Stopped by Coffee Noir this morning before my hike, and I immediately understood why it's such a local favorite. Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, it has that cozy, hidden-gem feel. The indoor space is on the smaller side, but the seating is thoughtfully arranged and the patio is absolutely adorable. I ordered the JCCC, and it was the perfect balance of sweet without being overpowering, and it came out fast, which was much appreciated before hitting the trail. Great coffee, great atmosphere, and an easy place to love. I'd absolutely go back. read more

The picturesque college coffee shop tucked into a neighborhood. Its quiet, reserved and plenty of seating. They have a great patio that can easy fit groups of all sizes and misters for hot days. It's nice that it's not in a busy part of town with expensive parking, and it gives you the chance to relax while getting some school or work done. Friendly staff and good drinks. A lot of the seating is based on the patio, so a perfect shop for a good weather day. On a bad weather day it would definitely be busy inside. read more

Walked here one fine morning and ordered the dirty chai which was 6$, don't get me wrong it wasn't terrible but definitely not worth the price. For food I decided to go with a their breakfast burrito which was endlessly disappointing. With 0 exaggeration this burrito was in the bottom 3 I have ever tried. Coffee Noir is a really wonderful spot to work remotely. Don't overlook this hidden gem in Salt Lake's East Central neighborhood! It's open everyday and I always receive timely and friendly service from the baristas! The espresso is strong and bold and they offer some pastries and a few breakfast items as well. I would recommend Coffee Noir more in the warmer months, since their outdoor seating area is what draws me in, with lots of surrounding trees for shade. Great place to grab a quick drink on the way to work. I enjoy their Matcha and seasonal drinks. I suggest you try their spinach feta croissant pinwheel, it's yummy. Came with some friends ordered a dirty chia. It was alright tasted sweet for me like syrupy. Friends I was with like coming. Inside has few seating places. Outside also has areas to sit in the shade. I frequent this place on the weekends during the school year. Their seasonal specialties are some of the best and creative. Their outside seating is great for when it's warm. Many dogs are outside too which is always a fun time. I get my drinks and pastries very quickly and they have cards so every 10th drink is free! read more

Full marks for ambiance. The first thought that popped into my mind was that Coffee Noir looks like what you would imagine if you dreamed of opening your own coffee shop. It's cozy, charming, and has nice character. Service was friendly and efficient enough; I arrived early in the morning right after they had opened so I think they were busy and distracted. The coffee, on the other hand, was less than stellar. I got a dark roast with an espresso shot, and it was anything but dark; it was rather insipid and disappointing, especially for the price. After stopping at two coffeeshops in the area without wifi it was nice to finally make it to this one. It's a no frills coffee shop with a variety of drink and pastry offerings. It was a gorgeous day so having outdoor seating was perfect. I ordered a drip coffee and a warmed butter croissant. The milk was out and they quickly refilled it for me. The croissant was pretty hard so it makes me think it was a few days old it was difficult to even cut with a knife. Delicious hazelnut ice blended coffee! The staff was friendly and patient with me after asking a dozen questions and they even made recommendations on which plant-based milk blended well with the coffee! The place is super cute. Nestled in the middle of a neighborhood surrounded by green! Felt like I was in Seattle or Portland! Coffee Noir is one block from my place, so we go here often. I don't love the coffee; it's either always too bitter or too sweet. The lattes and mochas are too sweet for me. The people there are great and are pet friendly; they always give my dog a treat. They have plenty of add on flavours and a lovely place to sit as well. There is no indoor seating. They don't have any food options from what I remember. It's open till 6 pm which is rare for neighbourhood coffee shops in SLC. read more

This is a neat little coffee shop tucked away in a cool neighborhood. They serve great coffee and other drinks as well as really good to-go breakfast foods/baked goods that are brought in fresh by a 3rd party each morning. I see people of all ages here and the atmosphere is very chill. They have ample outdoor seating. The staff is friendly (for the most part). If you start going there somewhat regularly, they will remember your drink and food order and they have a free drink rewards program. read more

Have you ever walked into *$s and wondered what it must have been like so many years ago when they first started. You can't get more neighborhood than McClelland Street and Second south. Oh, yea, McClelland is one-way heading south. I have to admit twice I turned down the street going the wrong way. After a brief (heartwrenching) closure, Cofee Noir is back up and running, though under different management. The ambiance is still awesome, the people are still awesome, the walk-ability of this shop is still awesome, the graphic design on the sign is still awesome, and the coffee--it's still mega uber awesome. Sadly, the brewed coffee wasn't hot. I wasn't blown away by the coffee either. It was ok. The location was great tho, it was sunny & warm enough to sit outside.
