I have been coming her for 5 years now. And this young blonde lady is always so kind, sincere and welcoming. We were greeted with a smile and seated right away, even though the restaurant was busy. The service was good, our coffee's were refilled regularly and our food arrived quickly and hot! I ordered the Lasagna special. It came with a soup or salad. I was offered neither. The Lasagna itself was swimming in grease, no sauce and burnt to the bottom of the bowl. The only thing edible on the plate was the garlic bread. Ir was the absolute worst Lasagna i have ever eaten in my life. I would have ordered something entirely different but the server was too busy hanging out with her coworkers and having fun. The photo shows the dish after I asked for a bowl to pour the grease off. Great location with a full bar attached next door. Drinks are reasonably priced and served with a smile. Food and service weren't great. Fries cold, soup luke warm and flat. Server either wouldn't come around or forgot our requests when they got distracted. Food for us xamw out at different times by like five minutes which was weird because wife had French toast and that took 5 minutes longer than a club sandwich? I would love to give 5 stars for the waitress only! She was the only person working and it was ridiculous!! the 2 busboys were just standing around or both cleaning one table while gossiping. There were also 2 hostesses there but they sure weren't working. Just standing around while people were waiting to be seated. They wouldn't bring drinks or napkins either. Wonderful breakfast/lunch joint in Elko! We stopped here on our way from Utah to Reno, but stumbled across this place when the normal breakfast spot we go to was closed. Boy, I'm glad we did! The interior is much more than you would expect from a traditional coffee shop, and the service was spot on! I got the Popeye omelette with a side of pancakes (it's all about balance, right?!) both were phenomenal! My son and husband got the French dip with fries, and loved them! The ranch was the best! Service was super fast and friendly, and the food came out really quick, which was nice since we were tying to get home in a storm. I wish I would have bought one of the items in their dessert case up front (pies, muffins, cookies, cheesecake), but I was so full, I couldn't think about eating anything else. The customer service was very good even when they had a full house of customers. While in town I ate there two days and both days the breakfast was enjoyable. The texas French toast were thick and full of flavor. The second day I had the chicken fried steak and it had the classic texture and you can tell it wasn't something frozen being served to you. Everyone in there was nice and friendly. I'm not sure if I'm just used to California prices but the prices they had for all of their meals on the menu were the best I've seen in a very long time. If you're ever traveling down I-80 and are looking for a great breakfast spot take the detour and stop at the coffee mug to fill up. Bummer. Dinner prices have gone up big time since last year. The food was good. We had a friendly server however I asked for soup and salad and I got separate orders. The waiter charged me for the $4.99 soup and the $15.99 salad which had an enormous amount of onions and strawberries all over it. Just a note in case you're planning to order that spinach salad. I think I ate half of it and left the rest. Definitely not worth $15.99. The fruit pie with ice cream is $6.99. I really love that. The coffee for two people $6.98. Too bad they raised all of the prices. A five dollar cash tip was left on the table. I enjoy the atmosphere however, most of the booths are in need of upgrading. They are cracked and have those springs in multiple locations when you sit down. You have to scout out an even spot. On a Friday night there weren't that many people there but if they brought their prices down, I'm sure more people would be coming. read more

The Coffee Mug holds a special little place in my heart, as being one of the first restaurants I tried when moving to Elko. So far every time we have gone, the service has been awesome. The wait staff has been very attentive. And the food has never been bad! We've gone on a few different occasions now and I have tried the Mug skillet with mushrooms, the Denver Scramble Sandwich also with mushrooms, and the Jalapeño Burger with a fried egg and they even made me garlic fries when they aren't exactly on the menu!! The coffee is actually really good too and the Bloody Mary is amazing. I will definitely keep coming back to coffee mug to try a different breakfast items seeing as how they're so consistently good. Definitely want to try corned beef and hash one of these days which I'm almost positive I saw on the menu, and definitely want to try the Chorizo skillet! read more

An old friend and I met this week for a girls' getaway in Elko (the halfway point between our current homes). We talked well into the night so slept through the complementary breakfast at our hotel. We asked the gal at the hotel desk to recommend a good diner for breakfast and she offered The Coffee Mug. We followed her recommendation. We both ordered a standard breakfast with eggs. Mine came scrambled and were nice and fluffy. Everything was just as we expected, good home cooking and large portions. My friend noticed the freshly made brownies by the check-out counter and suggested we return for dinner, and a brownie. Dinner was just as good. I had the fried prawns and baked potato, etc (salad, vegetables, and a roll were also included). My friend ordered a chicken pasta dish. Everything was yummy and I especially appreciated the generous servings of salad dressing, butter, and sour cream that came with my meal. My friend was disappointed that the brownies had sold out and expressed this to our server. Just as we were paying our bill, freshly wrapped brownies were rushed up to us, right out of the oven. My friend was even offered her choice of the slightly crispy edge piece or the gooey middle cut. She opted for the latter and we took it back to our hotel room to share a bit later. Hmm, hmm good! This is, apparently, THE place to eat in Elko. I don't know how the waitresses were keeping up with everything, but they were! The place is adorable, but loud. The food is delicious and priced right. Do not ask for water! It's tap water and it's completely undrinkable. Honestly, the only reason I gave four stars rather than five is because they sat me at a table instead of offering a booth. Stopped in Elko for breakfast before visiting my son in Carlin. It looked good from other Yelp reviews. The Coffee Mug has a great atmosphere. Great decor and nice vibe. Clean. Waitress sat me right away and took my drink order. Menu has a lot of options. I went for the Popeye omelet with full eggs not eggs whites. It came with a choice of pancake or biscuit and I chose the pancake. Also choice of hash browns or country potatoes. Food arrived very quickly. The omelet was delicious. There was a side of salsa that added nice flavor to the country potatoes. The avocado was on top and very fresh and perfect ripeness. I could not finish all my food. I did try the pancake and it had a nice texture but I'm sugar free so I only had it with butter. It was your standard pancake nothing too exciting. Very happy with my visit to Coffee Mug and I will be back should I find myself in Elko any time soon. read more

My huevos rancheros strongly resembled nachos, in the best possible way, and my gratitude at seeing ground taco beef as an alternative to ham and bacon was profound.
