The atmosphere is okay. The music and fans are a bit loud. It's not much of a relaxing sit down vibe. Service has been okay. Food wise, there's a good selection of macarons and gelatos. I've had most of the gelatos, and out of the ones I've tried, I like black sesame & strawberry cheesecake the post. The Old Fashioned Taiyaki - Has been undercooked multiple times now. I received undercooked taiyaki 4 times in a row with the inside being extremely gooey and inedible. When cooked well, it's really good but unfortunately it hasn't been consistent. Coffee Affogato - It was okay, the espresso is a bit more harsh than it should be. It might be a bit burnt. Is coffee ice cream but tastes better than a typical "coffee ice cream". When looking for this place on Apple Maps it shows as Sweet Churros & Ice cream but on google maps it shows as Cocohodo - I was craving churros so my husband brought me here after dinner in wood ridge. Parking is hard to find, we had to park 4 blocks away. Churros are SO GOOD! Served to order hot and warm - very fresh and so yummy. We were full from dinner so we didn't get ice cream or soft serve - just the Oreo churro ($7). It was so good we got a regular churro to take on the ride home. :) the churros only take 5 min for them to make and fulfilled my craving! Love love love. Went for the churros. All the churros. They make them fresh when you order, so obviously the fry is perfect. Don't be afraid of the marshmallow-- they put on just enough to make the texture interesting. Also had a boba milk tea which was great. I needed to satisfy my sweet tooth, so I chose Cocohodo in Pal Park because they have an extensive dessert menu. But maybe it's too extensive for its own good... It almost feels "all over the place," if you know what I mean. It's like they're trying to be a coffee shop, bubble tea shop, bakery, juice bar, Asian dessert store, and gelato/ice cream parlor all at once. One of the most popular items they are known for are sweet churros. The thing is, their churros are not that sweet (which may or may not be a good thing depending on your preference). If you're expecting them to be on the level of authentic Mexican ones, they missed that by miles. I ordered the original churro (cinnamon sugar) with taro soft serve ice cream ($8). I give them bonus points because they made the churro fresh, but once I took a bite into it, I was disappointed. It was incredibly bland and wasn't coated enough with sugar and cinnamon. The taro ice cream was way too icy, so icy that I could literally see the individual ice bits. It was nothing like the consistency of ice cream, soft serve, OR froyo. Service is just okay. I wasn't greeted and the employee seemed a bit stand off-ish. A smile and a "Hi, how are you?" or "Do you have any questions about the menu?" goes a long way. They have so many other things on their menu, so maybe you can find something that you would like. But overall this was just a very average experience for me. read more

Pretty nice little ice cream shop with a host of other sweet items to chew on. I took the family here and the ice cream was definitely a hit. The texture of the ice cream was actually pretty good and they give you a decent amount for what you pay for. The interior is fairly simple, it's just a place to grab some quick desserts. Nothing special or splashy but it gets things done. I don't know what else to say other than this is a great choice if you want dessert after a gigantic Korean bbq meal nearby (which is exactly what we did) and it hit the spot! read more

They have a good selection and the sizes are definitely bigger than what you would typically think of as a small, so you're getting your moneys worth. The original yogurt soft serve was delicious and we also got birthday cake (but it tasted more like cotton candy). I tried out this cafe only because it was late at night and many other cafes were closed or packed - I didn't have high expectations so I was so shocked when I ordered the taiyakis and they came out so fresh and sooooo good! The original one (I ordered it with cream) took a while to come out - but it was almost like a mochi on the inside (and crispy on the outside)!!! I went back and ordered some more!! Needed a mid-afternoon caffeine fix, so i dropped in to get a drip coffee but was tempted by all the sweets options. Wanted everything.... The walnut pastry, the taiyaki.. but then those fridges w all the glass jars just kept beckoning to me, and I succumbed to temptation and got an espresso crème brûlée. Still in theme w my original intent of getting caffeine right? Service was 5/5 excellent and efficient, lots of seating but I took it to go. Solid hodo gwaja (walnut pastry snack)! Recently picked up a bag of 30 to go--they were solid. Each piece only had one walnut but overall it was fresh. This Cocohodo is way different than the other location I've been to (in Closter). I had high expectations and felt very underwhelmed. The pricing and flavors for their croissant taiyakis are different also. At this location you get two smaller ones instead of one large one per order. Unfortunately, the four croissant taiyakis that we got did not taste at all like croissant and didn't have the light glaze on top. They were unsweetened and flavorless waffles - like eating a saltine without salt and also very dry. Hopefully the day we visited was just an off day because after my experience in Closter, I had been raving about Cocohodo and the amazing croissant taiyakis to everyone! We came for dessert. Sad that there isn't much seating anymore because of the pandemic. So you can't really hang out. There are four very small tables outside. We ordered the ice cream churro with green tea ice cream. The churro was very good to our surprise. Made to order. And tasted perfectly soft. And not too over saturated with sugar. The ice cream was a bit too watery. I guess it was soft serve ice cream. But a little too soft and turned to soup really quick. Eat fast! Even after reading some reviews I wanted to give this spot a chance. A friend and I visited on a weekday night cause he was craving some sweets. I got an order of a churro with some marshmallow and coconut on it. My friend got a plain one with a vanilla and matcha ice cream. Like the reviews said the ice cream tasted off. It was sour and really tasted like it has gone bad. My churro was okay. Not freshly made. His was though and it tasted pretty good. Really just a lot of execution issues. Uh, I used to come here to pick up frozen yogurt. And then they started selling lots of other stuff like taiyakis, churros, keki cheesecakes and some snacks on the side like a deli. I've tried taiyaki, outside is crispy and nice but there barely was any fillings... whether it's green peas, red beans or cream, they are so stingy, there's barely any filling inside. Also, they are pre-made and keep them in an oven so it's not fresh. Churros are nice though. All their stuff is overpriced but I thought it was okay. And then I saw they were selling the tiger sugar milk tea. I've been to the authentic tiger sugar milk tea store in Flushing and was pretty impressed so I decided to give it a try in Jersey. Huge mistake. For a small black sugar milk tea, I paid $5.88.. it was tiny.. I saw the server making it, it was just pre-made tea with milk and they put some syrup which is like melted bobas.. and that was it. Is this really black sugar milk tea? I don't know. There's bubble tea, gelato, a wide assortment of frozen desserts, Mochi, pastries, tayaki fish cakes, and of course fresh made churros. I got the churro with rainbow cereal and melted marshmallow and loved every bite! The crunchy caramelized cinnamon sugar and colorful cereal topped with gooey marshmallow creates the perfect juxtaposition to the warm chewy inside of the churro. Makes for quite an epicurean adventure. Also a very aesthetically pleasing dessert perfect for photos. The croissant tayaki fish cake with custard cream filling is also fantastic for those who prefer a more buttery flaky texture. All freshly made and served steaming hot. Hodo is a small, individually wrapped Korean walnut pastry, shaped like a walnut and filled with a bit of red bean paste and (surprise!) a walnut. You can get it in the bus, in Korea. Here, it's a bite of nostalgia for transplants and a source of fascination for enthusiasts of the culture like me. However, it's not what we came here for specifically. I wanted to try Cocohodo's infamous Bing Soo; a milky, fruity, soft-flavor-pearls-that-burst-in-your-mouth-y shaved ice desert that I was promised, would blow my mind. The $13-dollar multi-person treat did not disappoint at all. The fruit (pieces of mango, strawberry and blueberries) was fresh, ripe and sweet. The ice cream mixed with lightly shaved ice was silky and refreshing. Every ingredient in it danced beautifully with each other. And the thing is huge! The experience was way worth the 15 minutes that it took to get prepared. We also ordered the Hodo and a delicious churro/ice cream combo that no kid should grow up without knowing. I would love to give this place a 5 star. The food and drinks are great but there's just one thing about this place that sets me back, the attitude that I receive from the cashier. Today, I simply asked her about the flavor of the macaroons and she just responded "just tell me how many you want" with a very rude and annoyed tone, when paying, also the same tone .... Which is not the way to go for the hospitality industry. Usually the man that takes my order is very polite. So maybe the females should learn a little.
