We both love strawberries and Mochi and thought it was a great combination but the price was expensive. My husband was craving for binsu and Yelp recommended this place in proximity from our location. This shop is popular for serving Korean walnut pastry too which served our sweets craving complete. We ordered their original binsu. The serving size could accommodate two people. It has mochi, soy bean powder, grain flakes , almond nuts , vanilla ice cream , milk and red bean paste. It is heavenly but sadly as time goes by, I find it too sweet for me especially the red bean. I know it is it's main topping but was able to managed to eat the rest skipping the paste. Really amazing dessert spot! I came back here twice in one week because it was that good. The bingsu was very well balanced! I thought the ratio of ice to toppings was really well implemented and the dessert was very filling overall. The ice could be improved a bit, but it overall was really well made and I wouldn't hesitate to try every single flavor on their menu honestly. I had the black sesame the first time I went and the strawberry mochi the next - both were fantastic! The taiyaki was really delicious. I tried the red bean (which has mochi inside as well) and Nutella - both were great. The texture of the taiyaki being a croissant really makes it a unique pastry and I definitely want to eat all the different flavors now. I also tried one of their walnut pastries and thought they were really cute. The flavor is very heavy in red bean so if you don't like red bean, I wouldn't recommend them, but overall the pastry was pretty yummy and I could definitely see myself eating like 10 in one sitting since they're relatively small and a bit addictive. Heard great things about the food here. My husband tired their taiyaki and said it was pretty good. He was ordering from here so I decided to try it. We got the red bean, Nutella and sweet potato. I have to say these were amazing especially when it is freshly made and hot. It was crispy on the outside with the caramelize sugar. The filling was warm and soft and not too sweet. I was searching for a good dessert place on YELP when I found this spot. This joint piqued my interest because of their Bingsu. So, I informed my wife and told her that we should try this place. We went there and we were fortunate to easily get a street parking. We went in and the cleanliness and neatness in this place is immediately noticeable. My wife and I browsed their menu and decided to get their original Bingsu and a medium bag of their walnut pastry (which they are famous of). Our order arrived in no time, the original Bingsu consisted of shaved ice, topped with a large amount of mochi, soy bean powder, , grain flakes, almond nuts, vanilla ice cream, milk and red bean paste. I was glad that we just ordered one Bingsu to share as the portion was humongous. It was too sweet for my wife's taste, but for me it was delightful and enjoyable, in fact I was the one who finished most of the serving. The taste and texture was a combination of sweet, crunchy, cold, chewy, smooth, heavenly dessert. As for the walnut pastry, I also tremendously enjoyed it, I like the taste of the bean paste inside with a medium chunk of walnut at the middle of it. This dessert shop is very minimalist looking which is nice, it creates a very cafe like environment. The service is great, the staff doesn't give negative attitude or vibes like some other places which is great. For me personally, I'd say the only issue is the small space. A lot of their desserts like the bingsoo is really meant to eat sitting down and they don't offer enough seating for people. It can really only fit like 3-4 big groups and thats really the max. I've been going to this place for many years but I stopped two years ago when I realized that I was being excluded from being able to purchase their Nutella taiyaki ... I am not Korean so it appears they only want to make that product available for Koreans , I must've gone 20 times in the past few years and every time I was told it was sold out but now I see all these reviews with Koreans saying they got the wrong taiyaki etc ....I never even got one , I went for about 10 years and i got one ten years ago and I was told they were sold out every time after that for YEARS...so YMMV in this place in trying to get a Nutella taiyaki if you are not a Korean, just saying ...hopefully you won't waste years of your life going to this place like I did read more

I visited this location about an hour and a half before closing, and the person working at the register didn't greet me, or answer any of my questions. She offered no help to explain the traditional desserts on the menu. Instead, she gave me a weird look as if she was judging my lack of familiarity with the menu and seemed to have an attitude. The rude looks continued even into the end of my dining experience as I returned the trays with my friends. Working in the food industry requires a certain level of customer service and manners, as a first time visitor a little more kindness would have went a long way. I've gotten iced mochas at several cafes in the city, but this was the most unique because it had coffee crumbles at the bottom which elevated the drink to a WHOLE new level. Absolutely amazing! I love their croissant taiyakis here! They've had it here before the taiyaki fusions craze built up. Each order comes with 2 taiyakis unless otherwise stated. I always opt for the mochi or red bean one. The taiyakis take a little longer to make because I think they only have 1 or 2 machine for it. Apparently after coming here for many years I have yet to write a review. Idk y and idk how I let that slip by. Every time I come to Cocohodo it's a MUST MUST to get their Croissant Taiyaki!!!!!! They make it fresh when you order. The thing to know when ordering taiyaki is that you must order 2, but you can get 2 different flavors. My fave is the biscoff and mochi filling. The Croissant Taiyaki is soft and hot and crunchy on the outside. The crunchiness comes from the croissant exterior but they put a layer of sugar while making it so the sugar is melted and it hardens as it cools. It give such nice texture and it contrasts so well with the soft flaky inside. When eating remember that the inside is hot so make sure to cool it down before eating. And of course this place is known for their walnut cakes that is SO SO good!!!!! There is a whole walnut half inside with a little bit of red bean. Not too sweet and not too unsweet ( does that even make sense?) But this is def a cafe I keep coming back cause of the Taiyaki. Give it a try and see what I mean. I come here rather often, and it's a solid place for ice. I particularly like their green tea flavored ice and original flavor. While the place is named for the walnut cakes they sell, it is not my favorite place to buy those. What I think they do particularly well are the croissant taiyaki! I love those. Cute little local cafe known for their "hodo kwaja's" which are basically walnut pastries native to South Korea! I've been here many many times even well before COVID was a thing. They were always super sharp & excellent in terms of service & food/drink standards. This time was no different, their service was excellent. I came with my family after having some food next door at the Basac. They checked our vaccination statuses before serving us, which was a plus in my book. We ordered an Orange mojito, Vanilla Latte, Sweet Plum Tea, & a Strawberry Limeade. I tried everything & everything was so good. Definitely would recommend trying all of the above. Their bingsoo's are pretty good as well (shaved ice desserts)... and of course, their walnut pastries. You basically order it by quantity... & you could even customize it & ask for nutella filling instead of red bean! (Which was pretty neat & new). I came here and tried out some of their stuff. The bubble tea slush are great. The bubble tea over ice was watery bland though and didn't taste good in my opinion. I tried all the flavors, my favorite is Honeydew and Taro. Nutella taiyaki was very tasty and crispy. Kind of pricy though at almost 10 dollars in my opinion. Had to come here to try that croissant boonguhbang pastry! I thought it was only the red bean choice but after looking at the menu, they have many options such as strawberry or blueberry cream cheese filling. For my first time I though, I wanted to try the red bean option. One order comes with two pastries and the wait is about 10-15 minute. They have one table with one seat, might just be for decor, but it was super cute and cozy in there. They had the Christmas light decor with dim lights. On my search to find the best tasting bingsu with the best texture, I found myself head over heels after trying Cocohodo for the first time. I would even dare say that it's the best out of all the dessert spots in the area.
