Food always good, prices decent. Place is small and gets crowded. They are now charging to park outside which seems odd for Downingtown.

Stumbled upon this restaurant while looking for a place to eat breakfast on a Sunday so it worked out perfectly. I kind of despise places that don't take credit cards these days because it's a major inconvenience to us non-cash carrying people but at least they had an ATM. The place was packed! Service could have been better but we were there close to closing time and a during the peak hours of snow storm so I can see why the staff was preoccupied because they wanted to get out of there too. They didn't mess up our order, refilled our coffee several times and the food came out fairly quick which are all pluses in my book. I was shocked at how hot our food was though and don't think they should have served it piping hot. Since there are not a lot of true breakfast places in the area, I may end up back there again and would suggest it to others to try out too. read more

Best simple breakfast in area! Diner type place with a sit down counter. Scrapple is the best around and can't beat the eggs & taters. If you're looking for funky bennys or hip foodie fare - try the newer place in nearby shopping center. For a good solid tasty inexpensive filling breakfast get to the coffee cup! All I've had here is really good but the scrapple mess is a favorite. Try to get in for one at least twice a month. Needless to say with a name like this, but damned good coffee too. Weekends are busy after 10, but wait usually less than 20 minutes. Counter seats open even faster. Never seen a wait on a weekday. Service is super friendly & top shelf! Cash only, but you won't need too much - especially considering the heap of tasty food you'll good your plate. read more

Great basic breakfast menu. The servers are fast and super friendly. The eggs we ordered were good but the potatoes were overcooked.

My daughter and i go here at least once a week. Food is excellent and one of the few places left that actually cooks their bacon rather than baking it. Service is great they have had the same staff for a long time which says alot because most waitstaffs at other restaurants can't say that. Would most definitely recommend to anyone. read more

Coffee, GREAT!! Scrapple, some of the best I've had in awhile. The MESS, wasn't as good as I expected. Just a typical mashed up omelet. Service, was a complete joke - I'm taking it since it was our first time there we didn't matter. At least that's the way the server made it seem. Had to ask another server for refills not once but twice. We received our food and bill at same time and server never returned. Yet she was very attentive to other tables - calling them by first name - not a great way to get newbies to return. The cash only deal was okay with me since I knew ahead of time and it does keep the cost down. Would I return... Hmm maybe but def would not make a special trip much better choices in the area yet the coffee cannot be beat! read more

I might be biased because I've been going here for as long as I can remember, but I love the coffee cup. It has great atmosphere, as well as friendly service. I usually get either French toast or a sausage omelette with some delicious hash browns, and always leave happy. If you're in downingtown and are looking for breakfast or lunch, look no further than the coffee cup. read more

This place is ok... Not a huge fan. Weekends are always packed. No CASH accepted, but "conveniently" have an ATM in the back. Needs better ventilation, walk out smelling like bacon after eating here. Food is 7/10, service 8/10. No more free parking in back, Metered. read more

This is unfortunate that I feel compelled to leave this review. What has happened here? This used to be a GREAT breakfast spot and I have recommended them to many people over the years. The food I am sorry to say has taken a turn for the worse. I stopped in this morning around 9:30 and the place was not very busy, maybe 4 tables and 3-4 diners at the counter. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a Kaiser roll, simple right? The bacon which is usually perfectly cooked and crispy was flaccid and undercooked, and honestly, whatever type of roll they tried to pass off as a kaiser was both stale and disgusting. Honestly I know what a Kaiser roll is, in this area we all do. This was not, it was dense, heavy and stale, slathered with butter (this is okay) and flat like a pita bread covered with flour??? What?? The stale fake Kaiser and the bacon killed the nicely fried egg and cheese that accompanied it. If you guys got a new chef train him, if it's the same one, drug test him. I hope this is helpful and I hate to leave a bad review on a place I have been going to for almost 30 years. Your slipping.. catch yourself as word of mouth in a town this size will put you under. We followed the advice seen here on Yelp and went to the Coffee Cup one morning. The crowd was made up of locals and the atmosphere was fun and homey. However, the coffee was not the best and the food lacked appropriate seasoning. My wife went back with a friend to give it a second chance but found the same issues,. WIll not be returning! I've been to many breakfast restaurants all over the world, but this is by far the best. A landmark in Downingtown for over sixty years, the Coffee Cup is clean, the food is ample, the service is fast and friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. Although a native of Downingtown, I haven't lived there in years, but I make a point to eat breakfast there whenever I go home. I recently discovered that my mother waitressed there in 1950, and my niece and nephew work there now. read more

The prices are reasonable. The service is amazing. People seem pretty friendly. Go for the cream chipped beef or a two egg platter. Awesome.

Worst breakfast sandwich I have ever had. Bacon was raw and after trying to remove it there was no egg left. Awful.

The food is edible, but that's about all I can say. I had an omelet with 3 vegetables ($1 each). For $1 each ingredient I would have hoped for more than a tablespoon of each; there was more cheese in it than anything. my potatoes were mushy, bland, and burnt black. My friend got the waffles, which he said tasted like Bisquick. Lastly the iced tea tasted like generic powder. The staff was nice though. read more

Went in as a first time customer (left as a last time customer) and was not greeted with a smile. Owner walked by me, nothing. A stare and no smile reciprocated. The same with a waitress. Food was ok...nothing exceptional. Did not get offered a refill for my coffee or water. I was served my toast along with the check tucked underneath it. Was not told to take my time...the words no hurry were not uttered. I did get the pleasure of hearing the wait staff complain about others. I did not feel welcomed there at all. I did however get greeted by the owner of the allstar images with a handshake and very kind words as soon as I sat in a chair. Worth mentioning because that is where I was prior to going to the Coffee Crap. Ironic how each serve people and the one which I had no expectations about was by far superior in customer service. Also was only asked if I needed anything else when food was brought to table. That was the only time. I got a smile when I paid. I was still courteous enough to leave a tip, I wish the courtesy I showed was also given back in the form of good service. But it wasn't. I'm not at all a habitual complainer, I do give folks the benefit of the doubt in all circumstances. I pride myself in thaft. But ...the coffe crap will not see another dollar of mine. We found our new breakfast spot! Been meaning to try out the Coffee Cup for awhile and finally made it. We were newbies, but the service was great and never had an empty cup. Ordered eggs and scrapple, it was excellent. Wife had eggs and sausage, these were the big links, also very good. Ordered the deli rye and it was the real thing, it reminded me of Pechters rye from North Jersey. Hash browns were also very good. We will have to return and check out lunch sometime. read more

Downingtown's best kept secret. To set expectations: you do not go here for exotic cuisine, great service etc. It's a hole in the wall breakfast joint where you can count on getting a big tasty breakfast at a small price. For that, they get 5 stars. Coffee is great and your cup will always be full. Friendly staff, diner food, mom and pop feel. Mess, pancakes, french toast all great. I stumbled on this restaurant by accident and am I glad I did. I decided to try it when I read how long they have been on business and when I walked in it was packed and apparently with locals and people that knew each other. I was not disappointed with the menu or the food. Ordered a broccoli rabe egg white omelet that was delicious. Just the right amount of food to completely satisfiy, what a jewel in Downingtown. read more

Sometime in the 80's time stopped here and hasn't restarted. Classic diner with great breakfast. (Try the Mess!) French Toast is great, too. Staff will call you "hun" and you'll never see the bottom of that coffee cup. read more
