I was 41, overweight, and knew nothing about boxing when I first started working with coach Ryan. Over the last year and half, he has coached the heck out of me, so much so that not only did I lose 30 pounds, but also participated and won my very first boxing competition at age 42! Dream come true! During the competition, coach Ryan and the team were always at the corner supporting me, as he always has in every phase of my training. When I first met him, I could tell he is built different. Not only is he a great coach, but is also an active fighter, and hence he personally really does what he preaches. He really knows his stuff, and is extremely professional and knowledgeable about his fields of expertise, including MMA, boxing, and wrestling. On top of that, coach Ryan comes from a family with multiple fighters, so this stuff is in his genes and bloodline!!! In the process of training with him, ALL of his suggestions work! There were a couple times when I wanted to try and see if my own way is better, but turns out his suggestion always works and is always better! Somewhere down the road I started to trust him completely and do what he says without even a blink (especially during the competition). I am also very surprised and impressed with the diversity of coach Ryan's students. I have seen him working with toddlers, teenagers, adults, boys, girls, men, women, geriatrics such as myself, beginners, intermediate, collegiate competitors, state champs, and even pro mma fighter (his own brother, ask him, he will proudly show you), he coaches all and works well with all of them. I personally have participated in Coach Ryan's group classes, sparring classes, as well as private session 1vs1 classes, he would explain and show you techniques to a great extent that not a lot of coaches would go to. I personally have also done a lot of research on boxing coaches' and boxing clubs' pricing, and I personally think coach Ryan's price is reasonable. His lessons and sessions will definitely let you have the bang for your buck! When it was close to my competition, I had to sit there and rest for about five minutes after the training session just to put my shoes on, and that was exactly the type of intensity and training I was looking for! One word of advice, when Coach Ryan asks you how you are feeling, instead of responding "I am fine thank you" as most social convention dictates, let him know how you really feel physically, and he will adjust the training accordingly and customize it to your needs for that day on the spot, that's how good he is! read more
