Sweet Potato Taiyaki (1Piece) Batata 고구마 붕어빵(1마리)
    Lily L.

I love this place during a nice and cold day. Their croissant taiyaki are to die for and because the warm filling is embedded inside of this buttery flaky pastry, it keeps the heat trapped inside. My all time favorite is the sweet potato croissant taiyaki which I also ordered this time around. Usually I order it with a Nutella croissant taiyaki which already if you're a Nutella fan should make your mouth water. This time, I tried the mochi taiyaki and it was also sooo delicious! The exterior is still the same butter Trish exterior and the interior was packed with sticky mochi and red bean. Regardless of what type of filling you want to try, definitely try their taiyaki if you are around this area. They have indoor seating. I always grab it to go which is why I love how warm and comforting this snack is!

I mapped a few dessert spots near When In Bangkok, where my good friend Jane and I had lunch earlier. Cocohodo had been on my Yelp bookmarks forever, and I finally got to try it. The ambiance was perfect for our dessert date. Drink Jane: Cafe Latte (Hot) Dessert Jane: Chocolate Ice Cream Croissant Taiyaki Me: Vanilla Ice Cream Croissant Taiyaki I had never heard of croissant taiyaki, but it sounded unique. We ordered one with chocolate filling and another with vanilla. The croissant taiyaki was crispy and flaky. Bookmark this spot to try!

An okay dessert spot, the bingsu here looks pretty good but didnt try, the taiyaki was decent and the waffle with red bean and ice cream was okay as well, the only thing that felt really subpar was their name sake item the walnut pastry the cocohodo as the item was just a walnut bread, nothing special. With all the dessert spots along the area this place being just okay, unfortunately just doesn't cut it

I came here on a Sunday night to get their croissant taiyaki and it was still quite packed. I got their sweet potato flavor and red bean flavor and really enjoyed it! I don't think I've had something like this previously so I was glad to try this on their menu!

I ordered a Mango and Oreo Pingsu. They were both good but my favorite was the mango! The Mango Pingsu was so refreshing and the mango's were so sweet and fresh. The vanilla ice cream and mochi was divine. I think I also tasted coconut! I felt like I was eating dessert on a tropical island. It was busy on Sunday afternoon but luckily my daughter and I found a seat for 2. The service was ok, the workers did what they were supposed to do and made our food and helped us when we needed it. Efficient service. The place was small and jam packed with families and couples.

Absolute 5 stars just for the mochi bungeoppang (taiyaki). This was everything I love in one pastry: bungeoppang, croissants, and mochi. The outer part was made out of croissant dough and baked so perfectly crisp. They're also not stingy at all with the filling, and the one thing I was worried about when ordering this was that it was actually red bean mochi (I am not a fan of red bean) but I actually didn't mind since it was a red bean paste and complimented the rest of the pastry very well. The shaved ice we ordered were good as well but definitely not the star of (my) show.

Desserts were nice to look at, but the fruit on the shaved ice tasted like it was frozen - which is very noticeable, especially for an item that's called Very Berry. The mochi waffle was a bit tastier, but the portion was kind of small. Overall a nice casual space for dessert, but I would probably go for other places in Flushing.

The fish dessert with sweet potato is sooooo good. I will definitely go back for that. It's best eaten when served at the restaurant since it'll be fresh and crispy. The waffle and ice cream was quite good too. Seats at first come first serve and the workers were nice!

    Very berry bingsoo

Their Very Berry Yogurt Shaved Ice was really refreshing, and I like how their shaved ice comes in metal bowls, which prevents it from melting too quickly. It seemed like there were some sugar crystals, maybe from the yogurt power and/or condensed milk, but it wasn't overly sweet. Would definitely come back to reorder this or try some of their other flavors. The only thing I don't like is how they only provide plastic cutlery.

We got the Coco Original Mochi Waffle and Red bean taiyaki! Both dishes came out freshly made. I loved the how crispy the exterior was for the red bean taiyaki. It also came with a lot of filling! The Coco Original Mochi Waffle was covered in walnuts, almonds, and soybean powder. I loved how chewy the waffle was! This place has a lot of seating for those who want to enjoy their food when it's nice and warm! It's a great spot for a quick snack with friends or a date.

We stopped here for dessert after dinner nearby and it's a cute little bakery with seating. They offer a range of bread, pastries and shaved ice along with drinks. We opted for an order of mango bingsoo with extra condensed milk (I forgot it had already come with it). The dessert was huge and justified the price, more than enough to share between 2 people. The space is on the smaller side but does have some seating along the wall to sit down and enjoy your dessert. There is no shortage of good bakeries in this area but I would recommend this spot to satisfy an occasional sweet tooth.

Great service, kind staff. They ran out of their famous walnut cakes at 8pm on a Thursday and they only make a limited amount daily. Will be back to try them one day! I did wind up getting a red bean taiyaki instead and have zero complaints and only raving reviews. Crust is the flakey salty kind and not the cakey kind which pairs perfectly with not too sweet red bean paste. Can't wait to try their famous walnut cakes!

    Mochi and Red Bean Taiyaki
    Justin V.

The croissant style taiyaki was my favorite dessert from Cocohodo! I shared the red bean mochi flavor with my friend and the idea of using a croissant for the taiyaki casing is absolute genius! It was buttery, yet sweet with a great crispy edge. For the shaved ice I tried the mango version and thought it was pretty standard. The ratio of milk ice to toppings was just right, and the mangoes weren't sour at all. Unfortunately the grape-ade sparkling drink was a miss for me. I didn't particularly enjoy the grape syrup they used. The picture I took was prior to mixing it up but I also felt as though the flavor fell flat. Overall, I'd recommend trying the taiyaki if you're craving a warm, sweet treat!

The lady who I assume is the boss said she had held a pop-up shop about two years prior which blew up, hence what we see here. The selection here was deceptively small compared to chain bakeries, but it didn't take us long recognise how much power the smaller selection packs and, actually, how the selection really is not small at all. The matcha red bean loaf grabbed my attention straight away and didn't disappoint, but their red bean bun was just as impressive, as it's a more bread-y counterpart to the fluffy versions other bakeries typically have. The onioissant is definitely experimental and worked better on the chive bacon cream cheese one than on the pollack roe, which was a bit too much on the salty and fishy side for my liking. Their chocolate horn is at least twice as big as a typical one you'll find at other bakeries and has a rich dark chocolate filling which was a pleasant surprise. Their coffee brioche pastry was another hit, thanks to the strong coffee filling and delicate layers of pastry. There's ample tables and chairs, beverage menu, and I'm sure we'd come hang if we lived closer. I can't wait to go back.

It was a bit of a sweet & savory mix, but not strong in either sweet or salty flavors. There was also this persimmon snack that was filled with nuts and other things. It was slightly sweet, very unique, and both paired well as a tea time snack. They're also open until 11:30pm! The broccoli was just steamed though, so there was nothing special there. And it also came with a corn salad. He thought the Peach Gum Soup was a bit different but liked it nonetheless. And the Tangerine Peel Lemon Tea was good too. * Lunch Combo Series 1) - Curry Fried Pork Rice, Pandan Pudding, Passion Fruit Tea - My fried pork with curry sauce was enjoyable too. I liked that it came with a purple rice, which was a nice touch. Mine also came with steamed broccoli and a corn salad. I do wish there was a bit more curry sauce though. The Pandan Pudding was yummy and I really enjoyed my Passion Fruit Tea. It's served with a white sauce that you'll need to pour over the dish. I think getting a few desserts and sharing them would be a great option here. Overall, we enjoyed our visit to Jin Xi. I know most people visit for their desserts, but their savory options are worth checking out too. The wait may seem a bit longer for their hot items as other Yelpers had mentioned since they use an electric stove instead of a gas one.
