A much needed neighborhood coffee shop has finally opened at this shopping center since a Peets Cafe closed across the street a couple years ago. Always hoping for a good new coffee or tea shop in the DMV! I love small businesses and I could love this spot too. I could tell that the staff know about their beverages as I listened to their expertise and observed their preparation and technique. The atmosphere here has that close community feel and there is already a neighborhood following as I overheard staff knew quite a number of guest coming in on a Saturday afternoon. I hope this high quality of service and community atmosphere continues long term. Looks like the coffee beans served here are from Turkish Coffee Lady (Turkish grind only) and Cervantes Coffee (I approve). [Read: Coffee snob here]. There is a Turkish Lady Coffee location in Old Town Alexandria. It's very crowded on the weekends and worthy of a separate review. I tried the peppermint mocha with a seasonal pumpkin bread and the sahlep, which tastes like a "warm vanilla shake". Both drinks are quite good. Not too sweet. Just the right amount of flavor. I like that the varied menu of beverage drinks on the wall listsa few more drinks that I don't even know about. See associated photos. Well isn't this a nice place to visit. I walked in to some smooth jazz, and a warm greeting by the barista. Instead of your typical printed menu, they have written the menu on the subway tiles that make up the backsplash...pretty clever. We ordered a mocha (which they offer two, light or dark. I combined the two) and a regular brownie. This brownie though...it's made with dark chocolate and love, definitely recommend getting one. I like this place. They even have a play coffee maker set for the aspiring barista, and outside seating with the dog bowls. read more

Went a few times as they are conveniently located. If you are a coffee drinker(unlike myself), this is the place for you! My husband insists their Turkish coffee is the best he's had outside of Turkey! Never had bad service there. The presumed owner seems delightful. They are very quick as well. For non coffee, they used to not have much but I noticed a few new non coffee options I have to try next time I'm in including a sahlep. I also wish they would add some gluten free options to the menu. I do recommend coming here. Note it's more of a coffee shop than comes up on Google. Also seating is minimal. Coffee In has a great selection of hot and cold coffee drinks. The cheddar and chive scone was very good other pastries looked delicious. There is seating.inside as well as two tables and chairs outside. Staff is engaging and friendly, they will happily discuss dring offerings, how they are made and what the flavor profile is like. I love small independent coffee shops with great selection and staff, Coffee In definitely falls into my recommended category. read more

This is such a cute cafe with a lot of interesting options! The ambiance is cute. There's a cute little kids corner to entertain kids while you order. There were only a couple tables inside. Wish they had seating options outside. I love their pastry options, particularly the savory scone and crogel (croissant + bagel). We tried their specialty coffees, and unfortunately they are way too sweet for us. Will have to try their drip coffee next time. The service is wonderful and the people were just nice and kind. Stopped here on a road trip. Friendly staff. Small amount of seating. But some of the better cold brew that I've had. It's usually really bitter but theirs was more mild. We also had their breakfast sandwich on a "crogal" which was greasy but decent. Very child friendly, which actually made it less inviting to adults. Looked a bit like a daycare center inside. Looking around, you could tell other adults were trying to keep their distance from the random free roam toddlers. Just get it to go! read more

Great find! New to the area and haven't seen many local coffee shops that aren't corporate. We found Coffee In's high ratings on Google and decided to check it out. This place did not disappoint and will be our new go to for good coffee, food, and atmosphere. Food: we ordered the turkey panini - crisped just right with crunchy pickle and gooey cheese; brown butter chocolate cookie - order it warm, it's soft and crispy edges. Drinks: we ordered the iced chai - not too "spicy" and refreshing; and the cortado - hot and powerful caffeine punch to keep us going. I'm glad there's a new coffee shop in the neighborhood that is not a chain! (There are way too many Starbucks.) What I tried today: - Mystic latte; it's good and unique, not too sweet. I've never had mastic gum syrup before. - Egg and cheese quiche. All for take out since I had other errands to run. The ladies at the counter were really friendly and gladly explained items on the menu that were unique to their shop. It seems to be a kid friendly cafe as well! They have a toy cafe booth at the entrance and high chair available for parents with younger children. I'm definitely gonna come back and try other unique drinks that they offer. read more

The gentleman who pulled my espresso was friendly and explained the different drinks to me. Inside the shop it is inviting, bright and relaxing. Soft instrumental music is played in the back ground. I was greeted by a friendly face. I ordered a Butterscotch Latte with almond milk and I wasn't sure what to get for food and that's when the person at the register suggested their "Cro-gel" which was a combination of a croissant and bagel with everything bagel topping. I got an egg and cheddar on the "Cro-gel" and it was out of this world. Never tasted anything like it. Absolutely scrumptious. I visited Coffee In for the first time recently. The prices were much more than I expected to pay but since there were plenty of good Yelp reviews and it's a small business, I stayed and ordered. I had a vanilla latte and blueberry muffin. The latte flavor was a good taste. The blueberry muffin interior was thick and needed to be warmed. Although it never reached the temperature needed but I was able to enjoy it. In all I paid $11.24 ($4.65 large muffin and $6.05 16oz latte). I usually come here closer to closing time so I've never experienced this place when it's more than 3-4 customers. unfortunately, I was here on a weekend around lunch time and the place was packed. It's already a tiny spot with a few small tables inside and a little outdoor seating and all seats were taken with several seated and waiting and at least 8 people in line waiting to put in an order. I ordered two matcha lattes and a toasted bagel with cheese. The cashier was super friendly despite panicking a bit from all the orders, and said my bagel would take awhile. I had 30 minutes to get to an appointment in the shopping center so I wasn't concerned and figured it was going to take a little longer because of all the orders ahead of me. The drinks surprisingly came out within 5-10 minutes... and they said my bagel is coming out soon. I didn't realize until over 20 minutes later everyone that came in after me got all their food orders and I was still waiting. They all had more complicated orders like paninis and waffles vs my toasted bagel with cheese. I went to the counter to ask them and was rudely told by a different person it was coming. Yeah, they just made it then after I asked... and a couple minutes later it was ready and the woman that snapped at me when I asked about the status brought it quickly but said they appreciated me being patient but in a tone suggesting I wasn't. An apology followed by them just being honest that they forgot about it or mixed up communication about who was making it would have gone a long way, even for a toasted cheese bagel that took 30 minutes to make! read more

I was so excited to find a non-chain coffee shop within 15 minutes from me. The atmosphere inside is great, it's a small shop but it's super cute. I really like how the menu is written on the subway tiles. I'm pretty standard and just had a coffee and Nutella croissant. The coffee was good, I think next time I will try one of the many latte's on the menu. The croissant was ok, but I'm definitely going to try one of the waffles next time I head over. This is a super great place in the area! It's clearly very popular on a weekend, as all of the tables both inside and outside were take. It's very small so there wasn't a lot of room to stand, but the staff was cranking out orders really quickly, so despite the people, we still got our order within a reasonable time. The ice latte was delicious. The notes of their coffee were not overly citrusy or fruity, making for a satisfying drink. Their iced green tea was also really good and didn't taste bitter and over-steeped like iced teas you get at most other places. Absolutely love love love this place! The drinks are really good and even the matcha is good (real ones know this will make or break a coffee shop). The customer service is outstanding, they're always very warm and friendly and i've tried at least 10 different items off the menu and they've all been delicious. Recently tried the spiced carrot sahlep and it blew my mind how they came up with such a delicious blend of flavors. The place is definitely on the smaller side, but it's super adorable and there's still a lot of space to sit and enjoy your coffee or food.
