I like coming here for a change of scenery when studying. It's friendly and clean. A little pricey, but good coffee and tasty pastries. The big tables aren't very comfortable. There's a bar underneath so you can't cross your legs and someone tall probably wouldn't be comfortable at all. Several times when I was there the door was kept open but it wasn't exactly hot out. Today it was 54 and rainy. I asked to close the door but after a few minutes it was open again. I was freezing! I left before finishing my coffee. I'd give more stars but I won't be returning for a while. read more

I love this place. I visit often too. The ambience is just great and the food is delicious. We had the avocado toast and waffles with banana and Nutella. Mocha and hot chocolate are the best for me. Another place that is making me start to love the Bay Ridge. Yummy coffee, plenty of space, chill music/atmosphere, friendly staff; if i lived in the area I would probably be in here every day. First time here. Very clean and the music is nice. They offer free wifi as well has today's local papers. Nice place to come and chat it up with people. Best coffee in Bay Ridge, hands down. The coffee is delicious, the staff are amazing (and wicked skilled) and your fellow customers are thoroughly decent sorts. The atmosphere is a bit library-like; lots of people on laptops, despite the shortage of plugs. Loads of freelancers, students, and people working from "home". Truly a great place to work, though maybe not the best place to chill out. Nevertheless, the staff are super friendly and will talk with anybody, a definite plus. Prices are a tad high, but given the quality of the coffee, its well worth it. The sort of place you can come to day after day, as the large number of regulars can well attest to. read more

I definitely like their food more than their drinks. I love their bagels and their avocado toast but the toast is a little bit on the pricier side. I would be giving a 4-star rating, but there was one instance I came in to quickly get a bagel before work. Right after I ordered and paid, one of the employees dropped the last bagel right in front of my face and I had to be refunded and settle for a croissant instead. Love this place. Definitely what the neighborhood needed - a well-kept, delicious place to get coffee on the way to the subway station in the morning.. or a place to study and relax on the weekend. Before this place opened, I had to go to the 75th street Starbucks which is all in all horrible (I hate the taste of Starbucks coffee + that location has the worst use of space on the inside). Their cold brew is yummy and STRONG. Just what I need for a spring morning. Sometimes I also like to splurge on their Nutella Latte too and I like that it is not too sweet like all things at Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. Not to mention the staff is so kind! Heard about this new cafe in Bay Ridge near me so I decided to come here to have their coffee and catch up with online correspondence. The coffee is from Toby's Estate which is on par with cafes such as Cafe Grumpy and Gimme Coffee. It's a much better alternative than Starbucks. Nice, stylish decor with a decent amount of seating. Free wifi and easy listening music playing over the speakers. For me, the best seat in the house is by the window where I'm enjoying the breeze drinking my hot coffee. No other cafe quite like this one in Bay Ridge. read more

When I first saw this place my initial thought was, "Awesome! A coffee shop other than Starbucks!" So I recently went in and ordered a latte. First I was happy to be informed that they carried soy (I'm lactose intolerant), but I wasn't too thrilled that it wasn't organic. That's just me. Besides that, I loved the latte! The espresso was smooth and had a nice sweet-like taste. Their pastries run out quick so I didn't get to try anything. This Place has great potential if they would LISTEN to their customers needs ! Business hours, a light breakfast menu (Bread, meat egg and cheese on a toasted something), small tweaks to the decor and maybe some board games. Coffee IS tasty, despite someones earlier review and the Staff varies. Some very friendly and chatty, others kind of robotic and cold. Moral of the story, drop by and have a cup of joe. The owners should try a suggestion box and try out a few new ideas. They have great potential to be something more than a cold, sterile place to get a good cup of coffee. read more

I loved CoffeeRx's outside seating area, it was a great place to catch up with a bunch of friends over a cup of coffee. I had the rose latte and the peanut butter condensed milk toast. I love how they use real rose petals inside their drink. Their toast was also thickly sliced and it truly hit the spot. I saw someone's avocado toast in the corner of my eye and it looked really good (it's on my to-get list for next time). The staff was very nice and welcoming, which is always a bonus! A great addition to Bay Ridge, The Coffee Lab offers some of the best coffee I've tasted. Their cafe gives a whole different atmosphere to the neighborhood, and their modernistic interior is personally a breath of fresh air apart from the dingy looks of some restaurants near the same area. They have an outdoor seating area that is satisfactory, and the staff are an absolute pleasure to be around. The coffee is well balanced, but I have yet to see their pastries (maybe they just don't have a display area for them?) Formerly "Coffee Lab", but somebody had a TM on the name and went all "Release the lawyers!" Too bad, because they'd done a nifty job of making it into, well, a coffee lab. The other reviews cover the decor and the offerings. I'll just add that they make the best coffee I've ever tasted, and that covers an enormous volume of coffee over the decades. Well worth walking several blocks past the Starbucks. Get a cappucino, admire the "latte art" heart, and enjoy! I keep a bag of their ground beans in the fridge for when I want an especially good cup at home. Pricey stuff, but you do get what you pay for. read more

I can't express how fantastic this spot is! My first time in Bay Ridge, and I was looking for something hot to warm me up after a 5K early in the morning at the nearby pier. This space is gorgeous with modern, clean lines. When I say "Clean", I also mean that it is immaculate. You could eat off those floors. The staff is fast, friendly, and efficient. They dealt with that rush of racers early Saturday morning like champs. The highlight of my visit was a decadent cup of their Nutella Latte. Did you get that?! DO NOT come here unless you put this on your order. It is rich, creamy, delicious and the perfect balance of caffeine goodness swirled with a generous portion of chocolate hazelnut decadence. The staff was nice and very informative. Especially when we ordered cold brew, we were told about the process and warned that it's super concentrated. They weren't kidding. And I love strong coffee, but this was whoa. Potent and a little on the bitter side. After I dumped a lot (and I mean a lot) of milk in there I was able to enjoy it. Maybe next time I will enjoy it more because I will know to request lots of extra room for the milk. Or maybe I will try the Nutella monster. I came here to grab some coffee with a friend after the gym. I ordered a latte and it was good. I love that this place doesn't get super crowded, like Starbucks does. They have free wifi and there's a good amount of tables. What made this place really stick out is the outside space they have in the back. There are picnic tables with umbrellas outside. I am very happy this place is here. I know the locals are up in arms when they see a coffee shop besides Starbucks in the neighborhood, but it's what Bay Ridge needs. Ever since Aloha Grinds went out of business I've been hoping that someone would open another independent coffee shop. Yes, the coffee is more expensive than Dunkin Donuts or a to-go diner cup of coffee served in a bag, but it's of better quality and the shop itself provides a nice environment to get together with friends that's not a bar. The patio out back is beautiful and the cold-brew is nice and strong, so I suggest anyone who lives in the area to give it a try. read more
