I've always loved this little coffee shop. Way back when, I lived in the apartments above and came down almost daily for my caffeine and pastry fix. They serve delicious coffee drinks and all of their pastries are fresh and moist and are truly the best. My favorite was always the poppyseed bread with orange glaze. For such a small local shop, I was surprised to see that they offer so mNy types of milk choices for their drinks. Coffee cat also serves a good sized menu for lunch with lots of soup, salad, wrap and sandwich choices. Free wifi, good music and a calming environment full of local art. A favorite quirk of mine is that all of their iced coffee drinks are made with coffee ice cubes! read more

I really like this coffee shop. They have lots of comfortable seating with couches and chairs. This place has a very relaxing feel to it, perfect for catching up with an old friend or taking some time away to enjoy your coffee. They also have sandwiches and such, but I haven't ordered food there. The coffee itself was pretty good. The one negative thing was when I ordered a regular coffee and the container was empty, I asked the girl behind the counter to fill it and she didn't want to. She offered to upgrade my coffee to a latte instead... I could understand this if they were about to close, but they were open for another hour and a half... Dropped in on a whim, and had the best chicken salad sandwich I've had in ages. Even the drip coffee is stellar.

Expensive for the mediocre quality and slow service. $4 for a bagel with cream cheese which wasn't gourmet or anything. I stopped in today for a latte and scone. I stopped because they were convenient on the way to work. Very expensive, not great quality. The guy who waited on me was pleasant. Coffee was fine, not great. I was told they roast their own beans, which is the reason for the pricing. The scone was absolutely terrible. Wrapped in plastic wrap, soggy, and no flavor. $4.50 for something I tossed in the garbage after 1 bite. There was little to choose from, so I went with the scone. I will never go back. Ive visited 8+ times. best cafe atmosphere in Newberg, good people working there. Unfortunately the food is very overpriced and mediocre. The issue applies to all food items, but one example is $12 for a bagel sandwich with egg and meat. The bagel is likely store bought, baked, not fresh (as stated). I ate half and threw it away, and was inspired to finally write this review. I will avoid unless they change their policies or I have no other option. read more

We live nearby but had never checked out coffee cat before last week. It has great decor and is super comfortable with lots of tables, couches, chairs and separate rooms. We ordered a kids chocolate milk (3.95), a blueberry scone (3.95), a toasted bagel with cream cheese (6) and a large passionfruit ice tea (3.95) . Our total was $17.85. Six dollars for a bagel with cream cheese is ridiculous. The bagel was barely warmed on one side and the herb cream cheese was salty. My ice tea was great but I could have gotten a much larger one for cheaper at any other coffee shop. Charging 3.95 for a kids chocolate milk is also too much. It was made with a powdered hot chocolate mix which was not completely mixed in. The scone was good but tiny and microwaved. Definitely disappointed. read more

This is a cute location and the sandwiches are pretty good. Unfortunately the coffee is just adequate and the service is slow. It is also disappointing that they do not have wifi. I went there hoping to get some work done while enjoying some coffee but had to go to Coffee Cottage instead. This place has a lot of potential if they step up their game. read more

I'll start with the good. Cool trendy place.Lots of neat vintage clothes and decorations to look at. Organic coffee. Seating in front has good natural light seating in back is comfy, cozy and relaxing. The place just oozes cool and trendy. I felt like one of the cool coffeehouse crowd just being in there. The coffees had neat creative names. Downside is the coffee wasn't that great and it was pretty expensive.I didn't try the food because I won't pay $2.95 for a cookie or $3.75 for a buttered bagel. This place definetly caters to college kids who don't know good coffee and place cool trendy environment over bang for your buck .One more good thing barista was friendly and trendy. read more

a person that likes coffee very much may appreciate this establishment more than i, but the soup i ordered was expensive and unfascinating and they charged me a dollar for a slice of wonderbread. the cinnamon bun i purchased for dessert was dreadful. i could not eat it. also, i find it peculiar that they can not keep enough employees present at lunch hour on a weekday that a person doesn't have to wait in line for ten minutes while the single clerk sweeps or something behind the scenes. they were highly fortunate that every customer didn't walk out, as i eventually did. read more

I used to come here on a regular basis, but then there was an employee changeover. When that happened all the awesome baked goods disappeared. The friendly woman working the shop was gone. She knew just how I like my coffee. The new person hasn't made an effort to get to know the regulars. My coffee is hit or miss - more often miss. If you ruin the first shot then don't serve it to your customers! The food is not even close to what it was before. I gave up waiting for the new people to improve and ventured out to try other coffee shops downtown. I was pleasantly surprised to find my favorite barista now working at Coffee Cottage! This was always my favorite coffee shop to come study, considering the great nooks to get away and focus as well as the great lavender white mocha and huge cinnamon rools. I came here today and was disappointed that they had no cinnamon rolls. I settled with a muffin, and my husband ordered an iced mocha. After paying, we noticed a small paper saying no wifi. I was beyond frustrated. We came here solely to study with my laptop in hand. Why did they not mention there was no wifi?! When my husbands coffee was ready, the order was wrong. I've given this place chance after chance after chance and I think I'm officially done. I work in the area and sometimes stop by for a cup of coffee and a bagel. I stopped getting the hot latte drinks because they are served lukewarm, at best. When I switched to house coffee, I found grounds in the cup on multiple occasions - so many that it wasn't drinkable. The bagels are, again, lukewarm at best, far from toasted. And the kicker for me: I shouldn't have to wait 10+ minutes to receive my order, especially when there is no line. This has been my experience on multiple visits, never any better, never any worse. I'm also a little horrified by their prices - $8.75 for an iced vanilla latte and a bagel? I'm not going to lie, the iced vanilla latte was delicious, but not worth that can of cash! I can go across the street to the bakery and get the same order for half the price in half the time. It's unfortunate really, as Coffee Cat is convenient, but I've reached a point where that convenience just isn't worth it anymore. read more

Great little coffee place. My daughter and I stopped into this little gem to have some coffee while waiting for my other daughter to take a dance class down the street. Great ambience, friendly service, and a peaceful, relaxing environment. Without realizing it we came in shortly before closing time, but the very nice woman working the counter offered to let us stay past closing so we could finish our coffee without rushing. There are a lot of coffee shops in this town and this is the first one we have tried, but I would have no hesitation going back again. read more

The last time I came here I had excellent service but yesterday I was really disappointed, I love the peanut butter mocha so while we were out with friends I had to stop in and get one. I walked in, no greeting or eye contact from the lady behind the counter. I stood in line, still no knowledge of my presence. I was next at the counter, still she didn't say hi or make eye contact with me. Then she went in the back and I waited for about 4 min, still no one said anything to me like I'll be right back or I'll be with you in a second, nothing. My husband walked in asked if I was waiting for my coffee I told him she hasn't even taken my order or a knowledge that I have been standing here. He was up set and told me I should leave because clearly they didn't want our business. I was upset because I have been craving that peanut butter mocha for a while, but I will never again go there and I am telling all my friends to find another place where were actually a knowledge of our presence. read more

I have very much liked coffee cat in the past but recently have not had good experiences there. I'm okay paying their higher prices for their organic products but my order is continuously made incorrectly and I don't like paying for things I didn't order. Maybe they recently hired new people but they should have better training if they can't even make a drink or a sandwhich correctly after multiple attempts. read more

This place has turned terrible since the new owners came in. I don't know if the people who wrote the 2013 reviews have lived in Newberg long but I have lived here since i was 12 and it's just awful. I'm 20 years old and in college and this used to be one of my favorite places to go. But since the new owners took over, the have hiked up the prices (about 8 dollars for coffee and a bagel) and there is new staff in there every week. You don't have the customer service that a little local coffee should have. In this town coffee is a way of life, sharing with friends and family. This place the people are rude, not quick at making coffee, and to top it off the coffee is TERRIBLE! The new owners don't know what they are doing and need to get it together because word of mouth spreads quickly around here. I know 4 different people that won't ever go back here. I really do hope they learn to turn it around. If it changes, ill change this. But until then, try all the other coffee shops first. This is the last place you want to go. read more

I used to frequently stop by Coffee Cat and get coffee since it is close. The food is definitely pricey but I can usually afford to get a decent drink. The customer service isn't great.. not super friendly staff but they will bring the drink/food out to you if it is not busy. There is no outside food or drink allowed, even if you have food allergies that they do not accommodate for which is silly, in my opinion. Because of this, I went in with a friend to get coffee today, and we had our sack lunches with us. We got our coffee to go and my friend set his food down to go order/pay. While we were not looking another employee walked over and threw his food away, without asking us to leave or get rid of it, or saying anything to us at all about it. VERY rude. We were looking around for that part of his lunch and asking around and the employees would not acknowledge us. We later looked in the trash can and saw it there..... Left very unhappy just spending almost $10 together there when we weren't eating inside and were planning on getting our coffee and leaving anyway. read more
