The playground looks like a castle, which is pretty cool. As good as it is, there was one thing I wasn't aware of. It's next to a school and the school uses the playground at recess. So our first 20-30 minutes there we had it to ourselves (almost), but then wave after wave of kids came over from the school. It wasn't a problem, but our 3 year old isn't used to playing and sharing with 4th and 5th graders. Oh well, it was fine. Still a good playground, would recommend.

A great place for an outdoor lunch break, some exercise, playtime, or family time. I am so thankful that Irving has such a beautiful park with such an intentionally inclusive design. I hope that some future maintenance or re-design might be in the works for the restrooms which do not have functioning facets at this time and feature only one metal, latrine-style toilet which isn't very user-friendly. Apart from that, this park features great design, landscaping and offerings that make you feel you've retreated from the city a bit. I've never visited in the evenings--only afternoons but it's been pretty peaceful in those times.

Terrible gym. Incompetent and rude staff. First time I've been kicked off a machine in 30 years of…read moreworking out in gyms across the world...literally while in the middle of my set by an employee unracking my weights and telling me to get off cause they are moving the exact machine I was currently using,.. I only had two sets left, mind you, and my sweater was on machine, I was getting ready to sit in it and use it, and the employee starts unracking my weights. I said "excuse me, I am using this and he said well we are moving it"! Never ever would this happen at 24 hour fitness or any other commercial big or small private gym. They know how to put their patrons first at those other places. IF he actually was taught to put members first, he would've let me finish the extra three minutes it would have taken me to complete my sets... never going back here. Or they could've put a sign to not use machine, like all other gyms in the world do. I have been a personal trainer all my life and never have I witnessed anything like what happened to me here today. If you're serious about your workouts and your time in the gym, don't bother with this incompetent staff that doesn't know how to put paying members first. What I experienced today is like eating at a restaurant and while you're in the middle of taking a bite of your half eaten burger, the waiter comes to your table and grabs your plate with your fries from underneath you. Who does that? LOL. But that is not the worst of it.. after the manager talks to me, the rude employee that kicked me off my machine (older man) comes over to where I am and rolls his eyes and tells me "get over it"!!! I've never been spoken to so poorly by a grown man. Shame on him for speaking to a lady that way. Zero respect, zero common sense, zero gym etiquette or know how. These people are running a joke of an establishment and their employees know nothing about serious training or why people actually go to the gym and yet they work at a gym. I've visited this park twice and both experiences have exceeded my expectations. Endless patio benches and tables, a clean bathroom that's perfectly located, and a pristine jungle gym that will have your offspring worn out by the time you get them home. Plenty of trees for shaded picnic and parental lounging, and I was elated to discover how maintained the lawn is. My favorite aspect of the park is the little book cove they have nestled by the playground. Kids are encouraged to take a book and/or leave a book at their own discretion. Parental guardians might be a little wary of this right now due to COViD-19, but just wipe that bad boy down and the reading material should be good as new! Last time we visited, the ice cream man showed up! My 4 year old nephew was able to take a break and enjoy a refreshing popsicle treat then get back to work--up and down the slides! He even met a friend out there--with whom we plan to have play dates with in the near future. How cool is that!? I think we have found our PARK HOME!

My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Park, Return) Atmosphere - Rio Vista Park is located in Irving's La Villita neighborhood. It's an official Irving Park so it's open to the public. It's a quiet park that sits in between houses in the neighborhood. On pretty days you'll see a pickup game or two of basketball or a family gather at the covered patio on weekends. On the weekends, several cars will be parked alongside the park because it's such a great entrance to Campion Trails. 2 Star. Park - While the entrance to Campion Trails is why most people visit the park; it still has some great features. There are two half court basketball hoops, a playground for young kids, and a covered patio with outdoor grills. Rio Vistra Park also has a long green field surrounded by a sidewalk (great for walking) where football games will spawn in the fall. This is a public park, so all amenities are first come first serve. 2 Stars Will I Return? - Yes. I love Rio Vista Park. I use the entrance to Campion Trails every weekend to ride my bike, and my kids grew up playing on the playground.
