They were so kind, as we said goodbye to our tiny boy that we had bottle fed and raised from birth. The in house diagnostics are great. We didn't have to wait long at all for the test results. The 2nd time, we brought in our elderly girl. She was 16. When her vet turned us away when we came to tell them we were coming in (they told us "maybe tomorrow"), we headed here. She'd been sick a while, we knew it was coming. Of course, that didn't make it any easier. The staff here was absolutely wonderful. As soon as we walked in, they took us out of the lobby so we wouldn't have to sit with all the happy/healthy animals. They didn't question us, they saw her and told us we were making the right choice. They brought her a soft cat bed to lay in. They gave us all the time we needed to hold her and love her, until we were ready. No pressure. Then they allowed my 16 year old daughter to hold her beloved girl until she was gone. We were allowed more time with her. Then they gave us each a vile of her beautiful fur. We weren't rushed. We did everything on our terms/time. And our girl left this world surrounded in love. Let me start by saying that I've been going to Pets Referral center for over 20 years now and have…read morespent close to $30,000 in that amount of time at their Emergency center because they are 100% worth it and I have Never had a problem with any of the doctors that we've seen there. My issue is with Dr.Kim Shaffer in Oncology at their specialty building. I was referred by my cat's doctor. As soon as she walked in the room I noticed that her demeanor seemed like she was irritated. Right off the bat She would barely let me get a word in trying to explain my Cat's complex situation before continually cutting me off. She even scolded me saying I needed to stop living in the past while I was trying to explain a timeline of how my cat's health had progressed to where we're at now. When I would ask about things to try and help my cat I was met with such hostility. I asked about cancer medication, she said none of them work. She told me there was nothing that could be done even though we don't have a definitive diagnosis that this is Cancer. I asked about palliative care as my cat's vet suggested she should be on reassuring me that Dr Shaffer would surely do that for us even sending over notes to Dr.Shaffer reiterating that. Well Dr Shaffer said she wasn't going to do any of that but would maybe only give her pain meds for me to take home to give by mouth when I told her it was hard to give by mouth since that's where the tumor is she acted like it wasn't her problem. I asked if she could give her an injection for pain instead which she's had in the past and she said No that wouldn't work, and that I should probably then euthanize my cat. I said she's still running around playing and eating and she snapped at me and said she's not eating! She's lost weight so she's not eating, insinuating that I'm lying to her. Everytime I turned around I was met with resistance in such a disrespectful manner and tone so I finally said to her why are you speaking to me so rudely i'm just just trying to help my cat by asking questions and why do you have such a lack of bedside manner towards me right now? I told her I was shocked by her behavior. what had I done to her to make her have this attitude towards me the minute she walked in the room and she said you just don't want to accept what I have to say which was not the case at all, I know that we're in a dire situation. It was her lack of Empathy and unwillingness to even give an inch to help my pet in any capacity while also being combative towards me, that was the problem. As a last effort I asked if we could at least run some bloodwork while we're there so I could get an idea of what my cats numbers looked like so I could make more informed decisions and she again said No! Bloodwork won't show anything. At that point I was so frustrated and I said this has been a complete waste of time and your refusal to help us with anything is unbelievable to me and then she said we're done here and I said yes we are and I said why would you waste our time if you're not even willing to do the bare minimum to help us navigate this. She then said I'm not going to take this verbal abuse and told me to leave the building! I've never been kicked out of anywhere in my 55 years on this earth. I said I'm just trying to be an advocate for my cat and I'm trying to understand why I'm being met with such hostility every step of the way and she then said I'm not giving your cat any pain medication now you'll have to go find it somewhere else. I mean, that is so INHUMANE to take it out on a helpless animal who's been waiting for this appointment for so long and not to mention UNETHICAL!!!! if you knew you weren't going to help us at all with even palliative care, then why would you even have us come in? She had all of our records weeks ahead of time to call us and let us know that. I had to sedate my cat and withhold food for 10 hours for nothing. I am still in shock over all of this as I'm sitting here watching my cat in pain. I've never had a doctor treat me like this and then act as if I'm the problem. I guess expressing discontent about the way someone is treating you constitutes as verbal abuse to her? So now my cat is still suffering and we have to try and find another Oncologist which is going to take so long. I'm just so disheartened. I've seen another oncologist here two years ago for one of our other cats that was given two months to live, and that Doctor was so helpful at making him as comfortable as possible giving us pain meds, anti-inflammatories, appetite stimulants, steroids, breathing treatments you name it and my cat actually lived another six months! That kind of caring made all the difference in the world. Unfortunately that doctor no longer works here. To treat someone the way this Doctor has treated me and to withhold treatment from my cat when we're at our lowest point right now with trying to navigate this difficult time is incomprehensible and completely Unacceptable.

I would give this place 5 stars. However, when I came in for my cat's yearly checkup in 2024, Dr. Sirkis had started the appointment accusing me of not caring for my cat's pain and was not willing to hear anything edgewise related to my cat's medical history once she had formed that opinion. When she found the mass in my cat's throat, her tone changed from rude to just plain awkward. "Oo... *wince* He has cancer." As I started to ask about his prognosis while crying and hyperventilating, she gives me a "Yea... Sorry" and "Well, when do you want to schedule the euthanasia?" I was shell shocked that someone who was supposedly regularly interacting with patients would so callously bring up putting down my child. I responded that I would make an appointment with an oncologist (who was infinitely more patient and sympathetic, shout out Dr. Kidd!), and she responded with "Well, if you want to go see someone who's going to say exactly the same thing I did, sure." After the appointment, I double checked with the nurse who came out with my cat to make sure there was truly nothing to be done. In contrast, she was super gentle and sympathetic, and she let me have a good cry. She was a real one for helping me keep it together. Later, when Dr. Sirkis called me with my biopsy results, she continuously brought up euthanasia over and over again. Nothing about keeping my cat comfortable or how long I might get to keep him around. Just "euthanasia" "when do you want to euthanize" "euthanizing would be..." It was cruel and heart wrenching. I asked her to stop talking about euthanasia and to never contact me again. She still sent me a generically printed get well card, rub a little more salt in the wound I guess. The issue is not that she wants me to consider euthanasia. It's that she was heartless and cruel in her demeanor. She was the person I was supposed to depend on during this process, and instead, she made the grieving process even more isolating and emotionally taxing. I felt uncomfortable even having to contact the hospital for more pain meds just in case I would have to talk to her again (in which, even though she knew my cat was in pain, would insist on only giving me a few days dose worth, so I would have to continuously make trips for more medicine, even though the oncologist was perfectly fine giving me a week or two's worth). I literally waited until only now to post this review because I finally moved and don't have to fear the possibility of this horrid shell of a person potentially taking out her displeasure on my other cat during an appointment. She's a terrible person, and since she was so willing to kick me down when I was low, I will say that her last name is perfectly fitting for a clown like her.

Dr. Bane's exam (March 2021) was comprehensive and well-beyond helpful. She noted that he had an undescended testicle (totally missed by the staff at a local corporately owned vet hospital, and by me), and spent lots of time offering much needed guidance about his diet -- including offering me a basic recipe that greatly improved upon his home-cooked meals and analyzing what vitamins and minerals should be added to make them optimal. Since I also feed him Carna4 kibble, she went over those ingredients thoroughly as well. As is common with doodles, my pup has a somewhat sensitive gut and itchy skin. When Animal Biome sent a detailed report on his microbiome, Dr. Bane spent half an hour of her own time (no charge to me) consulting with their microbiologist, and then spent lots of time (at a very reasonable cost) going over their report with me and making recommendations. She's been wonderfully accessible and thoughtful whenever I've needed guidance -- most recently about a minimally invasive approach to his cryptorchid neutering and gastropexy, and in a short time I've come to trust her completely. I'm very thankful we found our way to All Paws and especially to Dr. Bane!

Mer did NOT want to be in a carrier, his stress and anxiety levels were running high. Having the ability transition him in the comfort of our home was, for all of us, perfect on many levels. I called the clinic, explained what I what I wanted to do and they had me reach out to Dr. Grant via email. He was responsive, communicated all the pertinent details to me and we scheduled a date. My husband and I have "graduated" many furbabies in our lives so we are not strangers to the process, but when the day came, Dr. Grant arrived and went over the procedure one more time to make sure I would be at ease. He did not rush and Mer moved on peacefully. We still have four dogs who will eventually need help in moving on. It gives me great comfort to know I can reach out to Dr. Grant when it is their time.

Their prices are extremely high, to the point where I'm not sure I would return unless it was an emergency. I recently brought my pet in, and while their recommendations seemed reasonable, the cost was extremely expensive. Because of that, I decided to get a second opinion. The second clinic had a very different approach and offered several other treatment options that were much more reasonable. When I explained what the first clinic had recommended, I was told that unfortunately, some clinics can become more focused on how much revenue is being brought into the business rather than exploring all of the available options for the pet. I really liked the staff here and appreciated how friendly and knowledgeable they were. I just wish the pricing and treatment recommendations felt more focused on providing pet owners with different options instead of immediately going toward the most expensive approach.
