We checked the Fountain Valley location but last minute decided to look into this location (Newport Beach/Costa Mesa). Both location seems very friendly and accommodating and of-course offer similar classes/schedules but this location worked better for us because it is closer to home and William T. was very prompt in returning my calls and answering any of my questions. The Fountain Valley location was a bit lagging in this aspect although they were just as friendly when giving us a tour. I highly encourage checking Codeninjas location in person to get a feel of the environment. Though I'm glad to stumble on this location last minute via Yelp and here I am reviewing it lol. I love love that there are extra clubs/camps offered as well to explore my son's interest. Again, one of the main factors in deciding on this location is William T. (Owner) thorough explanation and prompt response. Scheduling or dealing with missed classes has never been an issue. Highly recommend bringing little kiddos here. My youngest son has joined his older brother this year. He was very shy and needed to learn his ABC's. He now knows his ABC's in English and Spanish, counts to 100, knows how to write is name and he has come out of his shell. He has joined PMA with his brother. I'm so grateful for all the coaches. He is always encouraging and supportive, and you can tell he genuinely wants every child to do well. There were even times when I forgot to bring my child to class, and Mr. K would personally text me to remind me to pick up the homework so my child wouldn't fall behind. That level of care and attention really shows how much he is invested in his students. With his support, my child was able to reach G by 4th grade, which we are very proud of. We have seen a big improvement not only in math skills but also in confidence and discipline. I highly recommend Kumon Fountain Valley to any parents who want a structured program with a teacher who truly cares about their child's progress.

I am writing this review to help other parents. I would not recommend this place. I signed my child…read moreup in the hopes that their math would improve. When i signed up, Mr. K told me how great his program was and a bunch of success stories and how my child would be caught up within a few months. He also said how other Kumon's in the area were inferior and how he's the best. He also quoted one price and then upped the price once it was time to pay. The entire time we were there my child did double the work to catch up. But when we were still behind and I questioned this, he responded by saying he never said we'd be caught up by then. That is untrue. He then extended the time needed to catch up. He then had my child repeat entire levels multiple times and said it was necessary. I felt horrible having to put my child through that as it was daunting and unnecessary. When I realized what was happening and I mentioned it he made up some excuses and said if he had given the test more of course my child would have passed. He got upset when I finally started asking questions. He also said other Kumons' hold kids back to make more money. He also refused to show me the progress report of how much my child had to repeat (he keeps a report of all repeats) it was at least 3 times and then he quickly rushed me out. My child never progressed and I spent over $1000 for six months of just doing worksheets that I had to grade. And if I made a mistake he reprimanded me. In retrospect, I realize he made excuses for everything and when I questioned him he would turn it around on me. My child is now doing workbooks at home and is thriving and has progressed much much faster and is proficient under my care. We also did free online flash cards that really helped. The program is only worksheets that you as a parent have to grade. I would stay away from his business. I don't understand how he is so busy being able to open another store on beach and Adam's.
