Asked if Dr was running late and was informed I was to be seen by nurse practitioner. 20 min later I asked about rescheduling with a Dr and was told Oct 1st. I asked for a refund and left. 1. I shouldn't have to interrogate staff when I ask to make an appt w/ a Dr. 2. 20+ min late, no explanation or apology. 3. Buyer beware.

Dr Walter Maier has been my primary care physician for several years. I like having a Dr nearby…read morethat always works me in when something comes up. From lab work that I need to get done regularly to the friendly office staff. Sue in referrals is the best, and usually has everything taken care of within minutes, not days. Austin the office manager is professional, friendly and easy to work with. Dr Maier listens to my concerns and works with me to achieve the goals I set each year. From Diet and exercise, to preventive maintenance. Recently found out he was an ER doctor for many years, which is nice to know in case I ever do have an emergency. I'm grateful to have Dr Maier and his staff, plan to stay as long as his practice is open. Lastly, even prescriptions are easy to refill, either by mail or in person at a local pharmacy. No complaints in all the years I've been a patient. He has a large patient base, but if you call and ask to be worked in if anyone cancels, you can usually be seen latwr that day by phone/video or within the week. My biggest Shock was at the first of the year , (2024) When I walked into the office and one of his staff approached me and told me I had a balance due of $255! I immediately said What!? This is literally my first appointment of the year! His Accountant girl in the back said Oh, yes , that's your medicare deductible! ‍ In my entire life of being on Medicare never ever have I heard of this scam before! That day he ordered some labs, and a mammogram. And of course his office called me to come in so he could go over the mammogram, , and when I did , he literally sat down and said " well.... I guess, I'm supposed to go over this mammogram with you...." ‍‍‍ seriously! That took all of 3 minutes! The Best part is .. the Labs he ordered apparently Medicare didn't want to pay for.. I didn't find out until 1 year later! (1/11/2025) I'm appealing the $383 to Medicare, So I asked Dr Maiers if he could write a Letter Supporting his decision to order the Labs 1 year ago, He actually had the nerve to CHARGE ME $40!!! To write the Letter! As Well As say And I can't Guarantee This Will help.. His Front Office Staff are Extremely Nice , but this is a small mountain Community, and It's Not Fair to Treat Ppl Like This.... Especially Seniors..

Either by phone/zoom or if there's a cancellation. I was surprised to read the one bad review associated with Dr Maier, because my experience is in complete contrast. I need a lot of lab work done during the year, so Dr Maier gives me a stat order that is good for 6 months at a time. I just go the the Hospital and it's already approved. His staff is top notch between the office manager Austin and Sue in Referrals. I feel they take my well being as serious as I do. Yes Dr Maier has a lot of patients, but isn't that a good thing, kind of like a busy local restaurant that all the locals like to eat at. Sometimes the price to pay for good service is that ypu might need to wait or make an appointment. And if it's a life threatening situation then that's what Emergency Rooms are for. On a side note Dr Maier used to be an ER doctor, which I find reassuring. The staff has changed somewhat over the past decade, but I feel they have only gotten better and more helpful. When I explained how severe the pain was, they said, "Drive down the mountain and go to urgent care." When I explained that would rupture my ear drum, they said, "Why don't you go to Rite Aid and get some over-the-counter ear-pain drops?" (Those don't exist and they don't cure ear pain). I had to switch him from my primary care doctor. The doctor upstairs (Dr.. Elwood Cohen) saw me in TEN minutes. Ten minutes! I was right - my ear infection was so bad it was going to rupture. I called Maier's office back and spoke to his medical assistant and she was both snotty and rude. Bad front-and-back office staff ruin a medical practice. Pick a doctor who will actually see you when you're sick. Isn't that what doctors are for?

I ignored it stupidly on that particular day I felt the pain was worse than ever and I better go to the ER here to our wonderful hospital. Mountain Community Hospital in Lake Arrowhead. I went there feeling pretty cocky and thinking this will be nothing well once again. I was there approximately 7:45 in the morning and I was just complaining about chest pain and the incredible doctor and nurses took the bull by the horn and recognized the signs and started taking x-rays and what not and I'm saying it's nothing. It's nothing. I'm feeling pain here is there but immediately they saw and recognized issues and me being the stupid person that I am I'm saying no, I have to go to Spain in three days and they were fantastic. I cannot say oh my God how wonderful they were. They took the ball by the horn like I said and they immediately took some test and they said you're going to have to go down the hill to Riverside Community and I just thought that was crazy well fast-forward that was on 12 May a week later I ended up having open-heart surgery yes and I must say they literally saved my life that was told to me several times by the doctors and the cardiologist at Riverside Community. I would've had several heart attacks in Spain or the airplane had I not been at Riverside Community and had my open heart surgery and had a ER at Mountain community done what they did they literally saved my life that entire staff between the doctors and the entire staff between the nurses the radiologist. They are five star all the way we up here on the mountain are so blessed with the entire staff and the doctors they are our angels truly are angels. We need to stop complaining about the stupid stuff and realize how blessed we are to have the staff at Mountain community. They are really the best stop complaining about the stupid little stuff because they saved my life and I bless them every day. I wake up, I was told by my neurologist at Cedar Sinai that 82% of people don't even make it to the surgery table 82% and that would've been me had it not been the staff at the ER at Mountain community. We owe them so much. They are truly my heroes. Thank you so much ER department at Mountain community God bless you.

Had to come next day to submit another one. Meanwhile, there was no way to get a response from the doctor till I actually came to the appointment. Few days after I spoke to the doctor I decided to do at-home pH test that showed I needed specific antibiotic. Took a full day of calling the office and texting the nurse. Was about to go to ER since my symptoms worsened when got a call from the nurse saying she sent prescription in for me. Got 90 antibiotic pills from pharmacy with no indication of how long to take them for - obviously, very possible mistake. Texted the nurse - no response, called office - took efforts to convince them that something may be wrong and I need to double-check with the doctor. Called another line and at last found out that it's only 7 and not 30 days I should take antibiotic for. Very frustrated! It told me that "I had been scratching it," So that's why it's a scar, now. So that's why a Real DOCTOR called it an auto-immune reaction to the injection, and that the unrelenting pain is SERVA Again, this is not a Doctor, -it is a Prostitute that sold it's soul for money. I write this review in the hope of helping other families avoid the horrible experiences because of…read morethis doctor method of practicing medicine. These comments are a result of not one but 3 family members, ranging in age from 20's to 80's. It would take a thesis paper to fully expose all the issues about this physician. It is sufficient to say this doctor is a bully with very poor medical credibility. Bullies require exposure. As long as you are healthy with no issue, there are no problems. However, the minute you have a health challenge and don't fit in to her recipe book, her ability to treat you with compassion and viability is to be questioned. Frequent and unsubstantiated wrong diagnoses, in areas of knowledge that are not her expertise, constant talk of doom and explosive behavior, to the edge of medical malpractice, is dished out to patients who are at their most vulnerable. If you were not the standard " give me a pill" client, if you have life choices and values that do not fit her ideas; such as avoiding drugs, finding alternatives and prefer a conservative/ minimalist approach, the so-called compassion and "medical missionary", as stated on her website, turns in to verbal assault and bully. Worse still, she talks about her patients behind their backs, to other patients. This breaks medical standards of privacy, confidentiality and trust. The mountain is a small place, word get's around. If you're looking for a Doctor who will be your true advocate, working on your behalf, that totally believes in you, will find a way, will work with your values and truly cares for YOU, Dr. Win is NOT it. It is her way or the highway. She has no desire to listen. If you want someone to care for your aging parent with confidence. That will treat your aging parents with compassion and respect that they deserve. One that will never give up. This is not the doctor. Dr. Win instead speaks "death" and words of negativity to your already weakened family member. Instead of hope and compassion. This report is a summary of 3 individuals and not from just one elderly parent who is sick. They now go to a doctor worth his weight in gold.
