Oh no, I can't believe I never reviewed this place! I've been here around 5x since moving back to Cleveland in 2021. I've been on dates here, taken my parents here and most recently, had a big work lunch. Great selection on the menu, relatively low prices. The French toast is so good! The sausage links are meaty and yummy and the service is friendly! My daughter got a little toy after the meal so she loved that. On their website, it says no reservations, but when I called them to book a table to seat 9 people, they were able to accommodate! The wait time to get served and pay at the counter can be quite long during normal brunch/lunch hours. The location is great as it's super close to my work and to Miles Market. Love the retro 50s diner look as well! A solid local spot I always recommend! read more

The theme of end of summer travel has been hitting diners for brunch/breakfast. This was probably the 3rd or 4th diner we have hit in the last couple weeks so the bar is pretty high here... LOL!!!!! Restaurant is quaint and definitely has the diner vibe going on. You can tell the diner has been really loved and needs some TLC but often times that is a sign of great food. BLT sandwich was excellent and the bite of french toast I had was just the right ending to lunch. Would recommend their side of hand cut fries. Food was great though service was inconsistent. Meal took a long time to come out and others who came in after us had their meals before our meals and we got sandwiches. Also, one of the sandwiches was not as order. Diner was busy and was hard to get service. Would highly recommend diner does get busy on weekends do plan accordingly read more

If you are looking for a homey family style eatery, this is the place. The waitresses were talking to long time customers but still made us first timers feel welcome. My waffle was fantastic, but there was a texture issue with the eggs Benedict. Peggy, our waitress was attentive and friendly without crowding us at all. Another place I've been to a few times and this time it was just meh. Came on a Sunday afternoon. Wasn't sure if I wanted Bfast or lunch. Chose lunch. Got the classic burger with fries. My associate got the tuna melt. She loved her tuna melt. My burger was just ok. The lettuce was wilted and had brown all over it, the tomato was tiny, and I got 2 little pickles and some onion. It was just meh. The other issue was my fries. Again, I seem to get all the little burnt end fries. Not the long good fries. Whatever. All in all it was a very blah lunch. Service was ok. Never came back to check on us or give me more Dr Pepper. The place is pretty steady. Very diner looking which is good. Prices are ok. Plenty of parking. I'll probably skip for awhile. read more

On our way home we wanted to get a bite to eat before heading back to Mansfield. We liked the classic diner facade and interior. Our waitress was fast and friendly. We decided on breakfast. My wife ordered their short stack with a side of sausage while I ordered the two egg breakfast with Gyro meat. Stop at the Village Diner today. We had been by many times, on our way to Mike's Farmers Market. This is a cute, retro diner. The staff was friendly and welcoming. They have a great menu of food you would expect to see at a diner. My husband ordered the Peantbutter and jelly stuffed French toast. I had the original sourdough French toast. The food came out quickly. It was delicious!!! I highly recommend a trip to the Village Diner. You won't be disappointed! read more

Small cite actual mobile diner from yesteryear. Service was mediocre, very greeindly but not particularly efficient. When she delivered my don his OJ she spilled akot on the table, said whoops ans never wiped it up. It was not a busybmorning. Our food was about the same. My sons waffle wasnt cooked inside, he ate the chicken off the top, the server didnt even notice she cleared a plate with an entire waffle on it. I had lox and scrambled eggs, which was mostly undercooked onion. They tried with the hashbrowns, they used a fresh potato...but they were greasy and not crispy- bake your potatoes til they are just done, then cool them, peel and run through a cheesegrater. Hashbrowns will be crispy and starchy, and cook much faster. No charge for the advice. Dont eat here. read more

I really like this place. This is a longtime established restaurant, and upon visiting I understand why it's been around for so long. If you like those old style diners, this is the place for you. The old school ambiance makes it very inviting. All of your traditional breakfast favorites are on the menu - home fries, eggs any way, breakfast meats, on and on, and they are prepared very well. The service was also great to complement the food. I could eat breakfast at any hour so I wish the hours were longer. Still, I'll be back to this popular little neighborhood corner diner. read more

At first glance, I loved the architecture- a retro exterior, so we definitely had to try it. We were welcomed by a friendly waitstaff, and after we were seated our friendly server quickly served our drinks and took our order. My gyro breakfast was very delicious, and I especially enjoyed the thicker than usual toast. Our coffee cups were refreshed often, and it certainly helped start our day for the drive home. For the first time ever, I'm giving 5 stars not for excellent food, but for service and environment. Food rating is probably 2-3 stars. This is it, people. This is peak homestyle American diner experience. I came here alone seeking breakfast and refuge from the cold, rainy morning. The place is small, but cozy. There's a bar to sit at if you are dining solo like I was. The servers are so sweet and friendly, and talk to me as if they were a kind aunt and I was their favorite niece. They clearly have regulars come in here and I can see why. It's perfect. The menu has all the classics, I got the croissant sandwich and a side of grits with cheese. The food is solidly mediocre, but I devoured it all and had a great time. Love the sense of family and familiarity at this place. Highly recommend. read more

Visiting Cleveland this week. Thanks to Yelp thought I would try the Village Diner. Got here a little before noon just before the lunch rush. Looks like the "locals/regulars" eat here often. Love it when people are greeted on a first name basis. The Mushroom cheese burger was very good. Love when the cheese is melted under the broiler. Fries served nice and hot. The place is very clean. Sorry if I'm giving you whiplash. But like.... things change ok? Hahah. The food is decent, really. Depending on who is cooking it varies between 3-4 stars. The cleanliness though. Barf. Thinking about it gives me the heebie jeebies. Once there was food caked to the silverware. Another time there was lipstick prints on a cup. This time there were weird floaty things in the water that no matter how many new glasses we asked for, they were there. At this point, even though I don't mind their food at all, I'm not going back. Pretty good little local diner. I had breakfast here one morning before heading out for a meeting. I sat at the counter and ordered the sausage gravy and biscuits, two eggs over easy, and corned beef hash, plus coffee. The sausage gravy was pretty tasty, the texture of the biscuits was a little weird, not the flaky kind of biscuits I like, the texture was more like dinner rolls. The corned beef hash was your standard, canned corned beef hash. The eggs were cooked properly - a little runny to mix into the hash. This is the closest thing to a true Diner i have seen in awhile. The atmosphere was great. Very busy on a Sunday morning. We sat at the counter and the service was really good. The menu was huge. Covered all the basics but also had some great unique items. There was also a specials list that had pumpkin pancakes for the season. I ended up getting the chicken and waffles and they didn't disappoint. They also had sweet potatoes fries which i love and they were really good. The chicken came with a honey tasting syrup. Gotta try the chicken waffle. Everything is home made. From the batter on the chicken, to the crispy sweet Belgium waffle.

Came here with a group of 5 on a Sunday noon. It's a homey, pretty bustling diner. I got the lox, eggs and onions, which came with home fries and toast. It was pretty tasty! I really enjoyed the home fries (which does not come salted, so you can add your own). They had a really nice crisp (without being at all burnt), but also a soft, creamy, almost mashed-potato-like component. Choice of white or wheat toast. Toast is toast. My friend got the bagel sandwich which looked really delicious, I was eyeing it the whole time, it looked like a nice bagel (not a basic supermarket bagel). I wasn't sure how the lox and eggs would come but the lox was scrambled into the eggs, which makes sense but I prefer lox uncooked. Prices were good, what you would expect from a small diner. Solid little greasy spoon diner. We went on Sunday during brunch. It was busy, so we opted for the counter seats so we didn't have to wait. The decor was nice - dinery / 50s throw back. The bathrooms were also clean. The staff was super helpful and accommodating. We were asked numerous times if someone had been with us. Great way to be on top of things. We both had omelettes - mine, the gyro, was kind of a mess. I like the fillings to be distributed. In this, everything was clumped. Also the home fries were barely cooked, so I didn't really eat them, and didn't make a fuss, because I didn't intend to eat a lot of them. I would visit again for sure. read more

This place has everything a hometown diner should have - cheap, affordable food, clean yet cozy environment, servers that seem to know every regular, huge portions. I've been there twice, and the first time I went the owner was working the register and said she came in all the time just to work. I heard half a dozen people greeted by name when they were served and asked about their lives. The one thing to be aware of at this place is the wait. The first time I went, I was seated right away and had no issues. The second time, no one came to greet me so I sat at the counter and ordered just fine, but I watched a family walk out because they were seated in the back and no one had come to take their orders in 25 minutes. If the place seems busy, you may have to flag down the waitress to get served or sit at the counter, but it's worth it. read more

This restaurant is what it sounds like, a true diner. But it's a surprise, as it seems to grow better and better. Diners can be greasy and make your stomach churn. But this one is not! I have ordered Omelets each time I have visited and they are wonderfully fresh and tasty! The service is superior. The Servers are friendly and right there to fill up your cup. This was fun! The food was well prepared, and tasty. We were a group of 5 and everyone enjoyed their food. We were seated in a large u shaped booth with plenty of room for all. Several employees made sure that we had everything that we needed. The kids were even told that if they ate well, they'd get a prize from the Treasure Chest! (they selected a small stuffed animal and a water pistol). We will be back. We arrived at 1:15 and they close at 2, but they were super happy we were there and did not rush us at all. New ownership in the last two years has really made a difference with The Village Diner. I won't go on about how the place was poorly run under the prior owners, but the new folks get it. Simple diner fare in a faux dining car atmosphere, great service, and reasonable prices. I got my standard eggs over medium, bacon, hash browns, bacon, rye toast, and coffee. $6.50, not a bad price. Add onions to your hash browns, and if you have an appetite, get the grits. I had cheese added to them, but it isn't necessary. They're buttery and salty enough to eat on their own. I like this place! Cutest diner decor and definitely a place for locals and new people like me. I went around 9am on a Tuesday so it wasn't busy. The prices are awesome and portions are generous. The older lady serving me was adorable and attentive. She checked back in with me and was fast. LOVED the homefries with onions. They didn't just fast track it a flip flip so it crisped the outside and mush in between...they cooked all of the potatoes!! Guys, that never happens! I was so happy.
