I do not live in ATL, and was there visiting family to celebrate my mom's retirement. Her fav cake is chocolate on chocolate. After reading reviews on Cococakes I decided to give it a try as it was in the area where we were staying. You have to order online and pick times are only Friday thru Sunday. They called me on Thursday or Friday to tell me they couldn't accommodate my pickup time and needed to push it back a few hours. I was okay with that. The manager that I spoke to offered me a complimentary big slice of cake of my choice upon arrival. They only have drive-thru option. When picking up the cake I accepted their free offer for a slice of cake and chose Strawberry with cream cheese icing. It was delicious and the slice was huge. About 3 people ate off several sections of the complimentary slice. When they are open for business on the weekends, they sell big slices of various kinds of cakes. The chocolate cake was perfect - my mom is really picky and she loved the cake and so did others that do not normally eat chocolate on chocolate cake. I would highly recommend this place! read more

This place is addictive. They truly serve CHUNKS. Not slices of cake. I've never been to the store itself (not yet) but I've ordered individual cake pieces from them through UberEats and have not been disappointed yet. The Better Buttercream Chunk is delicious -- the cake itself is soft and moist with a hint of lemon that brings out the overall flavor, same with the vanilla buttercream. The Strawberry Buttercream is also delicious -- that same tasty, slightly tangy frosting and moist non-artificial tasting strawberry was a real treat. My favorite so far is the 6-layer Butter Chocolate Chunk. It's traditionally shaped (standard cake -- a generous homemade slice), but still a great portion. I hope I can try the World's Finest German Chocolate Chunk soon, but it's always sold out! The icing on it all is that you're supporting a black-owned business when you order with them. I have actually not been to this bakery, but someone from my work brought me a Carmel truffle cake. It was super delish! It was moist, fluffy, with cake batter inside. Sooooo good. I was so impressed it was more than a truffle. It was a cake, truffle, ball of bliss. I looked this bakery up to find it is close by to my work. I did not think these cakes were worthy of an establishment. I tried a caramel cake and did not like icing. I also sampled some of the chocolate cake it was okay. These cakes are SO GOOD! We used to always get our cakes from Piece of Cake in Decatur, but luckily Cococakes came to Tucker! The cake is so moist and the frosting is the perfect amount of sweetness for the cake. I'm all about proportions when it comes to food, and the cake to frosting ratio is perfection. We're a big fan of the Buttery Caramel Cake, and in my mind it beats Piece of Cake Caramel Cake. I hope Coco and her cakes stay in Tucker for a long long time. read more

I gave it 3 stars because the cakes seem too moist / wet/ soft...I know what you are thinking while most people like moist cakes there is however a texture / consistency I like when eating cake... I purchased a POUND CAKE and I don't know about anyone else but from my experience POUND CAKE is suppose to make you want a glass of milk because it's so rich and thick however not this POUND CAKE, It tasted like a sheet cake just baked in a bundt pan... I just moved to Atlanta and bought a Carmel cake at a trendy Atlanta restaurant. It was almost 10$ and super not worth calories. I had Cococakes Carmel cake while moving out of Tucker (on my last day I finally decided to try it). Soft and perfectly moist sponge on the cake and frosting was superb. I ordered the chocolate cake w/Carmel frosting with 2 scoops of ice-cream. The cake was supposed to be warmed up, they served ice cold. They tried to warm it up again, but failed. the cream scoops were so small, not even a full single scoop. After my complaining about the lack of Ice Cream, the female high school student did nothing about it. The cake flavor was way below average & tasted sugar free with an artificial flavor after taste. Something that should never happen at a bakery where you pay $7.00 for a slice of cake & ice cream. For my mothers 50 birthday party, I decided to order her a delicious and beautiful birthday cake. And found this bakery on Yelp, went bought some slices and was very pleased. The strawberry one was filled with lots of natural strawberries, lots! So I talked to the baker CoCo and told him that I wanted a two story cake for about 50 ppl, with lots of strawberries and that I wanted decorated in a certain way. He said he would surpass my expectations. So my hopes were high. I paid $200 for the cake and felt confident with my decision to choose him as our baker. ------On the day of the party, Coco arrived on time and went on to place the cake. . .When my mother and I first saw the cake we are highly, HIGHLY disappointed. The decoration was nothing like what I showed him. And the cake was very small for the price I paid! HOWEVER I decided to Stay calm bc he said that it was filled with lots of strawberries and that it would taste awesome. And yet again, we were HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED. It had so little strawberry filling. And almost no one ate their slice. . . I felt horrible bc I wanted something truly special for my mom and ended up with something ugly and plain! I feel sad to post this bc Coco the baker seems like a great person. But the product he sold us was a fraud in our opinion! So I was in the area and saw that CocoCakes by Coco is new and so i decided to stop by and get a slice or two of cakes. I end up getting their world famous caramel cake and their fresh strawberries cake. Two slices of cakes set me back 11$ and since the slice weren't that big...it was a bit of an ouch. But its okay...the tastes made up for it. The fresh strawberries were really good! Not too sweet and the icing was really whipped, light and fluffy! I would come back just for that! The caramel cake were very sweet but the cake was really moist so I enjoyed that too! Overall, I would come back for the strawberries cake and try a different flavor. read more
