Toasted twice with light amount of cream cheese and bacon

Glad to be the 100th review. This is a no frills mom and pop place with really good bagels for the DMV. What I'm looking for is an outside that toast well and an inside that is softer. They don't make a ton so get there early. But can't go wrong with a sesame bagel toasted twice with cream cheese and bacon.

I really wanted this to be a five star review. The place smells delicious as soon as you walk in and it looks and feels exactly how you want a bagel deli to look. However, there are issues. Only two people working on a busy weekend meant that service was slow. I don't mind waiting for a good bagel, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Since one person was on register and toast/cream cheese and the other took care of all the sandwiches and everything else, I don't think there was anyone monitoring whether the bagels were actually fully baked. Both bagels in my order were flat, dense, and doughy - clearly under baked. While the hint of the flavor was promising, I'd rather eat a fully cooked bagel.

    Smoked Salmon on garlic bagel

Unexpected Excellence, delivering well above expectations. We stopped in and gave it a shot on a whim, ordering smoked salmon, bagel on garlic and a sausage and bacon, egg and cheese, bagel and everything. The garlic bagel was very good. The right amount of crunch supported really well by the cream cheese generous labs with a nice piece of salmon, nestle between and fresh red onion, providing a good flavor profile without overpowering. A great culinary experience. But the sausage, bacon, egg and cheese bagel on the everything bagel dominated the flavor profile. Normally the bagel itself is relegated to a supporting role, providing texture and foundation however, this Everything Bagel dominated flavor profile delivering strong, initial flavor and texture and not forcing the sausage, bacon, egg, and cheese to carry a lead roll. The net result was an incredibly good bagel delivering well above its weight class.

first timer && came later in the day right before they sold out because they were close to closing && only had about 5bagels total left! but let me just say wow - simply amazing! from the perfect salt balance on the freshly made everything bagel to the fresh veggies loaded onto the bagel sandwich warmed to the perfect crunch outside and soft inside perfection! its quiet inside! the owners are super nice && sweet! i highly suggest making sure to get a lot of napkins as they can create a messy goodness. cant wait to go back!

Everything bagel with sausage egg and cheese (bottom side)

Somewhere between a 3.5-4* spot. I'd say it's a 4* when compared to other shops of its caliber (eg: Dunkin Donuts) and closer to a 3-3.5* if you're trying to find the best bagel sandwich place in a 10 mile vicinity. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the bagels here. They're on the doughier side and I LOVED that. The lightly crunch outside of the bagel paired very well with the softer insides. The sausage, egg, and cheese are probably comparable to a Dunkin donuts bagel sandwich (think gooey cheese and an easily warmed up sausage) so no prizes win there but it's also what I expect when I go to a fast/deli style bagel shop. I loved how my everything bagel wasn't overpowered with too many toppings. One side was sparser than the other but they paired together well. If you're looking for a quick and yummy bagel sandwich in the area, give this one a shot.

We are pretty new to the area and these are the best bagels that I have found. Soft, chewy and a good size.

I stopped by sometime in the early afternoon last Wednesday to grab something for lunch and some bagels to go. SALMON, EGG, & AVOCADO - 10.75 I was pleasantly surprised that three very expensive ingredients in a bagel was only $10.75. I feel like most places charges $14+ for anything with smoked salmon on it. I chose the plain bagel for the least amount of mess (even though the sesame or garlic bagel would have been great). My bagel was perfectly toasted with the perfect chewiness. It was still really messy because this comes with an over easy egg, and the yolk got everywhere. Overall, great bagel sandwich. 1/2 DOZEN BAGELS - 10 The server who took my order told me asked if I wanted 10 bagels for $10 instead -- how could I say no? I grabbed some plains, sesames, poppy seeds, and a garlic. I've only tried the plain and garlic so far, and the garlic is a bit messy and leaves a lingering garlicky smell after I heated it up. I kind of liked it, but not for everyone. My friend enjoyed the sesame bagel! HOUSE MADE VEGAN CREAM CHEESE - 11 I was curious about their version of vegan cream cheese (made of coconut cream and tofu), so I bought a tub to try. It's not bad, but I don't love it. It has a very strong coconut cream flavor, which threw me off, and it melts really easily and does not hold its consistency well. Overall, good try, but I'll stick with regular cream cheese next time. Thankful that Bagel Uprising keeps their pricing more reasonable. I'm excited for their second location to open in Ballston, which is much closer to me.

Uncovered outside picnic tables are available if you want to enjoy your food on the premises which we did on this glorious spring day. Relative to staff they are super friendly and efficient in getting the food out which is important as this business is quite popular on Weekend mornings in particular. Now, if you have customer-anxiety, i like to call it, i would deff look at the menu beforehand so you know what to order. I walked in and there was a couple sitting closest to the cash register and i was like "oup!! can't take too long. everyone knows i'm here and i need to make a quick decision" so i just ordered quickly without really the taking time to look at the menu (whenever i go to new coffee spots i like i choose a fun, unique drink if they have it and i just derped). When I took the first bite, at first I noticed how refreshing it tasted, and how delicious the chili sauce was. As I was eating it the veggies tasted fresh, especially the peppers and the strawberry combined with the chili sauce was so good in the most surprising way. Who knew rice paper rolls could be THIS healthy? Despite being tired that day I ended up with renowned energy after eating those rolls. Like it felt super nourishing. The smoothie was creamy, fruity, and visually one of the most striking drinks I've had in a while. It felt like a place where you could slow down for a few minutes instead of grabbing something and rushing back out the door. One thing I like about this smoothie is that it's easy to customize. After having it before, I've found that ordering it with light banana and no agave makes it taste lighter and lets the mango come through more. That said, the standard version was still enjoyable and is probably the best starting point if you've never tried it before. I'd definitely come back and try other drinks on the menu.
