There is also a large open grassy field for sports. You will need to watch your kiddo's as the park has gates, but multiple entry/ exit points so be prepared to move around as kiddos explore.

My last three trips were for this year's Memorial Day activities in support of Carry the Load. This park comes to a new life when there is a large event such as the very noble Carry the Load. Reverchon's beautiful greenery, powerful oaks and gentle rolling meadows are accented with the dark reddish sandstone walls and structures that soothes the soul. It is almost like a slice of Eden.To see this impressive park comfort those grieving as they remember the fallen military, police, fire and other first responders validates its role as a magnanimous friend. It fosters the catharsis and healing needed by many. The trip up and down from the Katy trail (which is high above) can be as challenging as you want to achieve and as beautiful as you want to view. I like the winding stone steps. There are observation terraces, conversation pits, and nature everywhere. It is shielded by quiet Dallas high rises just far enough away. The quiet serenity at night is in contrast to its vibrant life during the day. It retains the natural attraction whether it is a hand full of park goers to over ten thousand. It's great for the dogs, kids and oldtimers like me. There are some sport facilities for the team sport athletes. And of course there are the trails. There is a lack of immediate parking which I think helps retain its natural beauty . There are lots and streets to park if you decide not to go on foot. The adjoining recreation center has all you could want or need. The food and drink options are not too far away and some are world renown. If you need mental cleansing or some quiet reflection, Reverchon Park is the place to stroll.

Nice park. We wanted…read moreto enjoy the early evening weather and take a stroll. We stopped by Debusk Park since they have a nice walking/jogging path. The trail runs all the way around the park. Most of it is cement, but there are sections of it that are bridges made out of wood, so watch your step. It helps break up the monotony of running on you average sidewalk. The path goes up and down some nice hills, through heavily wooded areas, and right along the side of some residential streets. There is a opening where you run next to and cross over a creek, so I can imagine that the mosquito population here can be pretty heavy. Be careful and wear some DEET. Probably the crown jewel of this park (for some people, not for me), is this huge play ground. When I say huge, I mean HUGE!!! It's a pretty massive structure of wooden beams and planks to climb and play on. The path cuts right by it, so if you take it the whole 1.44 miles around, you'll pass by it! Cool place if you want a change of scenery and a nice trail to walk. If you're close by, take a walk and enjoy Mesquite!

They have this cool slide/rope climbing contraption that kids 5+ can enjoy. We broke the rules a bit and let both our kids (4&2) play on it before it got too rowdy with older kids. The slide can get busy so it's wise to be careful with the little ones. For the smaller kids there are some toy houses and another climbing contraption with ropes and other balancing items. Right off the playground is a nice hill so if the weather is good, I'm sure you could roll down it! This park was overall a pleasant experience and kept the kids entertained.

Terrace Park is on the East side of Hwy 75. The park has a small neighborhood pool. While I…read morepersonally would never swim here, I'm certain it is popular with the kids during the summer. The shallow end has a beach-type entrance that gradually slopes into the water. What drew me here was Dog Splash Day. Neighborhood pools in Richardson are open limited hours in the blazing hot summer when kids are out from school. Pools shutdown nearly a month before Labor Day because kids are already back in school. However the real fun happens on the last day of the season when they open the pool up to humans and dogs. The dogs had a blast swimming, jumping, and peeing in the pool. It was about 109 degrees on this particular summer day in August. There was very little shade, so what little they had, everyone was congregated under it. The people running the event took more cash than was advertised to get inside. City of Richardson said $6, but the gate entrance told me $7. The City of Richardson advertisement online said this was a fundraiser for the shelter, but Richardson Shelter staff on site did not acknowledge this. They said they were there to break up dog fights. Someone was kind enough to give me a pupcup which I used to lure my dog to the water. He got his paws wet, but didn't venture any closer. On his own volition, he did head over to the water to cool off, but upon it touching his belly hair, he immediately ran back to shore. Fun event! Glad I went. Will try again next year to get my dog into the water. Hopefully it won't be as hot.

Today while I was at the park there was a vibrancy that was contagious. It brought the Chicago song, Saturday In The Park to mind, but I am still looking for the man selling Ice Cream! He is probably here, I just have not found him yet! Of course I have not made to the Food Truck section yet, and THAT is probably where he is at... So far I have seen people playing life-size Chess, kids playing in a dancing fountain, venders selling goods, authors selling books, people playing ping pong, and "a man playing guitar singing for us all!"

I will say the playground's pretty chaotic at times. Bunch of brats unsupervised being annoying. Saw this kid helping her little sister up one of the climbing net structures with a slide midway up and the kid was telling another kid to move so her little sister can get by. Now I get it if the other kid was just parked there not moving but the kid was moving but maybe not at the pace the brat wanted. To me, seems like a you problem and someone didn't tell her the world didn't revolve around her and her little sister. Was at another part of the playground and noticed a mom suddenly started yelling obscenities because she lost her son. She was just sitting at a bench I guess closer to her other 2 kiddos. Um newsflash. If you can't handle 3 kids, your poor choices don't need to infect other people trying to enjoy their time there. She eventually found her son but yet another story of someone who thinks the world revolves around themselves.

I couldn't see that the trees were wrapped in twinkle lights yet, but that glow over the park was almost .... angelic! Then there it was! Each tree had an entire wrapping of the lights on their trunks. And the larger trees had some branches that were lit up also. I am sure the persons who arranged the lights for the park was very careful to know and pick which trees could support how much extra weight. It was so beautiful. Now every year that I am able, I will go back to see the Holiday Display at Vetruvian Park. Last year I was in hospital from mid-December until February 13. I felt like I had let down a good friend when I couldn't make my annual voyage. I don't know how many more years I have been given, but to celebrate the birthday of Christ I will be there among the Angel Lights! Go see them! It's a wonderful experience for all!
