I just love stopping at this place when in Watervliet. Great atmosphere, tasty wine. It's nestled Among farm fields, flowers, and a hill filled with grapevines sloping up the back. Plenty of seating indoor and out, in sun or in shade. If you're able, it is worth making up the hill to get a view of the vineyard and the area. I purchased a flight- my favorites were the Gruber Veltliner and the Rose, with the Heritage Red a close third. I think the knock most people have against wine from this part of the country is that they run sweet, but tha was not true for any I sampled. My niece is a huge fan of the sangria and brings it home by the bottle. My sister-in-law is a huge fan of the frozen rose drink. The staff is super helpful at choosing wines and was very kind about helping me carry things and maneuver around as I am using a knee scooter. This is one of the nicest wineries in the area. I did not find any wine that I loved, but I am sure others will. I tried the sangria, sweet melissa, ambrosia, concord jack and feeling gru-v. Very friendly staff, and they have sausage and cheese that you can buy in the fridge. read more

Moonrise is set in the country side that is slightly off the highway. The building seems fairly new, nicely decorated and very welcoming. The outside seating was comfortable and geared to help you enjoy the outside in all sorts of weather. This winery is rather small. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Upon arrival you order your fight samples at the bar and take them to your seat. This model is different from the normal stand at the bar and taste with an expert server. However...it works for Moonrise. Moonrise had a nice selection of dry reds. Though they don't have a wide variety of wines to choose from. read more

There are very few wineries in SW Michigan that can produce drinkable wine from French varietals. Vintner here knows what he is doing, and makes the best of his terroir. Would be nicer if they had more selection for eats in the tasting room. read more

Good place to spend an afternoon with friends after picking some fruit in the Coloma MI. Area Have stopped at Moonrise the last 3 years when we have picked peaches and apples. Got a flight of wines ranging anywhere from light and fruity to robust oaky reds. Not uppity like some wineries can get. They have a nice pavilion to enjoy the outdoors if the weather is good. read more

A new winery for us to check out. What a lovely location. The dry reds we tried were very good. I loved sitting outside on their large patio to enjoy the wines and the view. All Covid rules were followed by staff and the customers. Looking forward to opening the bottle of cab franc we purchased. We can't wait to return. read more

I hope I don't sound too terrible by saying this but the I think making wine in your basement from a kit would probably be better. The Sweet Concord wine was even disappointing for what it was. I understand they are fairly new but they need a new winemaker. At this time I wouldn't recommend it. I hope they improve in the future. Tastings are $10, at most it should be $5, free if you buy a bottle. read more

Moonrise is our favorite winery in southwest Michigan! Our favorites are the reds, especially the Cab Sauv and Cab Franc. Others like the wine slush are delicious on a warm summer afternoon. But the best part are Tom and Karen, the Uber friendly hosts who make you feel right at home. Arrived and were surprised at the $10 tasting fee, although some are charging $10, they're well established and offer wines and additional items that justify the cost. The wines are decent but not over the top. The glasses had an odor from bring stored upside down and the owner noted they should store them right side up. The service and was mediocre due to the number of guests mid-afternoon. The wine-tender was friendly and friendlier after the crowd thinned out.
