As a local who's getting ready to move to a new state, I decided to stay my last few nights in town…read moreat Maverick Hotel because we had discounted room rates for being locals who gamble at the casino regularly. However, if we didn't have discounted rooms, I'm not sure I would've stayed here. The biggest reason is because they don't have a continental breakfast. I understand that with a coffee shop and a diner in the building they feel like they don't need to maybe? Yet I've stayed at other hotel casinos before and usually if you stay at the hotel they give you a ticket for free breakfast at the casino diners. Maverick does not do that... so be prepared to pay for breakfast in the morning. The other disappointing thing is the outdoor pool. I will forever be partial to hotels that have indoor pools that are open year round. Give me a hot tub, please. Otherwise the rooms are super nice and clean. The showers are hot. The WiFi is free. And our room at least had a working AC and heater unit. I also think it's kind of cool that the rooms have a little balcony that actually opens. The rooms also have a mini fridge and a microwave and a Kcup coffee machine, which are all very nice to have. At the end of the day, we took these rooms because they were so cheap... but the no breakfast really is the biggest bummer.

My son lives here, but I come thru often because I live in Sparks, and this was always my go to up until about 3 years ago, that I had such a tragic experience, I abandoned my room for the 2nd night and stayed at Shutters. First off, I was offered a comp weekend because of my experience a few years back. That particular GM wasn't there, but I called to see if they were still honor a comp room for a night, and despite there being a couple years in between my last visit, they still honored that promise. That spoke volumes. My room, was perfect, exactly what I'm used to with this place. Didn't eat at Aspen this time, just some gambling and cocktails. We started off in the back bar, and I can't remember the nice lady's name, but she was on point. WE gambled and drank a bit, then went and gambled a little bit more, and actually won all of our money back, so we decided to sit in the front bar and just pay for drinks so I didn't give the house back the money hahaha Char (pronounced like 'Cher', not Char-Broil hahaha) was our bartender in the front bar. She actually helped us on the floor also before we sat to drink. It was the day after christmas, and their staff was run wire thin, they were covering the floor and bartending, busting their butts. I've never had an issue with service here, ever. It was cold outside, even snowed overnight. Not a single issue with the AC, despite others complaints. Thank you guys again, for honoring your promise from years past. I'm completely satisfied once again, and now I know the calibers back on point, this once again, will be my go-to, and with my new fancy updated players club card! Each time we've visited, we placed our order, paid, and then were told after the fact that they were out of key ingredients--an unacceptable and avoidable issue that speaks to poor management and customer service. Most recently, on Thursday, June 5th, we walked in and specifically asked the cashier if they were out of any food before ordering. She assured us everything was available, so I ordered a tofu bowl with noodles and vegetables, and my husband ordered a spicy chicken bowl. After paying, we sat down to wait, only to be approached by a staff member informing us that they were out of spicy tofu--despite confirming its availability beforehand. When I was asked if I'd like to substitute it with chicken, I explained that I am a vegetarian, making the substitution impossible. After three failed attempts to dine here, we've lost any confidence in this establishment's ability to serve customers reliably. Teriyaki Madness needs to address their inventory issues and ensure honest communication with patrons. Until then, we won't be giving them another chance. I would appreciate it if management or corporate could reach out to discuss this situation further. Thank you.
