Before our reservation, we stopped in the barn next door for drinks. It was such a fun experience! They had a fantastic selection of meads, live music with a talented duo playing '90s rock hits, and even a nice selection of branded merchandise available for purchase. The weather couldn't have been better, and the food was outstanding. We both ordered the baked haddock, and it was absolutely delicious- perfectly cooked, fresh, and full of flavor. We also highly recommend the Razz "What She Said" draft and the Mango Unchained sour draft, both were refreshing, flavorful, and incredibly tasty. It'll absolutely change your mind. Lots of meads have messy fermentation with off-flavors, but 1634 is clean, complex, with notes of honey and fruit. It's just in another class entirely. Even if you don't have time to stop by and have a drink, just pick up a few bottles and take them home.

Apple cyser tastes like adult apple juice and lavender lemonade is absolutely crisp in the best way, the mint aftertaste is just an added bonus. Moonlight Meadery is no exception to this at all and the mead we had with them was excellent. The mead Steve and I had was the Kurt's Apple Pie. As the name implies it was apple oriented and despite that it didn't taste much like a cider. It was mead all the way which made it all the more fabulous. Strong and boozy this mead was great to sit down, unwind and really get into it's flavor features with.

He proceeded to take orders from a large group of 7+ people before getting back to me. It took a while. Now, I had to come in alone because they closed their patio early without mentioning it on their website, so my husband had to stay outside with our puppy. The owner (?) then revealed to me that they did not have the town's permission to have a patio in the first place. They also closed their kitchen, but nonetheless did not allow us to take the puppy inside. Basically, this is a very poorly managed operation in the middle of nowhere. A much better choice would be to go to Over the Moon Farmstead.

It took us over an hour to get through the wines and ciders. Slow but nice... enthusiastic even, but so slow. Our feet were hurting from standing. The wines were certainly interesting. No grapes were harmed in any way at this winery. All were made with various berries from the area. I will admit that they have developed some very good berry based wines that are superior to the typical blueberry or huckleberry wine I've tasted. Still it's difficult to mimic a good Pinot Noir without grapes, etc. I could make a better argument for trying their ciders. I enjoyed a few of them. I did not try any sweet wines, so there may be a gem or two amongst those. Interesting place. One try was enough for me.

We arrived around noon w out a tasting reservation but got lucky there were spots available. We were greeted by a very friendly staff member outside and told us they had a jazz fest going. We had a seat at the tasting bar and had a wonderful time choosing and tasting wine and spirits. I love how u can mix and match and try wine spirits beer and canned mixers. $16 pp including a wine glass. We added a cheese cracker plate for $8. Cheese was yummy! Loved it. Attentive and knowledgeable staff. The pours were once ounce and they did feel on the smaller side, and would have preferred a tasting w a bit more but that's just me! Highly recommend, will do the wine tour next time. We had reservations at J's Restaurant which was excellent. Afterwards we sat at a table to listen to the live jazz music. I was pleasantly surpirsed to get seated with no reservation for a party of 2. I do recommend having a reservation though as it can get busy. The atmosphere is great for people who like sitting outdoors on a nice day as there are a ton of tables with umbrellas to keep people cool. You are able to scan a QR code to order anything off the menu and the service is great as the staff brings you the drinks to your table. For food they will text you when to pick up from kiosk. As for the drinks my friend and I both got the sangria, raspberry bellini, and fall sampler. All of the drinks were really refreshing and worth the price. The charcuterie and pretzel bites we got were also great for a nice winery day and the menu is pretty expansive so I want to try some other items in future visits. There were a lot of bees at some of the tables near where I sat and they often crowed the drinks and food so that it something to note. I definitely plan to come back next summer!
