I live just 10 miles north of Coffin Cellars and have visited them two times this year...once by myself and then I dragged my wife there. She is NOT a drinker, never mind a wine consumer. But every once in a while I can get her tipsy!! Anyhow, I just knew she love this cozy winery that specializes in artisan table wines. As this classification of wines can have serious fruity overtones, my wife loves them. Excuse me while I reach for a glass of 'Rasberry" !! The Elderberry wine is made from HAND-PICKED FRUIT !! This speaks volumes of how much care they put into their product, and the results speak for themselves. Being the only drinker in my house, unfortunately I have to consume the whole bottle myself usually. But the upside is, I get to consume the whole bottle myself usually... The only complaint about Coffin Cellars is the price...it's simply too low. Coffin Cellars is an amazing place. As well as a novel venue for non-traditional wines. Coffin produces organic berry and fruit wines. And the latest offer is a Jalapeño wine suitable for a mean morning Bloody Mary. The drive is reminiscing of a Currier & Ives and, As a matter of fact, the highway into town (Rte 127) is also called Currier & Ives highway. Grandiose, pre-Revolutionary War homes, meticulously kept, line the highway. Once on the property, we went into the building that houses the wine making apparatus, part of which is now the tasting room. We tried seven different offerings including Elderberry, Blackberry, plum and the Jalapeño. Today, 30 October, will be the opening of their new tasting room, a pre-Civil War building that served as a manufacturing area for Union troop boots during the Civil War. The outside is still historically accurate but the inside is completely rebuilt in a post and beam motif. The place also has its own mascot, a beautiful half Cairns and half Jack Russell dog that is the friendliest dog ever. read more

Fun little family run place for some interesting wine tastings! Really nice people and surprisingly good fruit wines, we bought three bottles! Don't be deterred but the small and unassuming location, there was no pressure to buy and we really enjoyed talking to the owners about their wine making process. This wine is awesome! There is an interesting variety of fruit, berry, and even vegetable wines (Jalepeno!) Unlike many other fruit wines, these are typically not too sweet. Much of their fruit is locally sourced. Way to Drink Local! Open Sat & Sun afternoons year-round. read more
