I have to update my review to 5 stars. Every time we visit HMart, I always look forward to stopping at D'avant. Their candied chestnut croissant cube is one of my favorite pastries ever. Laminated croissant dough rippled with candied chestnuts... it reheats SO well and a slice toasted with butter is truly divine. They do sell you if you go afternoon or later in the day. We also tried the breakfast sandwich for the first time and it was very good!

Joy ranged in my heart, when I was in Ridgefield, NJ over the weekend and saw from the road, D'avant Bakery. OMG! Stop the Press! Did I see, what I saw... this was a rhetorical question. Finding an authentic bakery that sells daily, purely fresh, masterfully made like grandma's mouthwatering tasty recipes for you and your lovely family to simply enjoy. There are "3" locations in New Jersey: Edgewater, Palisade & Ridgefield. And each location has its own unique style, venue and welcoming. BTW, the artistry style cakes, does remind you of Little Italy in the Bronx on Arthur's Avenue. Mastery at its finest (see the pictures below). I am humbled too, by the stellar service of the friendly staff; WOW!

Super clean, newer location with seating and bathrooms, this is located in the old Boston Market spot in the parking lot (very busy and sometimes hard to find parking). They don't have the full spectrum of pastries that we've gotten in the Bergen County shop, but they do have the 1000 layer bread.

Bakery @ Ridgefield, NJ outside Hmart The bakery was clean but the seating was limited. Also, I didn't like that pastries and bread were displayed in open air without any protective covers. The fillings of beef croquette tasted delicious but it was not heated up properly so the fillings were cold. The drip coffee tasted very good. We didn't like the taste of the cream donut and the layered bread was dry.

This is one of my go to bakeries in Ridgefield. The 1000 layer bread loaf was gently sweetened and was very croissant like. We gave up counting the layers. The matcha croissant roll is interesting. It was sweetened and perhaps has some chocolate in it, creating a bitter effect where there was no matcha. The cream was sweet, some matcha flavor comes though. The plain croissant is gently sweetened on the outside with a crispy crust. Inside it is fluffy and chewy. Butter flavor varies from batch to batch. The crust on apple danish was flaky and chewy. The apples on top are sweetened. I enjoy this as a desert or part of breakfast. The beef croquette we had was only average. This one had lots of veggies in it, I prefer the Japanese version with potato. The sweet rice cake pastry is becoming one my favorites. Mochi and red bean are mixed in with pastry dough. It's either chewy, crunchy or both and the three main ingredients blend or work well on their own. Again, butter flavor varies from batch to batch.

This place is going on my must visits when in Fort Lee. All the pastries we tried were so good and we definitely had many different ones. My favorite would be the matcha croissant circle, tissue croissant and the black sesame tigre. Drinks were also good but definitely inconsistent. We visited two days in a row but my same drink looked and tasted different. But it's kinda like a dunkins, it's similar enough that it's still yummy and drinkable! Service was super nice. I wanted to bring some matcha croissants back for family on my roadtrip home but they ran out. The cashier took the time to check in the back to see if there were any left. Place is super cute, instagrammable, and clean. Nothing to complain about here except for maybe some complimentary ice water for those that stick around for a bit in there and spend a good amount of money on the baked goods.

I like their first location more but this one is in the plaza is a plus! I like their first variety of pastries they sell and their drinks too.

3.5 stars. Convenient location for grabbing a coffee or pastry if you're shopping in the Super Hmart plaza. I ordered a Chestnut latte and unfortunately found the coffee to have a burnt flavor. It was fine but not worth the $6 I paid for it. On the other hand, the pastries are unique and delicious, though trending on the pricey side. I found a place to sit for a bit but the seating area is probably more comfortable for a short visit. It's not really ideal for catching up or using your laptop. Overall, this spot is probably better to pick up a few baked goods to-go. I wouldn't go out of my way to stop by, but it's a nice option if you're in the plaza.

This is my 2nd time trying D'avant Bakery. My 1st time was at the Ridgefield location and I was so enamored that I was thrilled to find a location close to where I was staying while in Jersey. This location is smaller compared to Ridgefield and has less offerings in my opinion. This feels more fast food as the one in Ridgefieled feels more luxurious. But I love trying new things so I went with the Black Sesame Sweet Rice Donut, Chestnut Raisin Pastry, Creme Brulee Pastry, Corn Cheese Croquette and the Thousand Layer Mini Pastry Loaf. Let's start with the savory first, I really loved the Corn Cheese Croquette. It was not overpowering and a good amount of filling. Definitely would get that again. The Black Sesame Sweet Rice Donut was subtly sweet but my wife couldn't get over the Black filling oozing out. So if you are a visual eater you may not enjoy it as much. I liked that it wasn't overly sweet. The Chestnut Raisin Pastry was probably my least favorite as it felt dry but still not bad. I can't personally review the Creme Brulee because my wife devoured it before I could try it. But I guess that's a positive review in of itself. She said it was delicious. As for what we were told was the most popular item, the Thousand Layer Mini Pastry Loaf, it was just so much fun to peel layer after layer. Each layer was buttery and airy. It's definitely a test on your will power to not just eat the whole thing but I feel that also part of the allure. Parking is easier here than the Ridgefield location as it's in a shopping strip but I still prefer the Ridgefield. But to satisfy my Korean bakery itch I'm always happy to stop at D'avant.

We stumbled upon this bakery when we went to H-Mart. There's a wide selection of pastry and some look very interesting. We tried the hazelnut almond pasty and thought it was at least on par with Paris Baguette. And it costs about the same as Paris Baguette. There are plenty of tables if you want to enjoy your pastry or drink. There's also a drive-thru. The decor is nice and clean. The service is decent as well. Will come back and try other things next time we come to H-Mart

Went to D'avent Bakery with my good friend Jabriel J., for coffee and pastries on a Wednesday afternoon. It's in what used to be a Boston Market. They stripped it down, and now it looks modern and new. The center of the room has trays of pastries where you serve yourself. Drink orders are taken at the counter. All the pastries looked delicious but i got a strawberry croissant with an ube sweet cream cold brew. The ube cold brew was light and sweet, perfect for afternoon coffee. The strawberry croissant was flaky and filled with a lightly sweet cream. Seating isnt the most comfortable and it got pretty busy for a weekday but it is worth a visit.

D'avant Bakery serves up a delightful fusion of French and Korean pastry techniques, and their creations feel both refined and playful. The standout for me was the light, buttery, and flaky thousand‑layer pastry loaf The bakery's location is super convenient right next to an HMart, making it easy to combine errands with sweet treats. While the pastries were excellent, I didn't get a chance to try their coffee this time around. That's definitely something I'll be coming back to explore.

Manager Maria and cake display. They don't offer any service on cake
    Kyle Tweil K.

Manager Maria mentioned that they don't offer services such as writing messages for special occasions or any decorations, which is quite standard at other bakeries. This was frustrating, and because of this, I don't think I will be purchasing a cake from this location.

I noticed that Mavi's has installed wall mounted televisions, which scroll menu items, specials, and upcoming events. This was my first time ordering from their brunch menu and it was outstanding. My Western Omelette (ham, onion, mushroom, pepper, egg, potato, arugula, almond slices) was an excellent choice. Every ingredient was fresh, the eggs were fluffy, and it was accompanied by a side salad and two large slices of multigrain bread. The other items were the artistically presented Avocado Salad (Avocado, tomato, onion crisp, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, arugula mixed salad, almond slices with balsamic glaze and sesame dressing) and the Toowoomba Shrimp Donkatsu (crispy, golden-fried cutlet smothered in a rich, creamy, and spicy Cajun Toowoomba sauce with shrimp, onions, and mushrooms, served alongside a half-portion of pasta). This dish is succulent, creamy, pleasantly spicy, and thoroughly enjoyed. I'll never dine at Mavi's without ordering a Kimchi Bulgogi Pizza (tomato sauce, mozzarella, onion, mushroom, bulgogi beef, kimchi, scallion, spicy mayo drizzle). Not only does every ingredient dance in your mouth, but the soft beet infused crust makes this one of the best pizzas I've happily savored.

I was excited to finally order dinner after hearing good things, but my husband and I were unfortunately disappointed with the experience. We ordered takeout for dinner: Toowoomba Shrimp Pasta with Tonkatsu and the Spicy Original Tteokbokki (rice cakes) with Fried Kim-ma-ri (fried seaweed rolls). The shrimp pasta had good flavor but the portion was way too tiny. After only three or four bites, it was gone. There were about 4 pieces of shrimp in the entire dish and they could've added more pasta, given that it's not an expensive ingredient. The tonkatsu was also underwhelming. It was a small piece served in a large container that made the portion size look even more skimpy. I was also disappointed in the tteokbokki. It was mostly sauce with no egg and only a few pieces of fish cake, again served in a container that was far too large for the amount of food provided. The kim-ma-ri pieces were fine but also very small. Overall, the meal was underwhelming. For a total cost of nearly $50, the quantities were just way too small. We were left feeling unsatisfied and still hungry.
