Horrible receptionist with horrible customer service skills I called corporate they apologized and said action will be taken. When I asked for corporates number I was basically bulled out of appointment and told not to come. Edit: I received a call after my appointment was canceled for me requesting corporates number encouraging me to come in at my appointment time so I can receive my eye exam and so they can better explain the policy. When I got there the same receptionist who I had the initial encounter with greeted me and had papers apologizing for what happened earlier and to make it right offered me 50 dollars off. I thought this to be a sweet gesture until she stated in order to receive the discount along with my eye exam I had to delete the negative review "right now"in front of her. She explained how a review like that can really hurt the company. It was then I realized the only reason my appointment was given back to me was in order to coerce me into deleting my review. I stepped outside taken aback and feeling completely uncomfortable and left. After I left they proceeded to call me three times back to back I did not answer. The apology and discount were enough and I would've willingly changed my review without being directed. But by them trying to use force only further tarnished the way I see cohens as a company. I will be escalating this matter. My sister who Is a prominent influencer will be sharing my story along with the supporting facts on her platform. read more

I made an appointment online for 11:30am. It is now 12:15 pm and I still haven't gone into my appointment. The man ahead of me said he made a 10:30am appointment and still hasn't been called in for his (mind you it's 1145!). I did ask how much longer it'd be, and I was quickly asked if I would like to reschedule. Then was told it'd be another 20 minutes. I was also informed the gentlemen ahead of me "had a book appointment and yours was made online"...not sure what the staff member meant when she said this to me. There is one obstetrician on at a time. Either the Father or son. The father was very nice and took his time! I'd encourage the staff to be a bit more understanding/friendly and to be more considerate of the customers time. read more

Very unprofessional. Elderly woman working at the front desk was extremely rude, terrible customer service. She refused to provide me contacts to help cover until my appointment and shamed me for not making an appointment earlier when the store was booked for the month. Just to update you regarding my complaint And unsatisfactory with this establishment. not just for the bad services provided and sales of damaged product and refuse to refund my money but also the effort the BBB who tried so hard to reach them and showed they careless to resolve my issue or even have time to write BBB their say. Better business Bureau wrote me today regretting that they have tried so many times to reach them but showed no interest. This is really bad. Now I have no other choice but to talk to a lawyer to fix this particular office branch management. And not only will get my money back, I can assure you that the office will pay the whole cost. This is unprecedented attitude and disrespect to this non profit organization BBB. Who I respect so much and resolved peacefully one or two cases previously. As far as this experience I will update all of you and I will do everything legally to take back my money and bring them to justice and this for play do to me and sure so many of you out there. Have been coming here for over ten years and never had an issue staff were always helpful and have repaired adjusted when needed. Went there Monday and they had no clue how to fix the small wire that's snapped holding the lenses. Happened last year and fixed in 15 minutes. They called and said would cost $25 for another guy to look at them. When I called then went in. He says he could not figure out how to do it! Asked where all the original employees had gone. ( maybe to Norwalk) he had no clue! Will never return here worst experience ever. read more

The owner MIKE is fake and rude. He charged me $100 more on frame price and Claimed Insurance less price. Totally fake guy. He does not take returns, Same NIKE 4275 frame in Westport Cohen's optical shop is $299 but he charged me $399. I called Nike and they said Nike does not make any eye glass frame with the price range of $399. So fake Mr. Mike. Absolutely disgusted with the service I received here today. Late last night my toddler broke my glasses. The screw popped out on my left side of my glasses where the hinge is located. I have the WORST vision ever so immediately I needed to get them in one piece so that I wasn't a blind bat for the rest of the night. I found some super glue and put them together that way. Crazy, perhaps, but I was panicked and have only one pair of glasses. I called Cohen's the next morning and spoke to a young man who was very helpful. I let him know the situation and he said bring them on in!! Upon arriving here it was very busy but the staff overall did a great job with getting people in and out. A young woman wearing glasses with blonde/black curly hair began to assist me. I told her the issue and what I did with the glue. She became frazzled and in disbelief to what I did. I intentionally did not glue where the screw would be inserted. She insisted that it was blocked and she had to see what they could do. After disappearing with my glasses to the back she helped the next guest and then another colleague of hers went in the back as well. I could hear a man in the back room cursing and saying how I should be glad they could fix it. The two women in the back were laughing and once the young woman came back out with my glasses she tried to make it a huge deal that they were able to fix it. She handed me my glasses and proceeded to tell me "next time...." in which I cut her off. I explained to her that I did not need to be lectured on what to do with my glasses. If they didn't want to help me then they did not have to. I felt they were all very unprofessional and I will probably call in on Monday to speak to a manager about this. read more

I went it to repair my glasses that were broken thinking that either they have to send them away or I will have to buy a new pair because it's not repairable. Really nice optician but the front office experience is absolutely terrible. Not helpful with picking frames. Assumed that me saying I want to optimize my benefits and minimize out of pocket meant I was not worthy of the frames in the locked cabinets and the woman pointed me to the rack of unbranded cheap frames. Needless to say, I left and got my frames and lenses at LensCrafters in the same mall with out of pocket spend for the frames I wanted. I have been going here for a few years now. While I have never really had an issue w/ Dr. Blum specifically the rest of the staff seem completely inept and disorganized. Made an appointment online which was confirmed. Still had to wait 40 minutes when I got to the office. 1st time around when I tried to order my contact lenses they ordered the incorrect prescription. They just reordered my old prescription instead of ordering my new, stronger prescription 2nd time when I tried to get my correct prescription they ordered the wrong quantity of lenses. They are always polite and apologetic but it has taken me 2 weeks and 3 trips back to the office and I still don't have the correct order of contact lenses. read more

Along with my annual visits, he has treated retina issues, infections and if couldn't, he referred me. I trust him implicitly! I give this store 1 starr because my eye exam...(in the closet). seemed ok. The owner and doctor was fine. A basic exam. The problem was that whoever...and it is done on site...made my RayBan sunglasses with prescription lenses...broke the frames and actually tried to crazy glue them back together and sold them to me!! I I only discovered this by going to an eye care place in Westchester NY. when my lens kept piping out. I went back to complain and the owner's son sheepishly offered me a new pair of glasses. I usually have a pleasant experience when I go to the store. But today I called just to make sure my faxed prescription went through, and a woman named Deana or Diana was so ridiculous rude! After explaining why I was calling (to confirm that my fax went through), she huffed and said "I'm not the one that was helping you so..."I then asked if she could check to see if there was a fax there from me?" Huffed again and very sarcastically sweet she replied "Hold on a minute!" Judging by the reviews, I'm not the only one that notices the rudeness. Now, I was admittedly so, condescending when I asked her, but her response was above and beyond rude. Simply put, she didn't feel like helping me and was trying to pass me off to someone else. THEN had the audacity to mock me. That's NOT acceptable! You can't treat customers like that. SHE is solely responsible for this negative review which is too bad. Dr. Blum is an excellent doctor! I felt very welcome in his office, and he was kind enough to answer any questions I had in regards to the difference between contacts and eyeglasses. My checkup was very quick and easy and I got my new prescription with no issues. read more

I am writing this review now though it has been quite some time since I had this bad experience, I just did NOT want to spend any more time writing to/about them after the huge emails that I had to write complaining about these guys. The optometrist is as rude as hell. And so are the sales persons standing outside. You will be good as long as you don't ask anything about the products and pricing. Do that and they will treat you so badly that you wouldn't dare open your mouth. That is how bad this place is. This place has to be the most outdated place I've ever been too, in the grand scheme of things, thats okay, I still got my exam. Everything is overpriced, while what I thought was trial lenses was actually billed to my insurance and they deducted it from my annual credit, HALF. I wanted to order lenses as well but did not due to how overpriced they were. $120 per box, I ordered them online for half that price instead. I would not go here, dollars would be better spent elsewhere. read more

I have had two really bad experience at Cohen's Fashion Optical located in the Stamford Mall. GO THERE AT YOUR OWN RISK. First time, I took my Rx to get a pair of glasses made, it took 2.5 week to make, which is longer than I would expect, but once they were made they were ridiculously bad. The lens were totally wrong from the Rx, there was no way to wear them for more than 10 seconds. I complained but it fell on deaf ears. I got them checked with a doctor and he confirmed the lens were off from the Rx. Second time my family member went there to get some adjustment to existing glasses, and guess what the totally incompetent staff broke the $500 lens !! All of their staff was rude and wanted to throw us out of shop after they messed up. I just have no words for this place. My advice, AVOID THIS PLACE FOR YOUR OWN GOOD ----------------- UPDATE: ----------------- I got this in a recent replies to my review, " ******.... one of the worst. My 4 yr old daughter has astigmatism and was diagnosed with +3.5 power. Those careless bunglers made specs with power -3.5. we never got to know till she had her next eye exam 2 months later. even then, no one at the shop had the decency to apologise, but instead tried to shift the blame to us. remember, the doctor had to call the store so that they would replace the specs. read more

this review is specifically about the eye doctor in the place; my husband went there as this was the only local location accepting our insurance. Prior to the eye exam my husband asked for contacts and glasses prescription as he always does, and was told nothing. when it came time to take the prescription the doctor notified him he'll have to pay extra for the contacts fitting even though my husband has been using Cohen's before and they have that info - when my husband refused to pay, the doctor threatened him he'll rip the prescription (of course after he billed our insurance) - so we paid and got the prescription and Cohen's got double the money but lost us as customers and hopefully many more people. rude doctor, bad experience, all about ripping the costumer - don't go there! read more

I decided to try cohens when I noticed attractive glasses in their 99.00 dollar case. I ordered reading reading glasses with these frames. I ordered one in Stamford and one in Trumbull. The lenses were fine but in both glasses the frames split in half within 2 weeks and I am not hard on my glasses. read more

Worst service ever. I brought two glasses here, they made three mistakes. First issue, they charged me for coating, but they didn't make it. Second issue, when I asked to fix it, they said they will let the manager handle it on Monday, but when I went back on Wednesday, the manager even didn't know. Third issue, my insurance cover 80% over $150 for a frame. But they charge me 100%. I spent $289 for a Kate spade frame which is only worth $68 if you brought it from Kate spade website. read more

While the gentleman helping me to pick out my new glasses did a wonderful job, while we were waiting another staff member was yelling at another customer. After the customers left, the staff continued to joke about them - In front of my husband and I. Came here for the first time and the workers were terrible. The only person who was actually helping was this curly headed girl with glasses who was doing everything. All other workers were in the back talking and doing nothing. Way tooooo over-priced! They charge over 200% for frames MSRP, so that no matter what insurance you have, they can always rip you off! Keep in mind this is MSRP and you can usually find price at 50% or less online. If you are so rich and do not mind throwing your money, come here, otherwise avoid this place as hard as you can. read more
