This cafe is okay in my experience. The staff is friendly, and the location is spacious with plenty of parking, and I do love the later hours. I just don't think the drinks are anything special! However, for gatherings where the focus is mostly on socializing, I think it's a wonderful option. I wish they had more food/bakery items. read more

This space is really big, and roomy. There's plenty of seating. The view from their outside seating area is beautiful! The menu was pretty big, but the coffee we tried wasn't amazing. It didn't have much flavor in either direction. (Not really sweet, but not really coffee-ish either. ) it was more of a lightly flavored milky water. It was really blah, nothing to rave over. I was meeting a colleague here and was unfamiliar with the menu-but I did know that it was bloody hot outside and I didn't want hot coffee. So I asked the nice lady to make something frozen and not too sweet. I wish I'd paid better attention to what she gave me-it was perfect! This might be one of my new favorite east side hangouts. They are open late, have plenty of parking and have a very cool vibe. Someone had their dog with them, so I naturally sat at the table nearby so I could pet the dog. Duh. I stopped by for something warm and caffeinated before the Elite event at Witchy Yoga Girl, as it was right across the parking lot. The space was full of people from students to those getting off work. It reminded me of a basement or garage hangout, which I kinda dig! First time in, and it sure as hell won't be the last! The vibes here are super chill, urban taste, with a simple menu to kick it off. It's not intimidating to come in here and figure out what you want. Granted, part of that was due to the help of Shelby (sorry if I misspelled!!) who has worked here for a decade! Friendly, came ready with recommendations, and made lovely conversation with us all while dishing out drinks. As an ex-barista myself, she's gonna set y'all right every time. ;) As far as the actual drinks go, 3 for 3 were hits! The Voldemort was delightful, it isn't strong so if espresso isn't your thing it's worth a try and the brewed coffee they use is great. The Chai of the Tiger was 10/10. Fantastic house blend chai that's spiced, proper, noble, and just sweet enough to bring a smile to your face. The Honey Badger is a chai based drink that SLAPS. I came to Sunset last week with my fam while looking for a spot to meet a friend. Shelby welcomed us with her sweet self and was amazing! She made recommendations and multitasked like a pro. Our drinks were.... To say the least... perfectly lovely. The chai is a house blend that will just rock your world. The specialty coffees are delish and just what I was looking for. I have been back every day since and am equally delighted every time. Today I got a blended vanilla matcha.... Oooooh laawwwd! Phenomenal. Not too sweet, just perfect. Julianna was lovely and welcoming. Each time I come, business is hopping, people are enjoying, it's exactly what you want in a coffee shop. And they are open until Midnight 365 days!!! Been going here since I was a teenager and now I'm 27 and have worked at several coffee shops over the years. I've visited 3x in the past week because my partner loves the Frozen Voldemort drink. Every time I've ordered something different, and every single time it's been soooo off. Iced Voldemort with whole milk tasted like it had absolutely no coffee, yet a burnt almond taste was present. Iced Honey Badger (chai) was extremely sweet and didn't even taste like chai. Iced Latte with Toffee flavor added tasted absolutely disgustingly burnt, seemed like a quad shot latte with burnt shots, did not taste toffee or sweet at all. I ended up putting 2 sugars in it, and when I asked for the sugars, the Barista seemed extremely bothered that I'd even asked. Chairs are ripped up, the place is dirty, and the comfortable ambiance the place had when I was a teenager is completely gone. 0 stars if I could. I feel like it's such a hit or miss with this place. I've been coming here for around 4 years now. I would always meet up with friends and it's always really crowded especially on weekends. I feel like almost unwelcome because how the staff is. I have never felt more uncomfortable in a coffee shop. Their drinks are reasonable priced but finding a table even on a Monday night is a nightmare. waited in the car for an hour and came back in for a table and still nothing. After finishing an event up the mountain we were looking for a place to grab some coffee. We knew it would be tricky on a Sunday afternoon but we were happy to even find a place open. We stopped in and it was the cutest place. Smelled amazing. Menu was easy to read. The decor wasn't over the top but was cute and you could tell they tried hard to support local causes. Staff was so friendly and helpful. I ordered the Voldemort "iced" with soy milk, and my friend ordered it hot. Both were so yummy! We both commented on how good they were and were surprised we hadn't heard of this place before. Very great find for a coffee shop! I have been here several times and I thoroughly enjoy the experience that I receive here whether it is the service or just a tome to hangout with others. Sunset Coffee is one of those locations that has a very cool and chill vibe. The one where you HAVE TO come here and see what it's about! I consider it to be pretty "hipster" meaning the crowd that it attracts and the ambiance of the location that entails. There are PLENTY of seats to find whether you want to be indoors or outdoors on the side or in the back and watch the sunset go down while sipping down a cup of coffee and reading your book. I mainly come to this location to study and always try to get the long table towards the back. There is a power cord on the side that tends to get filled or stuck on the opposite side making it hard to charge your technology. Other than the long table there are plenty of other places to sit and charge your stuff. I have mainly noticed the majority population are the younger crowds who I assume are college students. This place REALLLLY attracts the younger population. Also, you do see people vaping outside of the establishment frequently so forewarning incase this might surprise you. Their Voldemort drink is also pretty good and one of their more popular items. I typically get their iced mocha which will keep you up for a while. Try this place out! The coffee is great and so is the view. The employees are friendly and attentive. Their patio is heated in the winter too. The reason they get 3 stars is the cleanliness. Never seen anyone clean a table, the bathroom, sweep, or mop. Their patio is also gross and I regularly sweep it when I visit. If they took more pride in cleaning and maintaining the joint, this place could be 5 stars. I've been gradually doing a coffee-hop of the different shops in the Sandy area, and Sunset was the most recent. Husband and I were looking for a place to study, and Sunset has most other coffee shops beat in that it's open well into the evening on Sundays; in fact, I'm pretty sure it's open until midnight. It's probably for that reason that this coffee shop attracts a lot of students. The place is large with lots of seating and at 3 p.m. on a Sunday was slammed. They do their best to provide enough power outlets (including outside on the patio), but I'd recommend having your stuff charged ahead of time anyway because there aren't enough to go around. Also, the student vibe starts giving way to the "loud groups of friends socializing" around 5 or 6 p.m., so if you're looking for quiet, come earlier in the day. The coffee itself was pretty good--lots of the sugary mixed blends if you're into that. I'd like to come back and try more, but in the meantime we enjoyed our treats--a mocha latte and a frozen chai latte. The chai was the better of the two. Not much to get in the way of food--maybe some muffins. Service was friendly and fast. Ambience is more functional than fancy. read more

i figured i'd give this place an update since the initial rating was based off one visit alone. I've been here a handful of times now & it really is great every time! the first time i came was with my sister on a whim, but she actually lives less than 5 minutes away from here now, go figure! my last stop in was yesterday to get her some gift cards for her birthday coming up this week. i also picked up a frozen voldemort, which I've gotten the last two times now & it's great. the staff here is super chill & ive never had a bad drink. doesn't matter if it's hot, iced, or blended- everything's super good. the atmosphere is definitely my favorite, it doesn't feel like your typical coffee shop, there's plenty of seating both in & outdoors, plus the inside has some really comfortable couches. not pretentious in anyway, feels more like a local hang out spot! i even saw a dog in here yesterday! they stay open until 1:00 am, my sister says it's a really nice spot to watch the sunset from the patio, especially since it's got the best view of the mountains. i would think twice the next time you want to grab starbucks or beans & brews- come to sunset instead, you won't regret your trip! read more

Warning--- It does attract a ground and has been around as a Sandy staple for a long time. Good selection of drinks, haven't had complaints about anything I've tried before. Now the coffee is okay, the environment is great, it willed with all walks of life. The staff is super friendly and kind.
