This place is a consistent study haunt for me. They have an incredible pasty selection and a variety of teas. What I love most is that they're open late! I love the feel of a cafe at night, and this is one of the only places I can experience that. The place is really clean, the staff is friendly and happy to let you take your time, and the coffee is good. It's important to know that they only do 2 shots of espresso max, so if you want the largest size, be aware of that. Seats also fill up, so it might be hard to find a table, but I think it's a testament to how much the community loves this cafe! read more

My husband and I popped in here to grab a drink and a treat while shopping in the area. My husband got a dirty chai and didn't think it was very good. I got a macron, and it was stale. We ordered tea at a good price of $2.50 for a small pitcher of hot tea. The Ikea pitchers must be poured slowly. The decaf lattes are nice and foamy, mid-tier compared to other coffee shops. The coffee is mid-tier, the ambiance is lovely with cute decor, employees were accommodating. What brought us here is that they are open until 9pm. However, they don't have wifi. That is UNHEARD of in a coffee shop. I used my hotspot, but it's pretty odd for a coffee shop not to have wifi. read more

Cute little spot in an O-Town type area. This came recommended from a friend who used to live here. I love this location as a sucker for 9th & 9th. It's got great people watching, cute neighboring boutiques and shops, and local restaurants that make it one of SLC's most beloved neighborhoods. If it weren't for its location, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to get their coffee. It's good enough and they have tons of flavors like blackberry and coconut, which inspired me to go outside the box and order a blackberry coconut latte. My word the iced chais here are a godsend on a warm day! What was particularly helpful (and delicious) was the barista assistance in selecting a true one-off experience flavorwise. I encourage you to try something new--just ask these mad flavor scientists for a unique creation and they'll find one to your tastes. We tried the Tajin-watermelon lemonade, iced chai with garam masala + cardamom brown sugar, and cold brew. I have been enjoying Coffee Garden for decades...and have spent tens of thousands of dollars there. I think I've had enough. One male employee behind the counter is consistently condescending and rude--always- regardless of my friendly demeanor, and regardless of the friendly greetings offered by many other customers. Tonight, once again, with an earpod in one ear (always has an earpod in his ear) he interrupted my brief conversation with the Barista who was preparing my order of a cookie and coffee. "N" pointed at the register and told me to sign the screen and wrap up/speed up my payment. I have heard many others complain about "N"'s surly, superior attitude. Tonight, after attempting to enjoy my coffee and cookie with a friend, I approached the counter after she had left and told "N" that I was not going to tolerate his utter lack of kindness any longer, and that he had been extremely rude to me at least 75% of the time. "N" smirked and through a slight giggle said, "Thanks for the feedback." If I choose to go to Coffee Garden ever again, I will ask to be served by one of their other many friendly employees. "N" apparently fancies himself as some sort of celebrity. He has ruined the experience of one of my favorite spots in town. read more

Right when you walk in, the smell of fresh coffee welcomes your senses. There aren't many parking spots in the front of the building but there are a few more options in the back. The price for the drinks and food selections are on par with the quality you get. 16oz Caramel Latte: $4.60 - the caramel notes aren't overly sweet. The ratio of milk foam to coffee is perfectly expected from a latte. Blueberry Peach Scone: $2.45 - the fruitiness of the blueberry and peach paired well with the buttery scone. My only recommendation is to offer the option to warm it up. Peanut Butter Bar (GF): $4.25 - one of my all time favorite items that I look forward to. The bar is rich and dense with chocolately goodness. This treat is best paired with a non-sweetened coffee. Overall, coffee garden is a great place to relax and unwind with a hot cup of java. If you are feeling hungry and looking for a bite to eat, they have quite a few sweet and savory options. I haven't tried their sandwich offerings but their bakery case is full of delectable treats. The only downside is that there is NO wifi. This was surprising news when I arrived with my laptop and ready to tackle on some pape work. Be prepared to use your own hotspot. Would you go? Came on a Sunday morning 11am. There are a lot of people. The line is really long. About at least 10 minutes waiting in the line, The atmosphere is good. It's a great place to hang out with friends without worrying about being kicked out or being bothered by a waiter asking you if everything is OK . Cute coffee shop in a nice area to walk around in! They have a large drink menu and have snacks too which is great for an afternoon pick me up. Lots and lots of seating. Most tables were filled which was good energy, but might be hit/miss trying to grab one. I ordered an almond milk latte with one of their syrups that they make in house which was fun! The latte itself was great, nice and warm, and the syrup was a nice level of sweetness. The barista thought the order on the cup said "cortado" not the syrup name (also started with a C) so when I initially got it she argued with me about what the order was which was a little unsavory and rude, but once she understood what the drink order said she was friendlier and fixed the drink. I'd still go back as the place is nice and there's lots of seating, but the interaction was kind of unpleasant. read more

We got a coupe of lattes and some of their pastries: pear tart, almond croissant and zucchini bread. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. The coffees were great and the pastries were tasty. Lived here in '17. Your place was my favorite "escape". I bought the thermoses, etc you guys sold. One of the smaller ones I still use as my fave & gave 4 away for presents. I would do my work there for 3 or 4 days a week for about 2 hours at a time - just for a change of scenery. Lots of people obviously did the same. Got to meet a knitting group there for a bit. That was nice. So when I came back last year for a visit (drove all night) , I stopped at your place first. I bought breakfast for 5 people that day and haven't been back in since. While waiting, I saw the sign about no internet. (WTH?) I guess that means you guys decided we weren't worth the expense. I could use my own hotspot... but also... While I was excited to be back, the gal taking my order was rude. Well yeah, it takes a little more time to handle an $85 order than a $7 one! You want to order more?!?!?!? Wow.... what an inconvenience to her! Nasty interaction. When I lived nearby, I liked going there to work for 2 hours.... and enjoy bringing home goodies besides what I had while there. I literally had a $700/month Coffee Garden budget. The food, as always, was fine - but if it's not a pleasure to exchange money with someone, I would rather take the cash to someone that appreciates it. This place is more like a college hang out, a good place to come and grab a coffee and do homework; everyone looked friendly. Staff were friendly, but the coffee was ok, but one thing i liked is that they make their own syrups. Coffee Garden is well-loved by locals and often very busy, but I personally did not find the coffee itself to be worth the hype. I did like that they do have a very extensive menu for both food and drinks, but it was very average espresso. I had ordered a macchiato and thought it was alright but not the best in SLC. The ambiance is really chill and it's full of locals which is cool. It's crowded on the weekends though, so I personally would not count on bringing a laptop and staying in case there is no seating available. read more

Located on the infamous 9th and 9th the community gathers together here for friendship and a good cup of coffee. Ambiance Classical music playing overhead, captivating art on the walls, and a variety of people gather here. I truly feel like everyone is welcome. There's a good amount of seating for the space as well as one big communal table in the middle of the lobby, almost forcing you to talk to your neighbor. Now they do not provide wifi, because this is kinda the point of the shop. To cultivate community and strike up conversations. Food/coffee They serve Cafe Ibis as well as Tea Zaanti, which in my experience are the best options for tea and coffee supply in Utah. From my knowledge, a lot of things are house-made, some syrups, pastries, and food items. They do offer a good selection of gluten-free pastries, you just need to ask about it (the gluten-free banana nut muffin is TO DIE FOR). The process for the matcha could be better. Since the last time I was there they only offered one size for iced because they blend it with milk, this problem is minuscule though and could be fixed. Service I can really tell the baristas love the shop and they know what they're doing behind that machine. I've always felt welcomed by the staff and like they work hard to cultivate the environment there and make Coffee Garden what it is. read more

This neighborhood is the perfect place to enjoy the electric vibe and grabs good cup of coffee and a sweet treat. Inside there are areas for Baird games and getting to know people. Outside you can sit and watch the people go by as you sip on a delicious drink it catch up on the day with a friend. Hillie and Kellie were so helpful- Thank you both!
