    Chardonnay at the bar!
    Shelby S.

Jason at the bar is awesome!!!! Only came here one time before this and he totally remembered me. All staff here are super friendly. Jason is quick attentive and very personable. The casino is small but they have promotions almost every day, but the staff is definitely the reason I keep coming back. The machines are fair, you win some you lose some. If you gamble you know sometimes it feels like there's a little gremlin underneath the screen pocketing all your money! Not here!! Lots of regulars and a warm, welcome vibe. Love this place!

    Steak & Egg special
    Daniel M.

Sunday morning my Dad and I tried the diner for breakfast. The menu is very small with limited dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. However they cover the basics. I had the chicken fried steak and my Dad had the ribeye steak & eggs special. The food was very good. The chicken fried steak was standard frozen & deep fried fare but the gravy was homemade and the hash browns were good. The stand out was the steak & egg special - the ribeye was cooked as requested to medium rare and was surprising large for a breakfast steak. The atmosphere is unremarkable but has a good view of the mountains from the large picture windows. The staff were very accommodating and attentive.

The pumps play advertisements nonstop, and there's no shut off for the sound. I am annoyed.

Basically our room was two rooms that have been converted into a suite that has a kitchen, little dining island, living room, and a separate bedroom and bathroom. It has two doors to enter, so a little weird but honestly, super practical. The rooms were very quiet and I couldn't hear any noise from any neighbors. The shower was great and the water stayed super hot through both of our showers. The room was spacious and clean (though the floor could have been swept/mopped better imo). The first night we were there, someone got sick in the parking lot. I called the operator and explained the situation and asked if they had anyone to clean it up as it wasn't exactly what anyone wants to see and to my surprise they immediately sent someone out who was able to clean up that spot! Thank you!! The casino is small, but had some good games. Overall, I'd stay here again.

We have stayed in the hotel a couple times as well. We're pretty satisfied with both areas. This time we're staying in the motor lodge section of CVI. It's ok. Not our favorite. The room needs a lot of updating. It's a little dingy in some areas and it's not as clean as we expected it to be. Curtains have hooks missing and signs of stains. Bathroom rusting in some spots and exhaust fan cover just hanging to dear life. It's a nice location and it's walking distance to a lot of places. Oh also, the walls are super thin. We can hear our neighbors talking clearly. It's like they're just in our bathroom at 1 point their conversation was so clear. This motor lodge had a lot of potential so please please CVI management please consider updating and give the rooms some attention. It's going to be really bad in a couple of months if it's not attended to asap. Love love love CVI. Staff is 110% helpful and kind!!! Save the motor lodge. Do t let it be an afterthought

They have fresh coffee 24/7, a soda machine and hot water and tea bags for those who prefer to drink tea. And, of course, they have a full bar for those who want alcohol. If they served food, this would be a perfect place to visit. That's the only thing they are missing (and I don't recommend buying your food from the bakery next door...read that review before you buy anything from them.) Even if they had a simple hot dog cart for game days in the sports book, that would be enough. William Hill has a sports book inside with plenty of big tvs to watch most live sports. The only sport they don't carry is horse racing (which is a major disappointment). However, they will carry horse racing on big racing days, such as the Kentucky Derby, but keep mind they are NOT parimutuel. That means they won't pay you full track odds, so if you bet a Pick 6 and it hits for $500,000, they won't pay you the full amount. Instead, they'll pay you something like 300to1 based on your amount wagered AND use a hard cap of a maximum $5,000 payout for any bet made. For casual horse players who only bet Win/Place/Show, you're probably okay placing wagers on horse racing here when they carry it. Otherwise, true horse bettors need to find a parimutuel book (such as CVI, Atlantis, Peppermill or Caesar's Republic - always ask the teller if they are a true parimutuel before you place a horse racing wager). On the plus side, they have kiosks for placing bets if you don't wish to place your bet through a teller (like me).

I decided to try it again today, hoping that, they would have changed. Unfortunately, no change. I always play the same machine. I arrived at 12:50 PM. The casino is usually pretty empty, and now I know why! There are NO cocktail waitresses. You're depending on the bartender to see you and realize that you are there. Sometimes there two bartenders. They do not walk around to check on customers. This one bar tender (picture posted) was talking to someone for over 30 minutes, not paying any attention to any other customers. I can see the bar from where I'm playing. After waiting 40 minutes, I took a chance, leaving my purse on my chair, to go to the bar. I told the bartender where it was sitting, that I had been sitting there for 40 minutes, and could I please have a Chardonnay. She eventually brought it to me. The other problem . . . The whole place smells like Pine-Sol cleaner. Workers are continuously cleaning when there's really no customers. If they had someone paying attention to the customers playing, maybe COD's business would do a lot better. I will not go back! I will bring my money elsewhere!

The restaurant is in the northeast corner and has beautiful views of Topaz Lake. It was Spring when we visited and the lake was full and the mountain tops had a nice white cap. Our waitress was a very attentive, patient and friendly server. Between the four of us we order the breakfast special prime rib and eggs which came with toast and choice of home fries or hashed browns. The prime rib was a thin cut, cooked as ordered and just the right size for breakfast., bacon & eggs. The bacon was very flavorful with crispy hashed brown potatoes and an english muffin. We also ordered a side of very tasty onion rings. Lastly, the Southwest Chicken Wrap ordered with grilled chicken. It is filled with blackbeans, southwest sauce, cheese and lettuce. It was a little lacklustered and I don't highly recommend it. The french fries were crispy and yummy. Coffee refills were a plenty. They serve blind dog coffee here which is lovely! The portions were more than we could eat and we never felt rushed to leave.

I had to stop the flooding myself, getting soaked in dirty water contaminated with urine and feces. Reaching anyone for help was nearly impossible--the front desk and operator didn't answer, and housekeeping took 10 minutes to pick up. After engineering temporarily repaired the toilet that was on its way out, housekeeping barely cleaned the bathroom. They wiped up the visible mess with towels but never mopped or disinfected the area, despite us traveling with children and a baby. I went down to speak with the front desk manager, Kayla Smith at 5:00 a.m. after losing an entire night's sleep, the only compensation she offered was some resort credit. I asked for a late checkout so we could at least get some rest, but I was told the hotel was "fully booked" and couldn't accommodate the request. On a Monday, that explanation was difficult to believe and felt like an excuse rather than a genuine attempt to help. Beyond the great location, the property feels old, poorly maintained, and unclean. Between the lack of responsiveness, inadequate cleanup, and poor customer service, I can't recommend staying at Harrah's Lake Tahoe. There are better options nearby.

There were some weird things happening in our unit during our stay. The fire alarm went off at 4:20 am one of the mornings- completely woke us up from a dead sleep. We didn't see people evacuating or hear any announcements. Apparently it wasn't the whole building/ not sure exactly what happened. We talked with some ladies in the hot springs who were a floor above us- they never hear the alarm. The jacuzzi in our room wouldn't turn on jets when I tried it. This was during a thunderstorm-so the hot springs were out of the question. The front desk was caring and offered to send maintenance- but I had already added my essential oils and soak mixture- so I just needed to soak at that point. I'm sure they have resolved these issues after we checked out. We enjoyed the spaciousness of the room- as well as the large deck for sunrise, sunset, and watching the stars and clouds. Plenty of parking in the lot The hot springs were cleaner in the mornings- so not sure if that happens 1x a day, We went in the first night- but lots of debris in the tubs Cleaner next morning. We also had red about different temperatures on the different hot spring pools/ did not find a difference in temperature Also, the jets are not turned on for the hot springs. Apparently this happened years ago. There is a morning water aerobics class Monday and Wednesday at 8. This seems to be popular. We enjoyed eating at the restaurant on the property the first night. We had to sit in the bar area due to a large party booking the whole dining room- this was one of the best meals we had while in the area- just wish they were open more days.
