It's been a while since I've been here. A DT Bedford staple. Typically good Bfast and comfort foods. Old time feel. Came here for lunch with my mom. New paint job and a fresh look. At least new to me. As mentioned I haven't been here in a while. Wait to be seated when we came in. It took a few minutes but a table was cleaned for us and we sat. Nice crowd for a Thursday afternoon. Hostess is also the cashier. She gave us menus. Then we waited about 15 mins till a server came with silverware. She took our order. A chicken salad sandwich and the special chicken paprikash. I wanted to try it. Then we waited some more. At least 20 mins to get our drinks. Water with lemon. Then another 30 mins for food. It was hot when we got it. So it was fresh. Just took forever. I also got a cup of soup with my paprikash so I chose the mushroom barley. It was very thick, almost stew like. Lots of barley but not too many mushrooms. It was ok. Wouldn't get it again. The paprikash was ok. It's a ok portion. Not heaping. Ok though. It tasted ok too. Not too much distinct flavor. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't get it again. Mom's chicken salad on wheat was just ok too. For the more than hour we waited to get our food, this was not a great experience. When we went to pay the hostess cashier was MIA and we waited. We were going to pay via cc but decided we did not want to wait any longer and just gave cash. I couldn't even flag someone down to tell them I left the bill by the register. No one there. Not sure if help was the issue. Probably was. Too many customers and not enough wait staff. Or just on their own time. Server seemed surprised we wanted to go boxes and our bill. But I got to get back to work and at this rate I was out of the office more than 1 hr 45 mins. Family place. Long time establishment. Good prices for a family. I don't want to knock. But this was a bit too far for me. I can't wait for my lunch for more than an hour. Went in for a quick Sunday morning breakfast, first time here. Server was delightful! Nice varied menu with good prices and food was very tasty as expected. I've been here a couple of times for lunch and I've loved everything about it. Today I decided to try breakfast. I ordered poached eggs. What I got was sunny side up. If they don't do poached eggs, I would have been fine with that. But my server was told to tell me that those WERE poached eggs and that's the way they do them there. A little disappointing. I would have preferred if he simply said we don't offer poached eggs before he prepared the meal. That said, my server was great. read more

Their food is incredibly delicious and amazing. The flavors are so delightful that you'd think it's expensive, but it's actually very affordable! Great diner in the neighborhood! It was Sunday, and we looked for the brunch place. How lucky we were being seated in 10 minutes bc other places had 30-40 minutes of waiting list. We like the atmosphere and service from the start. The diner is casual and simple but I liked the welcoming atmosphere. ok - the husband and I are fans of family type restaurants like this one - they are our go to most of the time - stumbled upon this one on a Sat not that long ago for breakfast and it was good enough for us to say we would try it again for either lunch or dinner after we saw what they offered for those meal services - this past Friday we went for dinner and I will now never return - we were not in a rush either visit so the wait time for our orders to be taken and then to get our food was not an issue - we love lobster bisque and both opted for a dinner menu item of the bisque and 2 cod filets and coleslaw - the man that waited on us allowed me to change the slaw to cottage cheese for no extra charge which was nice - the bisque came to the table and I cannot fully explain how it looked but will try - mine was thick thick thick and needed a good stir to get it to look like a combined soup - the husband got a bowl of thinned out soup that seemed to have a layer of oil on the top - it just looked greasy which was odd - took a bite of mine and immediately told him to not eat his - mine was so fishy tasting that I immediately felt like I was going to be sick - no kidding - this stuff was definitely rancid - we just pushed it aside when the rest of our meal came .. neither were impressed with the fish - I expected it to be frozen fish but what arrived was just grey in the middle .. not at all white like cod should look even if the frozen variety - so we ate our slaw and cottage cheese & were not going to take any of the rest to go .. certainly was not gonna try that bisque again .. but the man came to us with boxes and containers so I just packaged it all up and the husband went to the counter to pay .. I think they are trying so hard to push out food that they are not paying any sort of attention to quality .. and then the kicker .. my stomach started to turn over so I asked where the restroom was and when I went to that side of the restaurant I smelled it .. that old musty sewer smell of a bathroom that has plumbing issues ... I am not even sure how they can even think of seating people on that side of the bldg it smelled that strong .. the floors were filthy and old and it is in need of a major overhaul .. smelling the bathroom no longer made me wonder why they are having issues with food quality and not being able to smell bad food before serving it to a customer - we threw the food out in the garbage can right outside the front door and will NEVER return read more

I love Coffee Cup with all of my heart! It is my quick breakfast spot I go to when I don't feel like making anything at home. I discovered this spot because of one of the boards I serve on, we meet here over breakfast. The service is great- very nice and quick. The food is quite delicious. I have never had anything outside of their breakfast but I highly suggest their veggie scramble. The only thing they are missing are mimosas! It is a cute, intimate neighbor restaurant. read more

Had a really good visit here!! Server was very friendly and attentive. She went over the specials for the day and also made sure our drinks were refilled on the regular!! Ordered the Soup of the Day which was Chicken Noodle and this was a tasty bowl of soup for a great price!! The Sausage Burger was served hot and I was really impressed!! This place definitely has the feel of a family owned neighborhood restaurant. They had a large party when we walked in, so service was a bit slow at first. Now, since the name of this place is "Coffee Cup", I expected the coffee to be better than normal. Well, turns out, it's just a name. It wasn't awful, but I guess I expected better. The wallpaper even has pictures of cups of coffee on it. I ordered the corned beef hash with scrambled eggs and toast and it was hot and tasty. I could not tell if the hash was homemade or not, but it was good. I left with the intention of returning to try other things on the menu. I noticed a waiter carrying an order of pancakes and each one was almost the diameter of the plate. I'll be trying those on another trip. 4/6/2013 Update You know...I've been here twice mainly due to proximity and the need for something fairly quick. Each time I expect to be disappointed, but honestly, I have been satisfied each time. Nothing special for sure, but I think that's what adds to the charm of the place. I am assuming, but I imagine the older gentlemen enjoying their coffee and breakfast are regulars and from the surrounding Bedford neighborhood. I had grits and sausage and it was great. The grits were cooked perfectly...creamy, buttery and hot. Yes, grits. Again, nothing fancy...they don't do shrimp and grits or grits and gravy (at least I don't think so) or any other variation that you might see at a more upscale restaurant. At first I heard about this place around town it's just called The "CUP" I was concerned it was going to be a hole in the wall type of joint but I can say I was pleasantly surprised it was a nice, small, mom and pop restaurant with a home type of feel. Every one I encountered was nice and very welcoming and we got to request where we wanted to be seated. So the menu items there was very affordable like for example my waffle I ordered was about $5 w/ 2 eggs and turkey links. The breakfast menu is almost similar to a "Waffle House" but with more options! I saw the menu had a dinner and dessert selection as well. I was presently surprised overall! I would like to come visit again the next time I come back up this way. I love any place where I can get more for my money. read more

I have been coming here since I was about 2 years old (I'm 33yo now lol) and every single time is absolutely wonderful! I used to come here as a kid with my parents and grandparents, and now I come here with my wife, son and other family members! Most of the staff have been there for as long as I can remember. The food is amazing also! Everything from their breakfast food to their desserts, I love it all!! It's a small Mom and Pop restaurant and whether you're just coming inside to eat, or you're grabbing something to go, the service is quick, and the food is always delicious! I love their burgers, club sandwich, mozzarella sticks, grilled ham and cheese, just to name a FEW. The prices are awesome and they're really generous sized portions! The atmosphere is very comforting, and you feel right at home! Also, a great place for a Sunday brunch after church!! Mom and Pop restaurants are a favorite of mine. They don't get more "Small Town" than the Coffee Cup. It's on the main drag in old Bedford and I went on a whim. The food was good, no frills but tasty and good, and the service was really good too. What I was struck by was the nice, homey atmosphere and the interesting folks just hanging out. It felt like a place for conversation and quiet Sunday mornings. Lots of parking out back and front, prices were good and the folks that run it reminded me of my grandparents. Cozy little place on Broadway. Stopped in today for a quick bite. Nothing quick here. The hostess took a minute to seat me and then a few more minutes to get me a menu. Then the waitress brought out the menu and took several more minutes to get my order. I was in there a half hour before I got anything to eat. There was hardly anyone in there. The few times I've gone in there it didn't feel warm and welcoming, I tried again because I thought maybe it was just an off day but no. The cook is always yelling at a waitress for the way an order is written or something minor, very unprofessional. Today I called to place an order and even over the phone the tone and energy of the person that answered was so bad I just hung up! DON'T EAT HERE!!! We used to come here every Sunday after church, until today when what looked like a large chunk of hair clumped together by what looked like dandruff or skin was found inside my omelet. Coffee Cup is a decent little restaurant. It does have a hometown feel and look as soon as you enter. There is plenty of seating as you can sit at the counter like an old fashioned diner or sit in the booths so it is very cozy yet roomy in Coffee Cup. I work night shift and stopping in here in the morning is a delight. It is called "Coffee Cup" so getting a cup of coffee in the morning here is an obvious choice. The coffee is decent to (I give it 3/5 stars). The coffee though is what starts you off when you look at a decently priced menu with daily specials and several choices! I LOVE their pierogies as an appetizer! My roommate always enjoys their French Onion soup but it is salty for those who are concerned with sodium as their menu contains several items for "salt lovers" but hey, the food is more than decent and it does depend on what you order too! Their fish items are delicious as my roommate and I ordered those one visit earlier. We each tried the others dish and were pleasantly surprised (4/5 overall for food and menu choices). Prices are cheap (5/5 there). Our bill is usually around $30 with coffee, appetizers and main dishes. Wait time can be an issue but it does depend on TWO things. ONE; how many people are dining. TWO; (MOST IMPORTANT) how many people are working. There is one waitress in there that always looks upset but if you notice the waitresses here DO IT ALL! The waitresses here greet you, seat you, get you started, take your order, get your drinks/food and refills, watch/maintain the diner counters and customers while watching/maintaining the other tables and finally they check you out at the register. If there is only two people working inside the restaurant then wait time will be much longer. Also, (it's not great customer service but it is understandable) the employees can look/seem a bit snarky but that's because they have so much to do (NOT an excuse but a reason for some of their responses so early in the morning). Overall, this is a great little place to try in the morning and especially for lunch. read more
