (Including a 25+ tear old Schott A-2.) I was quoted $200 to $225 plus shipping to repair the zipper on a jacket with less than 3 full (winter) seasons of wear. Cockpit USA, this is very disappointing. read more

The "All American" M-43 Field Jacket is my 5th purchase dating back to 1987 when I first purchased a "Sack Time" Avirex Type A-2 bomber jacket like the one pictured in the attached photos. That summer I was 16 years old and saved every penny to purchase that jacket for about $450. Unfortunately, that jacket was later stolen off the back of a bar stool chair in 1996, never to be seen again. More recently I purchased the RAF Sheepskin Bomber Jacket, the "Second Chance" A-2 pinup, and the Wool Lined WWII America Tanker Jacket. I purchased a 9th Armored (Phantom Division) insignia patch & had professionally stitched onto the shoulder to complete the look of a WWII "Tanker Jacket". These boys crossed the Rhine in Remagen, Germany on March 7th 1945. I ordered the All American M-43 Filed Jacket on December 21, 2018 and was told by Shanice B. from Cockpit USA that the jacket was on back order and would take 2-3 weeks to complete the order. This does not concern me because I know first-hand that the products are extremely well made and it's a little too cold to wear at this time of the year in Chicago anyway! Maybe Jeff and Jacky Clyman would agree to ship out an additional VP12 Black Cats N4 Aircrew Deck Jacket (size 2XL) to a very loyal customer that has shopped with them dating back to the Avirex and Marc Ecko days? I love that jacket too, it was a toss-up as to which one to get. Or maybe he or Jacky could let me know if they have an "extra" Sack Time A-2 that I could liberate...;) This company rocks! read more

I just got my short peacoat in Black and it is the most beautiful, buttery jacket I've ever owned. I've always been a fan of peacoats and when I saw this option, ( which I've never seen before) I knew I had to have it. The leather is so soft, yet indestructible. Expectations exceeded every time I put it on. It might be the only reason why I don't want winter to end. The hospitality I receive in the showroom is so inviting. Great place to order your leather jackets from. They charge a premium but it shows in the quality products as well as the exceptional customer service. My flight team ordered jackets through GSA Advantage and wound up ordering the wrong ones. The jackets that came in were awesome. They were well made, good looking and had custom embroidery on the interior of the jacket. However, they were not appropriate for official use. We called Jacky Clyman. She set us up to exchange the original jackets for the right ones. I sent them back and was contacted by Renee Vanderhorst who walked me through the rest of the process. She was good about returning my emails and keeping me up on the status of my return. The process did take a few months but it was worth it in the end. The jackets are excellent. I placed my new jacket next to an old one I had from DSCP. The old one felt like plastic when compared to the leather of the CockpitUSA jacket. We are beyond satisfied with our A-2 Bomber Jackets from CockpitUSA! read more

Airplanes hanging from the ceiling and in all different sizes and model will definitely grab your attention. The clothes are all military inspired and most men like that type of clothing. I bought an A2 flight jacket. It's a horsehide jacket and cut to the specs of WWII jacket i.e. a little more fitted than the current issue. The store is a hidden gem, it's very small but has a great selection. They don't have every style in every size but enough that you can get a feel for the jacket and what would fit you. If you can't find what you want they'll order for you. Now to the jacket - quality is second to none, really great looking and fitting jacket. The leather was already a little weathered and broken in, which is what I was looking for. It really only gets better the more I wear it, which is a lot!. I tried on several different jackets while I was in the store - had great fun doing it as well. Every jacket felt well made and I can see a lifetime of wear out of these jacket. My son already has his eye on my A2 but he's going to have to wait a few years until he gets his hands on it. Might have to pay another visit to the store with him in tow so he can get a jacket of his own. All in all, great service (thank you Whitney) and great product. I highly recommend. read more

I am retired U S Navy , my old flight jacket was stolen and I want to replace it. I found one on Ebay identical in the picture to my old navy issue one for $180.00. Great price but when I received it and took it to the teilor to have some patches sewn on it he said it was to heavy and their needle wouldn't go throught the material. I had noticed it was considerably heavier than my old one so I returned it. Stil checking I gound one here (cockpit 46R G-1) so I wanted to know the weight before purchasing it. The person I talked to here said it was 6 or 7 pounds. I knew that wasn't right but he couldn't be bothered to check on it. During peacetime November 1956 I arrived in Incheon Korea and was issued my field equipment. The M1951 field jacket became the one item I hated to return when 16 months later (March 1958) I returned my gear upon leaving Korea. Now at age 79 I have my Jacket back. I had bought an A2 Jacket from the Cockpit back in 1985. My pet parrot decided to chew up the collar. I contacted The Cockpit about the possibility of getting the collar replaced. Just so happens I spoke to Jacky and she said "No Problem" and to ship it to their repair shop. I got the jacket back in about 2 weeks and was amazed at the great job they did.
