Absolutely terrible service customer service. I came in with my serger to have it looked at, the stitch seemed off, and they immediately tried to upsell me into buying another machine. They never even examined mine, just said it would be $200 to tune it up and that I should "just buy a new one." It honestly felt to me, in my opinion, the prices were set high to maintenance the machine to push customers into purchasing new machines instead of repairing what they already have. When I said I only wanted mine looked at because I can't afford a new one, the tone was rude and dismissive. Then they quoted an outrageous amount of time just to take a look at it. My husband and I were shocked by how we were treated. Upselling and pressuring customers into buying something is not the kind of business I want to support, and they won't be getting our business again. read more

Since moving to Orange County, I have bought all of my sewing machines from OC Sewing and Vacuum. The customer service and sewing machine maintenance has been outstanding. I have taken several classes here which have been great, the instructors very knowledgeable. I can call the owner to ask questions and he will give me his expert answer or find out the answers for me. I couldn't see going anywhere else. My Dyson was under warranty and when I called, I was referred to this location. So glad they did...much more personable than going to Sears. (Another location you can opt to get it fixed at.) Very knowledgeable staff and they fixed it in 2 days...and kept it for 2 more after that because I couldn't pick him up any sooner. They also sell embroidery machines and sewing machines, as well as all the fixings that come with sewing machines. IE: Thread, needles, paper backing for the embroidery, etc. I was also told they would teach me how to use the machine if I bought it from them. I came here to get my vacuum cleaner fixed. I went on their yelp page beforehand and saw their COVID-19 safety precautions listed. It's stated that all their employees wear masks and sanitize in between customers. When I went in to drop off my vacuum all the customers had masks on but NOT ONE of the four employees I saw I had a mask on. I didn't really see any of their safety precautions listed happening. Upon my return to pick up the vacuum. Only one of their employees had a mask on this time. Don't specifically list that you follow these precautions, if you do not. It is totally inappropriate not to have the workers wear a mask. read more

Last year around December I purchased a vacuum from them. They are the best deal around, they had the vacuum in stock and they offered the first annual service for free. I brought it in this last week for the service. They were friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I would totally recommend them. I drive all the way from Menifee area to go to them. You have no idea how many stores I called to and they wanted to charge markups and all kinds of stuff and those other stores didn't even have the vacuum I wanted in stock. My mom has a serger that is constantly giving her problems. It is hard for her to change the thread and she has issues with adjusting the tension sometimes. Anyway we were running some errands together, and one was to have her machine checked out because it was acting stupid again. So we took it in and had them look at it. They ran our fabric scrap through it and adjusted it, noticed that ther was a tiny burr on one of the piece. they fixed that right away. got the machine working perfect with the tricky fabric reminded her that they had lessons that she could take there to show her how to use her machine better. Bonus that she had previously taken it but could take it again. Super bonus this was all free because she had purchased her machine there. Everybody is always really helpful and kind. read more

I took my Viking Designer II machine in for a long needed service. I was helped by a gentlemen who took a look at it and quoted me $99 for the service and $29.99 for the push button pad part. I got the feeling in speaking with him that my machine was on its last leg and I should trade it in for a new machine. I should have been given a written estimate for parts and labor. Upon picking it up I was told the button pad part was $45. I replied that I was told it was $29 and he said the technician who serviced it wrote $45 so therefore that's the charge. I replied it was you who told me $29.99 and he said he didn't remember saying that. In this economy a customer should be treated with respect no matter if they are getting a service or making a new purchase. I guess for $15 he was not interested in keeping my business. Their prices are fair and all the employees I've interacted with really care about the products they service and ensure that you're receiving service. This place is horrible. Took our sewing machine in for a repair, machine made a funny noise. They mentioned they would call us to let us know what the issue was. They finally called to let us know it was ready for pick up! We were confused because the never received a call letting us know of the issue. Went in to pick up machine they gladly charged us $50. We went home excited to use the machine, when using it we were disappointed to hear the same noise! They didn't do anything to this machine, we are out $50. Please find elsewhere to go. read more

I have two sewing machines, a new electronic Brother and a 1951 Singer slant needle. I had them both serviced here and they were prompt and friendly. They guarantee their service work for ONE YEAR. I came in today for a basic serger class knowing zip about my machine. I left a couple hours later knowing how to thread all four spools, the correct order, and the start of several types of stitches. The instructor, Dawn, was super nice and extremely patient. Didn't make me feel dumb even though I repeated the same mistakes multiple times. Thank you Dawn- I will build on what you taught me! I dropped off my old sewing machine and serger at OC Sewing and Vacuuming location at a Joann's in Cypress about a month ago. A week later, i got a call to pick it my machines but my sewing machine was missing its accessory tray. I complained and asked where my accessory tray was and I was told that they had given it to me when I turned in my machine to get fixed. Excuse me what??? That was the first I had heard of that policy but I bit my tongue and listened to the woman helping me. She told me I probbaly just forgot and should go home and check. I already knew I didn't have it because it was still on my machine when I left it with them. Long story short, after poor customer service between the Joann's OC Sew and Vac team, I finally let them have a piece of my mind and they told me to come to this location in Garden Grove and they'll give me the accessory tray. I was honestly dreading it, because of my poor experience with the Joann's team and seeing the bad reviews here on Yelp, but it was actually quick and painless! Russ saw me walking into the store, and immediately helped me. Put on the accessory tray and threw on a light cover I was missing from my machine previously. He said he was waiting for me to drop by 2 weeks ago (the ladies didn't tell me this). He let me go but I insisted on paying for the light cover, which was only $5. Russ was competent and very friendly!! Next time I'd save myself the trouble and come straight here instead of working with a middle man. read more

This is a major praise for the Viking Dealership in Garden Grove. They are the best! When you need help they are often able to troubleshoot with you over the phone and for me it has worked out verse always having to bring my machine into the shop. When I have brought my machine into the shop for evaluation they are able to tell me on the spot if they can fix it immediately or it might take a day or two. I have always gotten my machine back in 24 hours and that is a HUGE plus when dealing with any company. Joe is the owner and great to work with, Art and Russ are two of the repair men and VERY knowledgeable and worth their weight in gold! You guys are the best! Keep up the great job! I was unhappy with the repair work done on my Babylock serger. I paid $179 for the work but had to return the machine twice; after the second return, I took it to another sewing machine shop -- one that carried Babylocks-- and after paying $150, the machine now works perfectly. Although Art, the technician in GardenGrove, was very nice, he was not expert. He repaired two malfunctions correctly but the beautiful Babylock stitch I was used to had been replaced by irregular, loose stitches; he insisted that the stitches were perfect and the way they were supposed to be. The second shop was able to re-adjust the stitches and cautioned me to take my machine only to stores that carried Babylocks. I will take their advice. read more

Superb, competent old-school sewing machine service! I own two well-loved Bernina vintage machines. I thought one was on its last legs, but I brought it into the guys at OC Sewing and she's running like new! This is after a very bad experience at Mel's where the guy treated me with condescension and outright rudeness. Without even opening my machine, he was sure it was irreparable and would need parts he "couldn't get." I walked out, drove over to OC Sewing, and within 24 hours had my machine back, running smoothly. Purring, even. I also had them service my second vintage Bernina, as well as my newer computerized Bernina. And for half the price of a basic service at Mel's! I've always been a Bernina sewist, but I'll switch to Viking when I buy my next machine--from OC Sewing. read more

I recently had an issue with an old Eureka vacuum cleaner that I kept as a backup. One of the belts was broken and I had difficulty finding one online. Fortunately I received a mailer with advertising for OC Sewing. I called and they suggested changing everything and cleaning up the machine for what I thought was a good price. I brought it in and they were extremely friendly and appeared knowledgeable with the model I had. I left it and to my surprise they called me the next day and told me it was ready for pickup. I brought it home and it runs like new. They did a great job in a very quick manner and if you have any issues with your vacuum cleaner I would definitely suggest letting them look at it. read more
