We had the most wonderful Easter Brunch at Gilmanton Winery and Restaurant! Everything from start to finish was absolutely perfect. The food was delicious beautifully prepared, fresh, and full of flavor and the menu offered a great variety that made it hard to choose just one thing. The atmosphere is exactly what you hope for in a New Hampshire winery quaint, cozy, and incredibly inviting. It felt both special and relaxed, making it the perfect setting for a holiday brunch. The staff was welcoming and attentive, adding to the overall experience without ever feeling rushed. You can really tell they take pride in what they do. The food was... not great. Not terrible either. Technically edible, which I suppose is still the baseline humanity has agreed upon for restaurants. But probably one of my least favorite meals I've had in a while. I started with the crab rangoon nachos, and honestly, those were the highlight. Definitely different than I expected, but surprisingly good. For my entrée, I got steak, fries, and Asian slaw. The steak itself was tender, and fries are pretty hard to ruin unless you actively resent potatoes, but the overall flavor was just... weird. Not awful, just a mix of spices or seasoning that didn't really work for me. I wouldn't be excited to order it again. Dessert was a Nutella-stuffed cookie pie thing that I split with a friend, and I swear we almost needed an axe to cut into it. Points for durability, I guess. lmao read more

We were driving up to Laconia when I saw a random sign for this place. We arrived for brunch on Sunday around noon and the kitchen was backed up due to some larger parties so we waited for a little at the bar. The bartender and owner, Rick, told us their story and how they had actually just begun doing food and brunch-- what a coincidence we had just seen the sign during our drive! The drinks were great and the conversation even better. We were seated 15ish minutes later on the porch. The wait staff were so pleasant, and the menu is reasonably priced and diverse enough that it doesn't just feel like normal breakfast food. I had the sausage gravy on the biscuit and it was phenomenal. My boyfriend enjoyed the ricotta eggs and a side of bacon that was wonderfully sweet and smokey. We were so excited to have stumbled into this place due to a random little state sign, and our only complaint is that it isn't closer to where we live! We absolutely love this place! They have the best wine, especially their Chardonnay. When they closed to renovate for the new restaurant, we hoarded bottles like the apocalypse because we like it so much. The new restaurant is fantastic! Can't say enough about this place. Great wine, and beer for those that enjoy something else. Dinner and apps were delicious. Had the arancini which was a good set up for the pasta dishes we had as well as the short ribs. All had great flavor with good portions. Did dessert which might have been some of the best cheesecake I've had in ages. Our server was awesome. Very personable and attentive. Overall setting was casual and welcoming. We went to dinner on Friday night and sat on the porch. It was a beautiful setting. The menu was out with small plates and entrées. There was a nice wine list and beers also. We tried two flights, one was the premium and the other was the classic. We also had their charcuterie board which I have to say was awesome a perfect addition with the flights. What a cute place and atmosphere. Definitely small with a smaller tasting room. The owners wife helped us. She brought the tastings to us to allow us to sit on the patio and enjoy the nice weather. The wines are good, more on the sweet side, as they have a large list of dessert wines. The owner is a retired marine and showed us around the farm. I really enjoyed the Sunday Brunch here! As someone who lists brunch in her top 5 favorite activities, I'd say this is a unique one and a must-try if you're in the area! First, it's at a winery, which is pretty neat! I believe they do tastings after the brunch, or during their regular tasting room hours - didn't get to try this, so I'll have to be back. This place just happens to have the distinction of being the home of Peyton Place, which adds some extra interest. The restaurant itself is very cozy and charming. It felt super luxurious being fireside with a multi-course brunch and delicious mimosa. Second, it's an incredible deal! Instead of a buffet or a la carte, it's family-style set menu. Everything is great, and you can order more of what you like if you need or want more. The fruit dip was so yummy! I also really liked the french toast, even though I'm a pancakes-type person. I definitely left here stuffed! Third the service is awesome! They're very attentive and super friendly here. We got to talk to the owner (who is also the cook), which was really fun - lots of great stories and it was interesting to hear the backstory of how they started with the alpacas and vineyard. Attended a private function (wedding) at this vineyard. The setting was glorious - both the property and the views. Their wines were available at the open bar and we sampled a variety. I found them to be quite good, and I'm not someone who drinks US or local wines (preferring New Zealand ones instead). Have to say, I'll be buying some of their fruity wines (with flavors such as blueberry, cranberry, raspberry/chocolate). If you are up that region, I encourage you to check it out. read more

This is my second review of this fine establishment. In early March, I attended "Girl's NIght Out". The theme was dinner and a movie and the dinner had a chocolate theme. There were several courses all of which contained some form of chocolate. The first course was a chocolate fondue. The chocolate was deep and rich. The dippers includes strawberries, tangerines, pound cake, and breadsticks. Along with this course was a home-made garlic infused oil with homemade bread. The salad included candied nuts along with a dressing with a wee bit of chocolate incorporated. The food was phenomenal. The next courses included meatballs with a balsamic reduction sauce, a panko breaded chicken serve with fettucini alfredo with a white chocolate sauce. Dessert was a most delectable chocolate concoction of a brownie, white cream, chocolate cake, and chocolate ganache served with a cherry sauce. The food was incredible. How did I ever forget to write a review of this delightful hidden gem? I went for brunch this last summer and we picked the most perfect day while sitting on the farmer's porch. Brunch, cooked to order, is a fixed five course menu-fresh fruit and nuts w/yogurt dipping sauce, fried dough, French toast w/bacon, scrambled eggs w/sausage over sweet rolls and homefries and dessert and if you are still hungry, you can get seconds! We came for Sunday brunch and had a fantastic time. The service, the setting - we were able to eat on the farmers porch, with birds singing overlooking the vineyard. It was girls day out and this was perfect! Enjoyed the staff and owner/chef/wine maker. Wine is delicious. I plan to bring my mom back. I was astonished at 7 course breakfast and the cost was $16.00!!!! Anywhere else 7 courses served one at a time would cost you $25 or more. Great price. Wines are $15 per bottle and the tasting is $3.50 plus keep the glass. Can't wait to bring hubby for a romantic Friday night dinner. The service is unbelieveable and everyone is just so friendly and love meeting people. They were all sweethearts to us and the food YUM. read more
