Famous sirloin steak, very delicious and soft
    Chingolo C.

Had lunch here and the famous steak sirloin was soft delicious and flavorful, mashed potato was delicious too , good service and very reasonable price , don't expect luxurious restaurant, but you will be grateful and happy after eating here

Potatoes, rice and corn added to each meal you order.

We've visited lots of small diners as we've traveled around the USA. They're much more fun than chain restaurants and you never know what to expect. Paul's Kitchen is off the main drag. It's what used to be a house. There's a private lot off the side and a sign in front. We parked in the back of the lot figuring we'd leave via the alley in the back. Well, be careful of that. The potholes are huge and I do mean HUGE down that alley and there are lots of those deep potholes. There were four of us for dinner. We sat for a while before we were asked about drinks. Servers weren't particularly friendly. Normally your small diners have the friendliest of servers so we were a little surprised at the cool personalities. Other than a long wait for our drink order to be taken and no offer of refills, service was okay. At our table there were orders for catfish and shrimp and also for their philly cheesesteak sandwiches. The meals came with soup, salad, potato, rice, corn and your main entree. It was quite a feast. Soup was pretty bland and salad was nothing special. However, catfish and shrimp were very good. Daily specials were handwritten and added to the menu. Unlike other small local diners, this one did accept credit and debit cards.

We like to stop at Paul's Kitchen when we travel through Wauchula. It's got lots of fried food but also a few grilled items, too. Not a fancy place, in fact a little on the old Florida funky side but for those of you who like a little of that you might want to try it. Today they had lots of specials at reasonable cost especially given the portion sizes. I ordered grilled chicken and shrimp, yellow rice and green beans. All good, but they really believe in butter. Not necessarily a bad thing, just be forewarned. My husband had chicken parmigiana on a bed (king size bed!) Of spaghetti and got enough to feed 3 people. He said it was very good. Note, the chicken was not typical; it was crispy fried chicken cutlet, but tasty. And on another trip I ordered sweet potato fries. They had some kind of flour coating on them. So I've learned to ask questions before I assume things here. The best part is enjoying the feel of a local non-chain restaurant where most of the guests seem to know each other. Oh, and for you sweet tea drinkers, they have the real thing.

Found this little place and wasn't sure what to expect. Make sure you are VERY hungry because they give you alot of food. The stuffed fish was awesome and it comes with 3 sides as well as soup & salad for less than $10. I didn't read the reviews until after i ordered and i wish i had tried their fried green tomatoes, guess I'll have to come back and try them next time;)

My boyfriend and I recently dined at Paul's Kitchen. We were in town for a friend's wedding and were looking for a local spot to eat! We found this place and it had solid reviews so we decided to check it out. We walked up and the reviews weren't kidding, it does look like a house! We actually missed it and had to turn around haha we walked inside and the decor is kind of a mish-mosh of items, but I kind of loved it to be honest. It's definitely a casual location and seems to have its regulars that all the servers knew. The waitress recommended me an item, I honestly had to pick at it. It was so heavyyyyyy. I think it was called the farmers skillet. It had gravy and gravy and more gravy. The eggs were good, but I really couldn't eat too much of it. I also never received the biscuit! I was really looking for it as a way to break up the heaviness and the waitress never stopped by during our meal for me to ask. Overall, it was a small thing but I think it would've made the meal better for me. The coffee was actually really good in my opinion! The waitress was nice, but halfway through someone else started serving us so that also got kind of confusing haha my boyfriend actually really liked his meal which is why I'm ultimately giving this location 3 stars. All in all, I wish I had ordered something different so maybe I would've liked this place more. There aren't a lot of options in this town so I would recommend this location, but feel free to look around as well!

    Souther Fried Steak

Not worth the stop. I love All-American diners and home style Southern food but this missed the mark all around. Two of my guys had the Country Fried Steak. Both said is was okay at best and the sides (rice, corn, and mashed potatoes) were not warm when served. Our teen son ordered a burger and said it tasted like McDonald's (not a compliment from him.) The biggest disappointment was the "Stuffed Grouper" special. It was a scoop of bready filling that tasted like it came from a box draped in a flavorless paper-thin slice of overcooked grouper. The fried pickles and fried green tomatoes were good but nothing special; the house salad and soup as well. No beer or wine. I'm a big city eater but love to eat down-home local just as much so this isn't a "food snob" review. Just not enough good here to ever consider stopping again.

There were a surprising number of cars in the parking lot but still plenty of open spots. After going inside, we saw all the seats at the bar packed but lots of available tables. There are at least a dozen TVs, all showing different sporting events. Numerous lively conversations took place, but the overall noise level was fine. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table. Our server appeared to take our drink order. Oddly the drinks section of the menu did not have prices, but after asking, we found them reasonable. My wife ordered the O'Brady burger with "straight" fries, my Dad got the Club sandwich with curly fries, and I got the Surf and Turf. The burger was enormous and delicious. The straight fries were on the soggy side. The club sandwich was "very good" but also a little soggy. My steak was well prepared medium rare, and I added onions to it, which were enjoyable. The eight-grilled shrimp were yummy, and my side of broccoli was delicious. My meal came with a huge side salad that I shared with my wife. Service was spot on. Our server was pleasant and took good care of us. I thought the meal prices were quite reasonable. We'll return the next time we are in town.

It has several privately owned restaurants that are solid, and this is one of them. I love a good breakfast so off I went! Arriving- These fine folks are on the outskirts of the city on Route 17 South. They are super easy to find. Depending on which way you come in, you'll be driving by citrus groves, cucumber fields and cattle ranches. If you're really lucky, you might see a bear! They are in a dilapidated plaza with no presence at all, but parking is plentiful and easy. Pro Tip- Route 17 might freak you out a little. It's a divided highway but it's divided by 1000 feet of homes and businesses! Often you can't see the other lanes! Atmosphere- There is none. It's an old building with old fixtures and furniture. There are many booths with hard, uncomfortable wooden seats with no padding. Can you say, "Butt ache!" Pro Tip- CASH ONLY so come prepared! Customer Service- Excellent! My server had worked there for 8 years and was a pro and it showed! Food- Stand southern, American menu with no surprises. I ordered a Ham & Cheese Omelet with potatoes plus coffee. It cost me $12.80 pre-tip. The coffee was hot and good. The potatoes were piping hot and not greasy. The omelet had plenty of fillings, but they were all packed in the middle with empty ends and that annoys me a little. However, it was very good, and the overall breakfast was solid. This is a hard one to rate for me. It probably should be 3.5. There are plenty of places nearby with a better atmosphere and equally solid food. I'm going with four stars because of the stellar service. Just remember to bring a pillow for your butt!

Service was pretty good, our server was very friendly and helpful, but they seemed to be pretty busy so he didn't come around too much (which we also appreciated, as it was just enough space and attention). Food was better than I expected! All of the dishes were well-cooked and flavorful, the drinks (mango margarita) were a bit strong but loved, and nothing was too salty or too bland. We started with a dozen oysters which were very fresh and slightly chewy (different from northern oysters that I usually have), then had the cod, crab cakes, and snapper, all with well-paired sauces and great sides (the snapper was slightly overcooked). Everyone got complimentary sunset shots as the sun was dipping towards the horizon, and we finished off with a giant slice of key lime pie (that we couldn't quite fit in so we took back because it was too good to waste). Overall good experience and will definitely be back to try more!

I tasted more filling than crab in my small crabcake. The veggies were cool. However, the sauce was rather tasty. My wife had a similar experience. I also ordered the Key Lime. If you've seen many of my hundreds of reviews, I love me some Key Lime. Look, I became hungry just thinking about a slice. Regrettably, this Key Lime was disappointing in taste. The rather larger crust could've been outstanding, but alas, it too was plain. My daughter enjoyed her chicken salad but didn't like the salty fries. My mother-in-law didn't believe her Snapper meal was Snapper. She said it was moist. Yet, she said it was okay. Disclaimer: The Server was great, but she was taking care of a group of 14 people. The people who came out to help her deliver the food were ok. We asked several times whether the "Catch of the Day" was the Flounder. We were repeatedly told, "No." It was. Consequently, those who ordered it also had cooler food. I believe those issues contributed to the food temperature. This place came highly recommended. In short, I wasn't pleased with paying $164 for three mediocre meals. I encourage you to try them out. I plan on taking my wife back there on August 27 to give them another chance. I'm certain it'll be much better.
