We especially loved the model Christmas villages room and the room of unique Christmas trees. The mini Christmas villages were so intricate and detailed and it was a massive collection. The artistic Christmas trees were creative and unique - I especially loved the national parks Christmas tree! Next to the last activity which is the Christmas trees collection, there is a fire pit in which you are given sticks and a s'mores kit. A perfect way to end the day! Highly recommend coming here for the Christmas event and will be sure to come back and see the gardens when it's back in season (no snow). My only critique is that for the last day it closed at 4pm which didn't give us time to see the lights at night decorations.

I honestly assumed it would be outside of our budget, but after touring multiple venues, I quickly realized that Gibbet Hill was right on par in price--and incredibly willing to work with any budget. Nothing else compared. Nothing checked all the boxes the way The Barn did. Shoutout Bree--our coordinator, planner, event manager, director of sales, and overall wedding miracle worker. She is FANTASTIC, and I cannot speak highly enough of her. From our very first phone call, she walked me through every option, every detail, every add‑on--with endless patience. I had quite a bit of anxiety around planning, especially since we didn't start until about seven months before the big day, but she made the entire experience seamless. With 300+ weddings under her belt, she knew exactly how to guide us. She helped us design our menu, advised us on where to splurge or save, coordinated the timeline with all our vendors, and even bustled my dress. She made sure we had a quiet 15‑minute moment together after the ceremony--just us, taking it all in with appetizers. She went above and beyond in every single way to make our day easy, special, and absolutely stress‑free. We LOVED working with her. The Space: The barn itself is stunning--warm, elegant, and adaptable. It's spacious enough for a 200‑person celebration yet intimate enough for smaller weddings. We had 75 guests, and the way they set up and decorated the room made it feel breathtakingly beautiful. The Food: OUT. FREAKING. STANDING. Our guests are still talking about it six months later. We chose family‑style dining, and it was such a fun, interactive experience--everyone loved getting to try everything rather than choosing just one entrée. The steak, the fish, the mushroom cream tortellini (incredible!), the broccolini, the mashed potatoes--everything was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. I would recommend the family‑style option a thousand times over. The Staff: Every single person--from the waitstaff to the bartenders to the behind‑the‑scenes team--was phenomenal. A special shoutout to Shannon, our dedicated server for the night. She kept our drinks topped off, reminded me to switch into comfortable shoes, and made sure we were having the best day of our lives. No biggie. Replies were slow, and the person I was in contact with wasn't very open. I first contacted (I'll call him "Kal") at the end of March. He said he could only show the place on Sundays. My fiance works Sundays and can not get that day off... but after a few e-mails we decided that Sunday at 1 would be fine. We now needed to pick a Sunday. We picked one, which turned out to be Easter day (we could make it but Kal couldn't: totally understandable) but we kept going back and forth saying "that Sunday won't work for me" or "I can't do that Sunday", etc... Fine. I get it. People can be busy and we have a lot of time to plan this thing out: no hurry, no worries. Then one day I get an e-mail from Kal: "Unfortunately I am not available any of the dates that you have listed. we have reached our quota of rentals for this year, so rentals are closed for 2017. As a result I am not scheduling special appointments to show the lodge. I know you are looking for next year. We will not be reserving any dates or booking events for next year until January of 2018." Now, I don't know about you guys, but to me, that means "screw you, we already have made enough money with booking so we're not going to put in the effort to even show you the place." My fiance and I just wanted to see the place: that's all. Not have any booking or anything, just SEE IT. I sent an e-mail back (on April 11th) explaining that to Kal, but now it's May 6th and still no reply from Kal. As far as I know, this place just wants your money and that's it. My advise to anyone thinking about going to this place is... just don't bother. It was a waste of my time and it might be a waste of yours. Possibly the best prize for labeling as many species as possible. So many gardens do not provide good and legible labels on their plants, trees, bushes, ferns, and flowers. This was joyfully, thoroughly well-labeled. As was the path itself on the loop trail. There is an additional outer trail you could take if you're channeling your inner Thoreau but we stuck with the anti-Frost and took the road more traveled. Stay on the path. Recommendations say you can walk the loop in 30mins. You probably could. But we found plenty to keep us oohing and aahing for 90 mins! Turtles, frogs, dragonflies, butterflies, and some fab funghi in the lily pond. Unique and colorful small flowers every which way. The trail has mostly small inclines here and there, but the hike at the end to return to the visitor center is a bit huffy puffy. While there were beautifully carved benches throughout other parts of the loop, there were no benches on this steepest part and there really should be at least one halfway up the hill. Take your time. Wear proper shoes, bring a water bottle. Small parking lot. Bonus gift shop, plant shop, and proper rest rooms.

I feel the pricing is fair, the only weird thing is that you're timed out after 12 ounces of wine. I find that strange as the standard pour of wine is 5 ounces so this is just slightly above two glasses. The food menu is small but the charcuterie and desserts that we saw seemed great! Definitely a good addition to the Maynard area!
