During a recent trip to Fort Lauderdale and the Oakland Park area, I found Con Calma, and they delivered on every level. Walked into a beautifully designed, spotlessly clean café. When you order, you're flanked by two display cases filled with temptation--delicious pastries on the right, and a choice of about a dozen different empanadas on the left. I'm usually not a big fan of empanadas because they're often deep-fried, greasy, and soggy. These are the complete opposite! They are perfectly baked, and the shredded beef empanada I tried was fantastic, I could have easily polished off a few more. The coffee was equally impressive and top quality.
