Finding my way in the more rural areas of our fine state for work - and literally driving there and my meetings on an empty stomach - I found Cody's on the recommendation of a Yelp bro & stopped for a late lunch / early dinner before heading back to the 305. The decor is classic 50s roadside diner with old license plates on the wall, an old pickup truck outside and a TV on ESPN by my table. The menu is classic Americana / diner fare with a southern touch. I'd been on an empty stomach through my 3 hour drive and meetings, so by the time I sat down to eat, I almost would have even eaten the paper the menu was written on :) Since it was a little bit on the chilly side, I started with their hearty cup of baked potato soup, deliciously loaded with cheese & bacon bits in a stew. Their warm, buttery and fluffy rolls topped with cinnamon butter were worth every single gram of carbs and almost functioned as a dessert themselves. Then came my yummy main dish, a roasted half chicken with just the right amount of skin and garnished with a smoky barbecue sauce. It was a sizable bird, taking up a nice bit of plate real estate, though leaving just enough room for a warm and topped with butter sweet potato. Needless to say, I still had room for dessert, and enjoyed their Keylime pie. Mal, my waitress, was very pleasant and I didn't have to wait for soda refills. Plating was also on time. We rarely get to go to new restaurants anymore living where we live. We had to go to Sebring so we branched out. Saw Cody's advertisement and decided to give them a try. So glad we did. We ended ordering the steak tips. I ordered with out the mushrooms my husband had with. We were excited that it came with a delicious all you can eat salad and rolls. I usually do not take seconds of salads but the garlic ranch dressing was delicious. The food came out and we were again very pleasantly surprised! Our waitress was extremely kind and kept checking on us. The restaurant has a very country cozy feel....we most definitely will be back again!! read more

It's a dive. Opens at 3pm daily. At 3:05 the bar area is packed with drunks. It's the local hangout for old farts. Food is not good, I've been there a few times. They claim to offer early bird dinner specials, but that's a lie too. They up charge you for everything. The staff is terrible, looking to get the most gratuity for the least effort. came here a few months ago and got a steak (rare). i got a medium steak along with a piece of wet plastic wrap in the middle of it, was told it would be taken off the check because i lost my appetite and i got the check back, i still paid for the steak. it was never taken off. came here again today to give it 1 more chance. came in at 3pm on the dot. my boyfriend and i ordered queso and chips. the queso was COLD and the chips were stale with absolutely no salt on them. i ordered from the early bird menu (bbq pulled pork sliders with broccoli on the side) my bbq sliders had no bbq sauce on them and i didn't get any on the side. they were pretty dry. the broccoli was good, but could've used some seasoning. my boyfriend got a coke to drink. Rosa, our server today, refilled his coke with sweet tea for some reason. after we were done eating, i ordered the chocolate cake with ice cream for dessert. the chocolate cake was almost frozen and it was the driest thing i've ever eaten. felt like i put a spoonful of dirt in my mouth. after we were done eating, we were looking for our server to give us the check. she came back to our table almost 20 minutes later asking "i can take the payment when you're ready" but never gave us the check, we had to ask for it after she said she can take our payment. along with the horrible food and service, the decor looks like pure clutter. there are some things that look pretty cool but the amount of decor gets to a point where it's too much. if you want steak, go to outback across the street. save your time and money. read more

Always enjoy dining at Cody's Roadhouse. Without doubt one of the finest prime rib houses in the area. Tonight I was initially dissatisfied with the prime rib, it was almost impossible to cut and was extremely tough. The manager brought another and it was not any better. Very unusual for Cody's. She left and got a different piece of prime rib and had the chef heat it up, this cut was what one expects prime rib at Cosy's to be. Tasteful and tender. Our server Pedro was very attentive and personable. He and the manager made our evening. The other meals order were excellent. You could tell she really enjoys her job Update - made the mistake of returning on Veteran's Day. The place was a zoo. Sat at the bar as usual and it was a filthy mess that they didn't have the time to clean up. We were served beer in hot glasses right out of the dishwasher. Me and a party of 5 (6 people total) went out for some drinks and dinner together. everyone except for one member got alcoholic drinks (everyone over the age of 21) , everyone presented ID's. Our server, Rosa, looked at my ID (a permit, of which i am 14 in the picture. the permit is a valid florida license/Identification that states "Under 21 under February 9th 2024" and the ID doesn't not expire until 2027) she asked if she could show her manager my ID to be sure. i said of course, and i explained how i'm not going to spend $60 at the dmv to replace an ID that scans and doesn't expire for another year. I use this ID everywhere, no issues. The manger comes over and looks at my id, does basic math (i'm born in 2003 , just subtract 3 from the current year and what number do you get?) the manager says exactly "alright, i'll let her know." after about 5 minutes of waiting, the OWNER comes to the table. proceeds to ask to see my ID. i hand it to him and he proceeds to tell me that he "cannot serve to me , or he'll lose his liquor license, because my ID says 'under 21'". I explain that it says under 21 UNTIL 2024. it is 2026. he express that "it doesn't matter that is says Until '24, because it says 'Under 21', he cannot sell to me." he asked if i had another ID. I said i do, but it is expired. as well as different last name due to a name change a couple years ago. but i presented it since it has an updated picture of me. It is a military issued ID from the Navy in Virginia Beach Oceana Base. it has my birthdate on it. he declines, and redirects me back to the permit saying "under 21". which is complete BS because another member at my table used his permit as Identification, and as served his alcohol! What does cody's do when people go to their establishment for their 21st birthday but didn't go to the DMV to IMMEDIATELY update their license? Absolutely ridiculous! I attempted to ignore this, but this ruined everyone's night, and resulted in everyone boxing their food once they finally received it, and leave. And the waitress, after causing a scene with the owner over my valid ID, while i'm visibly upset, asked me if "any other bars had ever let me get a drink with that ID" to which i replied "yes!! i use that thing EVERYWHERE! it's my ID!" Horrible. And i've been trying to get in contact with corporate since. because if they declined because they thought i was using a fake ID, then they failed protocols to call the police and have it investigated. absolutely egregious behavior on the owners behalf. read more

But you have to get there early this place fills up quickly . The prices are border line , tad bit overpriced. But for the flavor I guess it's worth it . We've been to many restaurants in Sebring. This is by far our favorite. Relaxed down-home atmosphere. Overall best service and food in the area, especially for the price. The owners often greet us and make sure we're happy. Dollar for dollar the best we've found. Much better than some of the much more expensive restaurants. read more

Cody's roadhouse has gone above and beyond. they stopped issuing peanuts that made the floor unbearable and crunchy. This was a positive since I was making a food criticism about their place. Our waitresses name was KIARA. My companion ordered a patty melt and a loaded baked potato. Specifically a sweet potato. Most places have a standard Idaho potato with the general toppings if loaded, Cody's will offer you an option between the sweet potato that's loaded and an Idaho potato that's loaded. The loaded sweet potato, uses cinnamon butter and marshmallows along with other toppings. I was impressed with this option. This was a surprising change from steak houses and other restaurants. My companions patty melt was above expectation and its thickness as well as quality. Instead of using a standard white bread, they used either a rye or wheat bread, smothered and cheese a half pound of meat for the patty melt a choice of cheeses and more than one slice. the patty melt abundant and filling. I always typically go for a T-bone, bone-in. This is a particularly difficult cut of meat because when cooked w/ bone in you have to consider cook time and also with a T-bone the bone in the center. I ordered medium rare to challenge the cook. Unfortunately, the cook was not up to par. knowing how to cook a proper T-bone. A T-bone means you have to be aware that the bone takes longer to cook than the meat. What I received was a steak where the outside area of the T-bone was, well done/med rare, mid range of the meat was medium rare, & the center was raw closest to the bone. The cook failed & was not able to know how to cook a T-bone. I recommend next time the cook use tongs or a very small skillet to curve up the meat on the out side and requires a sense of technique in order to complete. I also ordered the sweet potato. We also ordered a appetizer. Standard chips and queso. We were NOT disappointed. We ordered a BROWNIES SUNDAE FOR DESSERT. WE were very pleased with the quality of the cake. It was moist, not dry and had a very flavorful taste very chocolatey. The ice cream was vanilla , and it came with two scoops. The CHOCOLATE & caramel sauces were very good and met expectations! Regarding service: Kiara receives 100%/ 5 stars for quality service. I don't know if she was aware that I was a food critic or if she simply handles all of her guests this way, but she went out of her way to make sure that our needs were met! She was excellent and she met all expectations for the best quality waitress I have ever seen. She definitely ranks in the top three waitresses I have ever had at any restaurant I would request that her cheerfulness tone down a tad. The service was great. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone passing through. It's off the main road, which is nice but there is a sign off south highway 72 seen next to Harbor freight. If they continue this quality of service, I would recommend the restaurant. But I would recommend a bone-out steak, such as a New York strip or any other cut that has the bone at the end. This needs to be improved and this is some thing that the cooks need to work on that is the only criticism I can make but since the steak is the star of the dish at $27 it is imperative they get this correct before they continue to serve this quality cut of meat. They deserve five stars, but unfortunately, unfortunately, because the meat was not cooked properly. I can only give four stars this time. I hope next time that I am in there that I will be able to give five stars. read more

This is my favorite restaurant to stop at when passing through Sebring. Have been 50+ times. Great service, clean restaurant & really good food. Prime rib is consistently great, even for my picky husband. I always enjoy the French onion soup (crispy onion strings on top-yum) with bottomless salad. Sometimes there is a wait for a table with good reason. But have always been able to find a seat at the bar where I never need or have to ask for attention. Two managers were on staff last night, visible and checking on patrons. The bus boy is even on point! Not a dirty table in sight. Steaming hot rolls with cinnamon butter is a MUST! read more

Easily the best casual Family Steakhouse in Highland's County! They are a long time Central Florida chain with about eleven locations. Popularity- Busy when the snowbirds are gone and gets crazy when they are in town. They open early on Sunday (11 am) and I was waiting by the door with twenty other hungry folks. By noon, there were easily 100 folks happily dining. Pro Tip- They have call-ahead seating. Atmosphere- You know the deal; western kitsch and lots of wood. There is a restaurant side and a walled-off bar side. The restaurant side has some big tables and can get noisy. Pro Tip- If you are a single or a couple, ask for the bar side and it will be much quieter. Be sure to send me a message on Yelp and thank me! Adult Libations- Full bar with a big plus! They are two-for-one on virtually all drinks except top shelf, every day from opening until 7 pm! My two House Margaritas were ice-cold, a little tart, and the proper strength so I was content. Customer Service- I've eaten here many times and rarely had a problem. It seems they understaff the bar a little so sometimes there is a bit of a wait for drinks. My servers have always been friendly. Food- All entrees come with endless hot yeast rolls with cinnamon butter, a bowl of bottomless salad with garlic ranch dressing and one side. Pro Tip- Most folks are not aware that if you ask, they will happily substitute another salad dressing. They have seafood, pork, and other entrees but I'm focusing on the steaks today. All the usual steaks are offered. If you are a steak aficionado, you are generally going to get "Choice" graded steaks here which is to be expected. "Prime" grade is generally in fine-dining steakhouses. My 9 Oz Filet was cooked as I requested. There were plenty of grill marks but not the "sear" that you get in fine dining. It was reasonably tender and flavorful as was expected for a "Choice" cut. Pricing- My meal with my 2 Margs and tax was $32. For the size and type of steak, all the fixings, and two drinks, that's not bad at all! I need to drive quite a way for a fine-dining steakhouse.
